I ordered take out from here last night (pad Thai and Tom yum), ate half of it, and got very sick with terrible stomach cramps. Thinking it may have been the pad Thai that made me sick, I reheated the leftovers of the Tom yum in the microwave today (mistake) and ate the rest, only to discover an object at the bottom of the container. I put this in my mouth!!! I'm beyond disgusted. It looks like some sort of broken off latch. You can see the screw. The worst part is, it's caked in filth. No doubt the reason I got sick last night. I've been down on Main St. in Carmel many times, but never noticed this gem of a restaurant and I have definitely been missing out. Pad Thai Restaurant is snuggled in right off of Main St. behind Monterey and across 2nd Ave from Bubs Burgers. We got our food to go, but I was impressed by the atmosphere inside. It seemed very clean and well kept. The lady working last night was such a joy. She was very upbeat and nice when we asked to order our dinner to go. I ordered the Garlic Pepper Chicken (spice level: medium) with an order of crab rangoons to share. Since we ordered in the restaurant, she said it would take about 15 min to get our food, which we anticipated so we just went to walk on the Monon since it was a beautiful day. Our food was ready in exactly 15 minutes. Like I said before I ordered the garlic chicken, which had stir-fried chicken in garlic and pepper sauce with carrot and green onion, bedded on sliced cabbage. As you can see from my pictures, the garlic pepper chicken was covered in a mound of cilantro, which I really do not enjoy at all. The plus is that it was just on top and not mixed throughout so it was really easy to take off and then it was like it was never even there! I liked that there was a lot of extra sauce at the bottom to adequately cover the cabbage under the chicken. Overall, the dish was delicious. It love intense flavors, so the garlic and pepper was not overpowering for me. The medium spice level was also perfect and not too spicy at all. I think I will try the next level up next time too! The chicken dish came with a side of steamed rice, which was cooked to perfection. The crab rangoons were also great. They were crispy, not too sweet and had good crab flavor. This place is definitely a winner and I'm sad I didn't find it sooner! read more

Bumping this up a star because after two recent visits, I'm pleased with the customer service and pad thai. I went here for lunch with coworkers and service was speedy - seating, getting drinks, taking our orders and delivering food. Lunch special is a steal here, too - soup, a small ramekin of salad, an egg roll and pad thai (if you order that dish like me, at least) for about $8, if I remember correctly. We were hungry after our Saturday walk and way over ordered. The waitress was very nice about packing up one of our entrees that we didn't even touch. Upon being seated, we were given a small dish of coleslaw with peanuts? In it. Hubby liked it; I did not at all. We had veg tempura appetizer which included some unexpected (but welcome) onion rings. I had been on the lookout for a good Thai place near work, and Pad Thai fit the bill. I must have passed this place dozens of times on the way to other restaurants on Main Street, but am happy it finally caught my eye on a random drive-by during lunchtime. I met a friend for a walk on the Monon & dinner at Pad Thai later the same day (a Tuesday evening after work) and honestly can't recall what my friend ordered because I was so wrapped up in the Garlic Pepper Chicken I had. It came with steamed rice, both for only $12. It was amazing and the portion was very generous! I left the restaurant very full and still had half leftover to take home. The chicken was well seasoned, veggies cooked nicely, but left just crisp enough, and the spiciness was at the perfect level (medium hot) to give the dish a little "kick", but not set your mouth on fire. I usually also order a Thai tea at Thai restaurants, but opted for green tea during this visit, which was a good compliment to the food I had. Right before leaving, I was excited to see that they also have the Thai Tapioca Pudding on the menu! I've only seen this at one other Thai restaurant in the city and absolutely love it. We had to wait 50 minutes for a table, after being told ten minutes to wait. Another couple waiting had been there half an hour longer than we were and only were seated a few minutes before us. It was more like 20 minutes. Another patron ended up asking her waiter to serve us because she felt bad. When we finally got our food, my order was incorrect. The couple who had been waiting with us were seated next to our table and her order was also incorrect. When we were talking about it, the patron on the other side of our table informed us she was given the wrong appetizer. That being said: we all agreed the food was still delicious regardless. I had yellow curry, with no carrots, and it was exactly how I like it. My boyfriend had the Rama delight. IF YOU LIKE PEANUT SAUCE get the Rama delight. He are it in like three min. The table beside us got the mussaman curry instead of what she ordered, and with beef instead of chicken, and she said she wasn't too mad it was still good. We also loved their salad rolls. I'm giving them a little bit of a pass, because they have only been open two weeks, and they were clearly overwhelmed by their popularity. The food was good, and they were very apologetic about the poor service. We didn't have one clear waitress, everyone on staff was sort of doing everything which seemed to lead to confusion about who had been seen and who should be seated. The inside is INSANELY loud when there are people. My best advice is to go when they are clearly not busy, or order take out. We are going to go back again in a few weeks and see if they have smoothed things out, again the food is great. They also have Thai iced tea, but it comes in a huge amount of ice so there's barely any drink. Ask for light ice if you don't want to pay 3.50 for two ounces of liquid in a cup of ice. ;) read more

