Had hope but was disappointed. First 'the bread bar', where you butter and fry your own bread, sounded like a clever idea but failed miserably. They provide white, wheat or 12 grain sandwich bread and a variety of flavored butters. So we stood there with a group of teenagers who had like 4 pieces of bread each and owned all the hot spots on the grill. We spent 10 minutes to deliver the table 4 pieces of browned Wonder Bread. Ugh. Dinner was a bunch of different pasta dishes. I had seafood pasta. There was an above average portion of seafood, but the dish was totally devoid of any garlic or spice of any kind. Also the pasta was overdone. To top it off, we had to ask the waitress to clear the table of obviously completed dishes. Also we had to ask for salt (?), they gave us one that was totally empty, and it took 5 minutes to get that resolved. So yeah, a good time, but not a good dinner. read more

My husband has a VERY strong stomach , he can pretty much eat anywhere and anything and still feel like going for a run afterwards....him and I both felt very yucky after eating here for breakfast , both had similar egg/potato/pork dishes and it completely ruined our day! We decided to stop here for breakfast. The host was really friendly but the rest of the service was really slow and unfriendly from our server (it felt like he had been binge drinking the night before and would rather be doing anything but working) but I noticed the other servers on shift seemed to be a lot more attentive and engaging. The food seemed really good while reading the menu but we were disappointed when it arrived. It was luke warm and not the most flavorful breakfast. After an early morning trip of visiting Moraine and Peyto Lakes, back to Banff with a stop to Vermilion Lakes and Cave & Basin, we were famished and stopped at Pacini for lunch. With delightful staff, we navigated the menu and settled on the Parmigiana Chicken Wings and the Sausage and Mushroom Pizza. Both hit the spot, and left us content. Their meatballs were decent however, and we did enjoy their napolitana sauce. Paid $20 for a dish I am certain was the frozen individual serving lasagne you can buy at a 7-11. It was the same size and shape, but tasted the same or possibly worse. We had a quick lunch here before checking into the Moose Hotel... Service was good, but the food was just OK. Nothing special. The atmosphere is nice, and the bar area has a high end sports bar vibe. My recommendation would be to try one of the many other options in Banff for lunch. read more

This place is new (3 years) and beautiful! We sat at the bar with a young tender serving drinks. We had the gnocchi and the stuffed cannelloni, tea and a Stella on tap! The gnocchi had a spicy sauce which was very tasty and my husband wanted a meatball which they added to the meal. The cannelloni was average, lacking flavor in the sauce. The tea service was awesome, served in a French press style pot with loose leaves and very flavorful mint leaves. I agree with the other reviewers about the bread bar...it's a great idea but needs better bread. read more

Super disappointing. We ordered cannelloni and spaghetti Napoletana. Food came quickly but both dishes were extremely bland and lacking sauce. The cannelloni had no cheese rolled in the pasta - literally stuffed with just spinach. Also had pieces of raw garlic as garnish - ugh. The spaghetti came almost dry and with no fresh parmesan. Service was fine when we got their attention (servers were overworked and had to work as a team, which resulted in getting wrong drinks). Would not return here. read more

Went here tonight with my husband and my sisters. Early dinner so the place was empty, food took a really long time to arrive, the table next to us got food before we did, even though they were sat like 20 minutes after us. The bread grill was broken, so we couldn't grill our own bread, at least they were decent enough to take it out back to have it grilled, but it's not the same. Food was bland and rather unexceptional. But it was hot and the portions were decent. Our waitress was new so I won't say too much about her, she's learning! read more

If you're looking for Italian food in Banff, do yourself a favour and go literally anywhere else. I generally don't leave such negative reviews but the pasta is what you'd expect from a chef who has never had proper Italian and has no recipe to follow. The Bolognese sauce looks and tastes exactly like a stew, but on noodles. I'm not exaggerating in the least. It was bad. My partner's arrabiata was essentially a sweet tomato soup with chilli flakes tossed in after the fact. We didn't bother with dessert this time but last time we were there, the desserts were tiny and highly overpriced. read more

Went here because we were really hungry. Service was good and friendly. They have a complimentary make your own garlic bread station, which IS cool, but can be annoying if you just want to sit and chat, rather than having to get up and do it yourself. However, I think it would be a fun thing for kids and I see the appeal in this idea. My pasta was quite bland, and I wouldn't eat here again, but maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. The sauce desperately needed some red wine, or garlic, anything to give it some flavor. read more

