Within one year of spending nearly $8,000 on new kitchen appliances, our range hood made a noise like someone sawing through logs and the oven\microwave unit completely died. In the interest of brevity, I will just address the oven unit. We filed a claim through warranty and from beginning to end it took FOUR MONTHS to solve the problem. Bray and Scarff kept sending out the same technician who would get on an iPad and look up the manual and decide he was missing parts. This happened multiple times until my husband used AI and printed out EXACTLY what was wrong and showed it to the technician. He ignored him and it took two more visits and a call to corporate to finally get it fixed. Now, about 14 months later we are having THE SAME EXACT ISSUE with the appliance. I called today and was told that after a year the Bray and Scarff warranty company deletes ALL previous service issues after a year, so we are starting from scratch. And the "corporate" woman who assured us that should we EVER have a problem again with the appliance to contact her directly told us today that the warranty "changed their policy" and she can't help us (Hollie Sweeney, sorry, we saved ALL the emails). I don't know how this story is going to end but I can guess. Do not purchase anything from this company and definitely DO NOT purchase any warranties. We were pushed into it by our salesman at the Columbia location. This company should be sued in a class action law suit.

Even better, you can sign up for the once a month cooking demonstrations (or new owner use and care classes). After initiating a purchase of a dishwasher at another place that I won't name here and having some issues my boyfriend put me in the car and drove me out to Rockville to hit the ABW outlet. I was resistant but boy am I glad he did. We got there kinda late but Tim, who we were lucky enough to have as our sales contact, took allllll of the time we needed to help us out that night. He looked up several different gas range models one of which I really fell in love with that night. We completed our purchase the next day and the whole process was a dream. I'm huge on communication when I'm spending thousands of dollars and Tim and the ABW team we're on top of it. Everything was well communicated, from the initial site visit to the final installation. The tech who did our gas range installation was kind enough to give us some advice should the dishwasher I'd just procured from their competitors that was sitting in my living room uninstalled still be an issue after my second installation appointment. I almost wanted to cancel my order with their competitors and just buy everything through them!! We will be continuing to upgrade our kitchen as we complete our remodel and will be working with Tim and ABW the whole way. Excellent pricing and professionalism the whole way around. There really is a better way to buy appliances, and these guys are it.

Know your right to to refuse appliances that do NOT work (do not let them install it, you accept a broken/non-working product and then send a tech to fix it). And, prepare to spend a LOT of time dealing with them if there are any hassles. My washer went out, and I needed a replacement urgently. I came into their showroom and spoke with one of their sales team. He strongly pushed me toward two options, an Electrolux 517 or an Electrolux 617 both for the same price. I, of course, chose the 617 (the Electrolux 617 online gets great reviews, the 517 not quite as much). I was told by the sales guy that they'd be delivered on the following Tuesday, early Wednesday at the absolute latest. I paid for it, and waited to hear from the delivery people. The next day, I was told that the delivery would be on Friday, not Tuesday (3 days later). Ugh. The clothes are piling up. So, the delivery day rolls around, and they show up to deliver the unit. When it's installed, it 100% does not work. It lights up, but doesn't take water, and the door locks and won't open. They tell me to hang out and wait for the service team to come and look at the unit. I say that's not acceptable. I call the sales person, and while I'm talking with them, the service people leave, leaving the unit behind. So, in talking with folks (sales and service are "different divisions" and seem to use that as an excuse for why things can't get done), I finally get them to understand that I'm not going to wait several days for a service tech to come out and repair a BRAND NEW unit. They agree to pick it up and work on some options for me. After several hours, I reach back out to them to see what they plan to do. Note that they told me if we get a solution today, it could be delivered tomorrow. IF not, then it will be 5 days before they can deliver it. So, obviously, it's URGENT that I get something selected. They close at 6pm. At 5pm I call, and they offer me the "lower version" of the same product ("517") for the same price as I paid for the 617. Or, they said I could get the 627 (the newer unit) for $100 more, as they didn't have any more of the 617. After a LOT of hassle, they said they could do the 627 for the same price as the 617 they sold me. BUT, they have to verify the warranty (which makes no sense to me. If it's a new unit, why do they need to verify the warranty?). The next day, they finally delivered a working dishwasher. But, there was tooo much hassle and headache. Appliances a better way? Hrm... As a last note, my next door neighbor's washer went out about 2 weeks ago as well. They purchased from this same place. Their first unit was DOA as well. So, be SUPER careful. Make sure you get a solid test wash, and that things are working.

