My designer, Mary Jennings, listened closely to my vision and translated it into a beautiful, functional layout that exceeded my expectations. Once construction began, Project Manager Marcel Moore kept everything running like clockwork, ensuring the timeline stayed on track and keeping me updated every step of the way. The craftsmanship is top-tier. Construction Tech Isaias Sanchez laid a flawless foundation for the work, and Finish Carpenter Ben Hawes executed the detailed woodwork with absolute precision--his attention to detail is truly impressive. Additionally, Javier Madrigal, the electrician, was efficient, neat, and made sure all the lighting and electrical elements were perfectly placed and up to code. If you want a team that delivers high-quality work, communicates well, and respects your home, I highly recommend Mary, Marcel, Isaias, Ben, and Javier at Remodel Works Kitchen and Bath. I am already planning for my next project, and they will be who I choose. Thank you all so much!

Extremely Disappointing Experience -- Poor Workmanship, Poor Quality Control, and Even Worse…read moreCommunication I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience with Remodel Works was frustrating enough that I feel obligated to share it so other homeowners can make an informed decision. First, the cabinets arrived incorrectly and were actually installed incorrectly. What concerns me almost as much as the mistake itself is that nobody from the company appeared to recognize the problem until I personally pointed it out. Where were the checks and balances? Does anyone verify that materials match the order before installation? Does anyone inspect the work afterward? Unfortunately, that was just the beginning. Before our shower glass was installed, I had extensive conversations with the salesperson/project manager about exactly what we wanted. We specifically discussed having clear glass, and I even showed him photographs of a shower installation we had completed at another property so there could be no confusion. We were also extremely specific that the shower glass and door opening were to be installed exactly as they had been before the original glass was removed. This was not an ambiguous request or something left to the installer's discretion. Nevertheless, the glass was installed in a completely different configuration, with the door opening from the wrong location and the hinges positioned toward the middle of a large glass section. Not only was this awkward and impractical, but other experienced contractors, including the professionals who ultimately corrected the installation, expressed concerns about the suitability of that configuration and the support for the weight of the glass. I've looked at countless shower installations in magazines, online, and in homes, and I've never encountered the kind of awkward arrangement they installed. More importantly, it was not what we requested or agreed upon. When I raised concerns about the glass itself, the company resorted to technical terminology to justify how glass that wasn't what an ordinary homeowner would consider clear could nevertheless qualify as a particular type of "clear" glass. This was especially frustrating given our detailed conversations and the photographs I had provided specifically to avoid misunderstandings. Then came the communication, which was arguably the most disappointing part of the entire experience. George Habib, the owner of Remodel Works, personally assured me that someone from his company would return my call by the end of that day. When that promised callback never came, I sent a text message to the project manager shortly after 5 p.m., simply following up on the commitment George himself had made. Instead of addressing the missed callback, George subsequently sent me a video message criticizing me for contacting his employee after business hours. Even more surprising, he never introduced himself or identified his position with the company in the video. I initially had no idea who was addressing me. I found the tone condescending and the criticism completely misplaced. The owner personally promised a callback, his company failed to follow through, and then he criticized the customer for following up on that very promise. In my opinion, that speaks volumes about the company's approach to customer service. And here's the part I find particularly unbelievable: After all these mistakes, Remodel Works refused to correct the shower glass installation unless we paid full retail price to have it fixed. We ultimately hired another company to correct the problem and paid substantially LESS than Remodel Works wanted to charge us to correct its own installation. Mistakes happen in construction. I understand that completely. What separates a reputable company from a disappointing one is how it takes responsibility, communicates with its customers, and resolves problems. In this case, we experienced inadequate quality control, failure to follow clear instructions, poor communication, defensiveness, and an unwillingness to make things right without charging us additional money. For a remodeling company entrusted with someone's home and a substantial financial investment, I expected considerably better. consider yourself informed

Like any major…read moreproject, we started by reaching out to a couple of vendors to get quotes, that's where we met Alon, the project manager for Lumina Builders. What immediately stood out to us was that he had ideas and solutions to address our pain points and make enhancements, we wouldn't have ever considered, and didn't just wait for us to tell him how we wanted things. He created a vision for us in that first quote visit. The other contractor we spoke to didn't provide any ideas just asked us how we wanted it. It was a very easy decision to go with Alon and Lumina Builders. Our project was estimated to take 2-3 months and ultimately took two and a half months to complete. We designed a brand new kitchen, addressing all of our concerns and adding a few recommendations from Alon to streamline some areas. They ripped everything out aside from the flooring and walls. We got brand new custom cabinets, custom lighting, and new countertops. Our fridge was moved to a new, more accessible area. Our sink was shifted down to align with the stove for continuity sake (never realized how much I hated it being in a corner previously). We had a new little cabinet built in our little breakfast nook area and we had an appliance garage built to house everything that took up counter space. Everything is so much brighter and more open and, even though we know the demensions are roughly the same, it feels so much wider. We are ecstatic with how everything came out. Alon is a genius. He was responsive to us throughout the project, checking in weekly to see how things were going, giving us peace of mind throughout this process, as first time remodelers. We were indecisive about the primary cabinet color (I was very worried we'd be stuck with something we didn't really like) but he worked with the cabinet makes to give us several samples to choose from. He was very patient with us. We LOVE how everything turned out! We'll definitely be using Lumina Builders for all of our future projects.

Two weeks later, I left messages for both Heather and her operations assistant but did not hear back. Reached out again some time later, and was told they were waiting on one supplier quote. Never heard from them again. It is now May 17. I prefer to use Escondido suppliers whenever possible, and the Design Moe office is less than a mile walk from my house. This experience has been disappointing, and the lack of communication was the worst part. If a $15K laundry room was too small of a job, or Design Moe had too much work in the queue, I would have accepted that. But ghosting potential new clients is not a way to run a business.