Beautiful restaurant in a lovely hotel. However, the food is overpriced. The "bread bar" comes with supermarket sandwich bread. Why not have baguettes/sourdough/anything else? Also, the food was served fairly cold, as mentioned in other reviews. Service was wonderful! read more

I'm not one to typically write reviews, but I have to share this so to hopefully serve as a change agent for Pacini and keep those like myself from a pretty terrible experience. 1. Their "Bread Bar" is sliced bread. Enough said. P- How about some flat bread or anything other than sliced bread? 2. The music was noticeably horrendous and loud. Yes, there was a cover of Nirvana. P- Just keep it simple and classy. Trendy isn't for you. 3. The lighting at the table was ridiculously bright. I almost confessed to a crime I didn't commit. P- Get dimmer bulbs and maybe lower the lamps so to not shine in the eyes. 4. Lastly, food was sub par. Expensive and small portions. Authentic Italian is evidently false. I've had better Italian food at Pizza Hut. P- Glad to pay, if it's good. Seriously, you gotta get new recipes. The only reason it's not a one star is because of the service. Pacini, please make changes. There's so much potential. read more

Had high hopes for this Italian restaurant but was quite disappointed. Service was mediocre and wait staff seem poorly trained. I had one of the pizzas and my wife had the shrimp risotto. The pizza was okay however undercooked, a bit doughy and the shrimp risotto was almost in editable, in fact my wife only had a few bites and I only one. The server didn't seem to care that the food tasted poorly. We decided to take a risk on dessert and ordered the cheesecake. I believe none of the food here is freshly made. Cheesecake was pretty awful and berry topping was still a bit frozen. A stale snickers out of the vending machine would have been preferable. Try another restaurant, trust me. read more

Love the atmosphere here. Very classy setup. There is also a garlic bread bar where you can grill toast using a variety of sauces and butters. Food was beyond incredible. We got the salmon with risotto and the steak. They had the best fries we tried all trip. Highly recommend this place! Also, the service was excellent, ask for Sam!!! read more

As we are staying at the Moose Hotel, this our second morning of having breakfast here. Food is just ok. Expensive for what it is. But the service is soooo slow. This restaurant seems to be understaffed. Yesterday was slow, but tolerable. Today our wait seems to be going on 45 min. Tomorrow we will be looking for a different breakfast spot. read more

A group of us went to Pacini on the evening of Dec 28/17 based on our fantastic experience exactly one year prior. My, how things have changed. Our experience this time was both annoying and disappointing. Our server was slow, inefficient and frankly, vacuous. She started by taking some drink orders but not all and then messing up what she brought. Food orders went in then all but one entree came out - a simple bloody pizza. Server blamed it on the kitchen but it was pretty clear by the look on her face where the malfunction had occurred. The pizza finally showed up (in a damn take-out box) after we tracked down the manager and everyone else had already finished their entrees. The food was marginal at best. It seemed the entrees that required the most preparation were the worst (way over-seasoned, overcooked, etc....the sort of stuff you'd expect from an inexperienced or complacent kitchen staff). The gnocchi was brutal - tasted and looked exactly like the microwave gnocchi that McCains hawks in the freezer section. The simpler fare (pizza, spaghetti, cold cut platter) was better....although my 8-year-old could probably pull together something that's just as good. Their "bread grill" is a cute idea - especially if you have kids - but you need bread to make it work properly. Each time we visited the grill, the bread bins were empty (save for a few dried out bread heals). We had to ask two servers and the manager (who, by the way, said he was "too busy") if they could refill the bins before some fellow came out of the back with a couple of loaves of Dempsters. It was pretty apparent that the bread grill is clearly nobody's priority. It just seemed that the restaurant in general was poorly managed - thrown together food, sloppy service, poor handling of issues, and long, long waits for everything. Ate at the Pacini's in north Calgary a few months ago and it was great on all fronts. This tells me that the issue is with this particular location, and not with the Pacini's chain. read more

Had the calamari, caesar salad and pizza. The 'bread bar' was a nice surprise. Calamari was a bit salty but was very well cooked, and the pizza and salad were great. I'd come back. read more

Excellent lunch choice! Suggest the duetto which is half a pizza and a caesar salad. This was enough for a light lunch for the two of us. On top of this, they have a complimentary Bread Bar with grilled bread and spread. Service was attentive but slow. Very good Italian menu with pics of dishes. Average entree is about $26 U. S. Menu appeals to the international crowd. Prices are slightly above reasonable. Very nice interior with big windows to look at the mountains. Very nice waitstaff. Four stars because the service could be more efficient. And we are here for the second time. read more