We had previously visited Costco and Lowe's, but after reviewing their in-store selections, we weren't satisfied with the available options. Brian, who works in the appliance department, was very helpful. We initially considered side-by-side models; however, we quickly realized that the size would make it difficult to fit through our doorway. Brian explained that delivery contractors no longer remove refrigerator doors when the unit has an exterior ice and water dispenser due to the internal hose connections. There was one side-by-side model available in stock, but it was far too small for our needs. Brian then suggested a counter-depth option. While this wasn't my first choice--since I do prefer having an exterior ice and water dispenser--we ultimately decided it was the best fit given the limitations. The delivery contractors arrived within the scheduled time window and were both friendly and efficient. So far, we are very pleased with our new refrigerator and truly appreciate Brian's guidance throughout the process.

Then we bought a machine from a big box hardware store that came in the box damaged. In the defense of that store, at least the person who sold the machine had some information. Once that happened, I went and did my own research and found out that the first saleperson really didn't want to sell anything the day we walked in his store, so we figured we would try another high end appliance store to buy what we wanted in the first place, which was another Bosch dishwasher. The salesperson did not pressure us, he took the time to answer the questions we had and their price was the same as the other stores we had been to. We had them deliver and unbox it which ended with us getting a machine that was in good shape. Husband installed it and we are very happy with it. ABW handles a lot of high end appliances, so if you are looking for something that is of good quality, this is the store for you. VERY happy with our purchase and we will remember them for the next purchase we make! lol

Overall, the…read morequality, workmanship, and attention to details were highly evident throughout the entire project. The project manager, Jason, was on site every 2-3 days to ensure the work was proceeding as discussed. He was easily reachable by phone during the entire project. VKB was able to place 2 teams on site which allowed the work to be completed in 4.5 weeks instead of 6-7 weeks which would have been normal. The team lead on site, Walter, was easy to talk to and was very knowledgeable on all aspects of the project (demolition, prep, electrical, plumbing, fixtures, paint, etc.). He has an excellent team of workers that rotated across the various tasks in each bathroom. My wife and I were very pleased at the finished results. Everything came together very nicely. We would highly recommend VKB for your bathroom remodeling. With that said, I offer a few suggestions for potential clients to consider. Customers should make sure they know exactly what they want to do. While change orders can be made after the project is started, it costs more than if the project scope was defined from the beginning. Also, I recommend looking at www.build.com to pre-select the fixtures that are needed prior to scheduling the meeting with the designer. Trying to select all the fixtures for the bathroom within 60-90 minutes in the showroom can be challenging.

Following a devastating house fire that displaced our family, our homeowners insurance company informed us that its investigation determined that issues related to the fireplace installation were the cause of the fire. We were also informed by the fire investigator that the fireplace renovation had been completed without the required county permit. Had the proper permitting process been followed, the work may have been subject to county inspection before completion, potentially providing an opportunity for installation issues to be identified. The fire caused extensive damage to our home, which is expected to take approximately 12 months to rebuild. Beyond the financial impact, being displaced from our home and dealing with the aftermath has taken an enormous physical and emotional toll on our family. Based on our experience and the information provided to us following the fire, I cannot recommend this company. If you are considering a home renovation, I strongly encourage you to research everyone involved in the project, verify that all required permits are obtained, and confirm that required inspections are completed. A renovation should improve your home, not put your family's safety at risk or turn your life upside down for years.
