Thai food in Salt Lake! Epic!
This visit to Pad Thai Thai restaurant was a good exercise in trying new places via Yelp and this place did not disappoint! While I will preface this review with "I did takeout only", I will try to be back for a more personable dine in experience whenever my schedule will allow. With that being said, I was here briefly picking up dinner before flying out to Kauai on Labor Day weekend 2014. With prices at the Honolulu International Airport being so pricey, you'd figure more people would just buy food and try to pass it through TSA security. With luck, my Thai food did make it past security without raising suspicions, which was amazing, considering that what I ordered was leaking sauce inside the bag, but I digress. :) I looked up Pad Thai Thai restaurant on yelp and thought this place was decidedly good and I just jumped on it. Only Thai cuisine knows how to cook eggplant so delicious, that it had to be serviced on the menu.
I came here on a brisk Friday after work and it was pretty good. Everyone was out of work and in search of home or a spot for pau Hana time. Pad Thai Thai restaurant is located at the Salt Lake Shopping Center, which is 10 minutes away from the airport, which was cool. The Parking situation can be an annoyance to some, but there is ample parking here for Pad Thai or any other merchants in the shopping mall. For me, I was happy to come here with a friend who agreed to take me here before dropping me off at the airport. But, of course, there are several public transit routes that service the Salt Lake community. The experience here was pleasant and quick. They had their menu plastered on the window near the entrance. After noticing what I wanted, I also noticed the credit cards sticker and the "People love us on Yelp" sticker, so I knew that this was a good place to spend my time and money here. While this was a take out adventure, I would recommend this restaurant to those who enjoy Thai food and are in the Salt Lake area.
What I ultimately ordered was the eggplant basil with sticky rice and a side order of summer rolls. Omg. I hadn't had sticky rice in a long time. The eggplant was great and it was delicious. I should've ordered it spicy, but whatever. There's always next time for sure. The shrimp summer rolls were just okay. I've had better in Vietnamese restaurants, but I guess it works. The restaurant itself is small, but had its own personal touches of a mom and pop operation. Probably was and didn't really notice. The restaurant was clean, decorative, and very orderly. The staff working there were professional and greeted me as I entered the door, with a smile and asked if I wanted to sit down or order take out. Thought that was pretty cool. 4 stars for sure, but maybe a dine in experience would've been better yet. We'll see. For now, the experience was good and looking forward to be back.