Last Saturday, several businesses along Carmel's Main Street were open until midnight. Even though they weren't participating, we opted to dine at Pad Thai anyway and had a great experience. Pad Wun Sen has been my go-to dish to judge a Thai restaurant and I have to say their dish is filling and a great value. I'm glad I didn't order an appetizer or anything else because I finished most, but not all, of the dish. Thai restaurants can sometimes be odd with spice levels where "medium" spice level at one might be nothing whereas at another it might be incredibly spicy. Pad Thai actually has 6 levels of spice and I enjoyed the "medium" level. It was something I could handle but I was surprised at how much kick the second setting had. My girlfriend reported that her dish's "mild" still had a bit of a kick to it. Service was excellent and quick. We did not dine in and sat at one of the handful of tables outside. Inside was a nice interior which would be perfect for a date-night. Service was great at a good price. Yelp Bonus: This business participates in Yelp Cash Back. Hooray! Great place for take out! We called in on a Friday night around 6:30 and was quoted a 30 min wait time. We showed up a few min early and food was ready! We ordered the Pad Thai with tofu, Green curry with chicken and Vegetable spring rolls appetizer. The curry was my favorite dish. The sauce was delicious with coconut flavors and creamy over a bed of white rice. The pad Thai had a little bit of heat and plenty of tofu pieces. The spring roll appetizer came with 6 servings. They were a perfect golden and crispy. They were filled with yummy cabbage and carrots. I loved the sweet tangy dipping sauce. We definitely had leftovers that we ate for a few days. I think I've found my favorite Thai restaurant in Indy. I have tried at least 5 or 6 in Indy and this is it! Parking is tricky, but expected. They do have an outdoor seating. We've got 3 dishes. Duck, drunken noodles, and pad Thai. Duck was tender and loved the sauce. Drunken noodle was large and the spiciness was on point. And pad Thai was already great. This is a great place for a family sharing style meal. All the dishes were large size where you would be able to share. I do have to say, server was bit slow and got my order little wrong, but food was great. They do have weekday lunch specials. Looked like it was around $9. I loved their food... by far the most authentic Thai food in the area. Great service and not to mention ambience. On a side note, It's treat to the eyes to see beautiful art on the walls. Went here Saturday night. It was a great night to sit on the patio and watch the runners go by on the monon. The place is tucked right behind Scottys so you still get to listen to their music. Service was a little slow, but I think for non chain restaurants it's understandable. The food was good but be warned they are on the spicy side. Even the mild orange chicken had a bit of spice to it. The pad sie iew actually has the big fresh wide noodles not the dehydrated kind, and we're very tasty. I came here for lunch. The service was quick - since they only bring soup and then your full Meal, you don't really have to wait for much or need a serve often. That part is nice. They also brought me a water as soon as I sat down, it was 92 degrees out so perfect. The soup is sweet and the pad Thai is sweet with lots of flavor. Their food is on point and we have ordered different items from the menu each time. Some are just okay and some are phenomenal - for example the wide noodle stir fry with a spicy sauce(it wasnt spicy) was so tasty with the good dose of "wok breath". The only negative here would be their service - they can be really slow in taking orders or serving orders even during takeout. Another yummy dinner in Carmel! Went a little crazy and over ordered with a Beef Rama delight, the seafood yum and a mango sticky rice. The total came to about $32 and was takeout so was ready in 20 mins. The seafood yum was a perfect little summer salad. Cool light and citrusy. The Beef Rama tho was def far from light! Its in a heavy peanut sauce. Yummy but a little heavier then i was trying to go. Ofcorse that didn't stop me from enjoying it. I live near here so I have been getting takeout often. This isn't the best Thai food I've had in this area but the staff is friendly and the service is always top notch. I went basic and ordered the pad Thai, good flavors and definitely hot with lots of chili like it's supposed to be! I wish there were more greens in my dish to enhance the flavor (green onions, limes, bean sprouts etc.). They kept it pretty simple with the noodles, crushed chili's and peanuts and chicken with a few green onions here and there. I also ordered the Thai tea which was ok. I've definitely had better but this isn't all too bad and entree flavors are hot and spicy. I call their Crab Rangoon's DFPH (Deep Fried Pieces of Heaven). It's stuffed full of the goods with an excellent, flaky exterior. I can't sing their praises more. The staff was quick and attentive. Couldn't ask for better service. My only complaint is that the Pad Thai needs a tad more sauce but I love sauce so that could just be my opinion. Thanks for a great experience.
