I contacted Pacific Heights Tile after I had my "bathroom redo" was botched. The first guys did a terrible job, the floor of the shower was poorly put in and it was not angled to the drain so there were "bird baths" and it didn't drain properly. Stephen came over and assessed what had happened. Basically, the entire floor of the shower had to be redone including redoing the membrane. You can see before and after. Stephen did a fantastic job, he took out the floor; he had to take out the membrane and put in another and he was meticulous. He then put in the tile and you can see for yourself; it's beautiful. He also had to take out the shower curb and pointed it towards the shower so the water will flow into the shower and not towards the floor - the previous guys angled t towards the floor. Stephen was tidy too, he never left a mess and he cleaned up. I will have him do my kitchen when I get to it. He is a professional journeyman artist/tiler setter. read more

Steve renovated my bathroom, removing all floor to ceiling tiles, the toilet, vanity and all fixtures. He retiled and painted, and replaced the toilet, vanity, medicine cabinet and all fixtures. The bathroom is in an Edwardian building the walls required a lot of prep work. Steve worked with an amazing plasterer and painter that made the walls superb and was even able to match the Edwardian base boards in the rest on the apartment. Steve's tiling work was amazing. After reading his 5 Star reviews on Yelp!, I hired Steve for a fairly major bathroom remodel and really could not be more pleased with how easy and flexible he was to work with and how incredibly awesome the bathroom turned out. I have a circa 1927 house in the Marina that, other than a really tragic 60s era remodeled bathroom, pretty much looks the period. Steve helped us completely gut Formica cabinets, etc., then meticulously prepped the floor and walls for the tile. We put in a herringbone Carerra marble floor and period subway tile and trim for the wainscot. The floor and tile work is flawless. Steve is easy to work with, has great ideas and was really very helpful when we had to make various decisions along the way. Steve is amazing. I had to get my existing shower wall replaced due to plumbing work that needed to be done. Due to the way my unit was built, the only way to do this was to rip up the walls to get at the defective pipes behind it. Steve removed the original wall, including the existing shower door, replaced them with really nice tile and cleaned everything up afterward. He was extremely flexible, even after some scheduling hassles with the plumber that I was told to use by my HOA. I highly recommend Steve for any tile work that you might have. I have had tile work done in my apartment on Russian Hill in the past by someone whose work and personality I was less than happy with, so when the walls of my bathroom got water damage again, I asked my landlord if we could hire a better bathroom and tile person. And he did. Stephen has been extra courteous, efficient and his work is excellent. There was a lot of dry rot and damage, and he effectively took care of it while co-ordinated with the plumbers. This year I decided to remodel my Mother's bathroom to make it fully accessible. That project required its complete demolition and the instillation of a fully-accessible shower without an entry curb. Having worked with Pacific Heights Tile & Marble in the past when they worked on my condominium association's building here in San Francisco, I knew a difficult job would be in very good hands. Steve's work is excellent, and he puts all of himself into everything he does. The bathroom is quite small which made it a challenging project. Steve helped me select the absolutely perfect materials and his workmanship (and on-site cleanliness) couldn't be beat. One of the most important parts of a bathroom remodel is to ensure that the waterproofing is perfect. Steve repeatedly tested each stage of the waterproofing before moving onto the next stage. I know what I was looking at and was highly impressed with his care. Another critical aspect of this remodel was ensuring that the bathroom drain worked perfectly, especially since it was to be curb-free. The end result: The drain works perfectly. In addition, his demolition, plumbing, painting, and shower door supplier (South City Shower Door & Window Works) provided work and product of the highest quality. Steve Warner is amazing - a truly skilled craftsman who pays attention to detail and charges fair prices!! We live in an 1895 Victorian with the original marble steps and tile landings. The marble was badly stained, tiles were missing and there were substantial underlying settlement cracks. Steve worked tirelessly to find the perfect design for our landings and then executed it flawlessly. The tiles we selected required a special $2,000 saw for an extra clean cut and Steve purchased it out of pocket so our job would be perfect. He used several methods to refresh our tired marble. And he fixed several structural issues as each was discovered. Thanks to Steve, we now have beautifully renewed marble steps and new historically correct landings, plus repaired infrastructure. In our condo building we have natural limestone marble on the floor in the lobby. After years of having no maintenance done on it, the floor was looking dirty and lackluster. I called Pacific Heights Title & Marble and Steve came over very quickly and estimated the job fairly. We scheduled the work and he came out consecutive days and the job was done when promised. He did excellent work, hand cleaning and polish/sealing the stairs. The floor had a large stain on it from an old planter box which he very effectively was able to remove. He is extremely pleasant and professional. Other residents in the building have complimented Steve on the wonderful renewal of the marble. After reading all the great reviews on Yelp, I contacted the business by e-mail on a Tuesday. I received a response that business will contact me the following day. The following day, the contractor telephone me and we made an appointment for a site visit for the upcoming Saturday, at 9:00 am. Right after the phone call, I inquire by e-mail whether I could reschedule for an hour earlier. Not hearing from anyone, I called the following day and left a voicemail message. Never received a response. Saturday was fast approaching and I arranged for my husband to meet with the contractor for the 9:00 am appointment. The contractor arrived at 9:45 (late). Contractor said the arrangement with me was that he would arrive between 9:00 to 9:30. Not so. My husband also made a comment to contractor that I tried contacting the business by phone and e-mail for an earlier appointment and contractor said he received neither message. Contractor declined to give us an estimate during the visit probably due to the already rocky start. This review is about the business practice and not about the quality of the work. read more
