They emailed me last minute to say they'd do a smaller sink than I had specified and I didn't see the email until it was too late. They were about to do the small sink but fortunately I was onsite and caught the issue in time. They made it work with a proper size sink. Even with these glitches I still was satisfied and would absolutely work with them again. The price was similar to what I'd paid several years ago for a similar sized job so I would consider their overall offering to be very competitively priced.

You can see from the photos below that Gregory did a beautiful professional job on my project, working with the architect/designer who had suggested the built-ins, and responding to my particular requests. Fitting new cabinetry into an old wooden building required a lot of customization during installation, and Gregory was definitely up to the task - as mentioned by other reviewers he is easy to work with, creative, flexible, with an "incredible eye." He did all the installation and finishing himself (with a helper). To be fair, it took Gregory longer than he had estimated to make and install the cabinetry, but it was definitely worth the wait and he was very responsive and obliging throughout the process. The quality and value were top notch; the cost was about 50-60% that of the estimates I received from online cabinetry firms I contacted. Definitely a 5 star experience - thank you Gregory!

The bookcases on each side of the center chest piece was his idea too and it was such a clever use of space and it looks great. Truly, we cannot recommend him enough for his skill, taste, and he's really just the nicest guy. If we could get ten stars we would!! And his partner is awesome. They are the greatest team.

There are several finish issues, and while they've endeavored to address this, the doors continue to have a different finish and blemishes. They didn't protect the floor in the last few visits, and their ladders scarred our flooring. They also did not adjust the doors to line up, leaving us with uneven spacing, bulging centers, and misaligned bottoms. The worst problem is the communication. It takes months of attempting to reach them via email, voicemail, and phone calls to get a single response, with several months between visits to get any progress. For example, our last visit was at the beginning of April. It's currently the end of July, and we've been unable to reach them this entire time. Their prices are very expensive, and we expected a higher standard commensurate with the price that we did not receive. We would vastly prefer to work this matter privately and not have to resort to reviews, or if matters persevere, taking more severe actions, but not sure what to do at this juncture.

I wish I got more updates during construction but they sent them whenever I asked. I liked that they were very contentious about talking with my neighbor when their van was blocking a little bit of their driveway--a lot of contractors wouldn't bother. I also had another neighbor who was causing some issues and they kept me in the loop, which I appreciated. - Price: I talked to several contractors and their price was pretty reasonable--not the lowest nor the highest, more in the middle. Cons: - After construction, I noticed some damage on parts that were supposed to be protected. They were minor damages, but annoying. The most noticeable one was a dent on my TV, which left a white dot that I see every time I turn on my TV, which sucks. - In terms of details, I noticed that there were some dings in pretty noticeable parts of the wood. I don't know if it was the crew or the wood came like that, but when I was testing a wood sample before purchasing, I hit the wood with a hammer and it didn't leave a mark, so it would take a lot of force to leave a dent like the one pictured. Kinda disappointing because the dent is smack in the middle of a high traffic area. Some last notes: - David came by to do a final walk through and helped me move some of the heavier furniture back. It didn't bother me but if you're expecting furniture to be put back the way it was originally, you'll want to manage your expectations. - You should definitely hire painters and cleaners after the construction--I didn't think the walls were going to be as scuffed up as they were. And everything will be superrrr dusty, even if it's covered. - When I expressed concern about not all baseboards being replaced, which I thought was the scope of work, he explained that he told his crew to use existing baseboards when possible. He said he did this to save me some cost and offered me $150 to cover the savings. I generally feel positive about this, although if I hadn't mentioned it I don't think it would've come up, so take that for what it's worth.

I think it's important folks know…read moreabout this experience so see below: ______________________ I had such a bad experience with Mission Home which I know will look bonkers given the 5 star reviews. I was definitely persuaded by these reviews - and now will question every business that has 5 star reviews. Do your homework and don't be fooled. Project took much longer than what it should have because they were disorganized and would forget certain things (the foreman would even admit that the PM should have told me certain things!) that I would have imagined a contractor had down pat in terms of sequencing. They use some subcontractors and you are at the mercy of their schedules. They just are not organized (you will do a lot of the reminding, checking in, following up, and certain things still may not happen). They failed inspections meaning more cost (it is their job to pass these! It says this in any contract!) If it seemed as though I was questioning something, the PM got defensive and sometimes unprofessional, gaslighting me in a very aggressive manner. I saved the communication, in fact. The people I worked with directly were young and it showed in the almost-too-casual style of communication and lack of professionalism. I surrendered towards the end and just wanted the project done and everyone gone. I feel completely foolish that I went with the significantly higher estimate thinking it would offer a smooth, superior experience. The actual people who did the work worked hard though and did nice work - hence the two stars. But at the end of the day, it's actually hard to enjoy the work as I am reminded by the months of bad experiences - up to the very end. You can find more experienced contractors out there for equal quality of workmanship and for a more competitive price. I am using a different contractor now for other work at the property - it's a 180 degree difference - they have a dedicated team for my project, meaning time to completion is more accurate and on time; they have a dedicated person to procure the finishes and fixtures, not myself; they are way more organized and even provided me a timeline of what to expect and communicate with me what time they are showing up and what progress was made that day (!!); they are bringing a truly expert eye with attention to detail that ELEVATES the space and are teaching me to ask things I didn't even know I should KNOW to ask; and most importantly, I feel truly comfortable asking questions without defensiveness and aggressive steamrolling in their answers. I received none of this level of care or expertise with MHR, and I want you to know that you should expect these things!!!

I think the company is very picky on clients and like to see if they have enough money to pay for their service. If they think we cannot afford it, they will just cut all the communications. Another contractor couldn't start until two weeks later. Alex made a site visit and was very personable. With the lead time, we chose Alex. Right when we chose him, he wanted to start that day! I said OK. That afternoon the demolition began. In two weeks he completed the job. He will work around your schedule. We had a family incident and needed to push back the work a day. We also had to wait a few days for the faucet to be delivered. The hours are up to you. We were OK with his team working into the late evening to get the job done because we were down a bathroom. Vitali and Alex work really really hard and long hours. There were some up sale items, but we picked which ones we wanted. Our vanity was in bad shape; so we updated the vanity, sink, backsplash and faucet. Alex quoted us a great price and offered to do tile flooring which would have made the bathroom even nicer, but we decided that the flooring would be fine. Maybe save that for the next remodel. Going through any type of remodel or home update is emotional and risky. We did a home remodel years back and that's when we learned you can really only choose two of the three: quality, cost, or speed. With Alex we were able to get close to all three. Obviously your home is very dear, and there are small little things that you can sweat over. Your home will never be perfect. Not a year goes by without some work that needs to be done to my home. Things get old and break down. There are many things that I would do over, but everyday I go into my newly updated bathroom and smile.

Cabinet World did a spectacular job installing granite counters for me. The under mount sink is perfectly centered and they installed both counters without upsetting the house or making any mess. I had purchased the material from another supplier and there were some hairline cracks that I had not seen. The folks from Cabinet World helped me to exchange the material for better pieces. I really appreciate the extra patience that they gifted to me so that my project could come out so well. Wanted to redo the kitchen cabinets during the pandemic and lucked into finding this place. Kaitlyn made a plan for the kitchen with an eye for catching mistakes (we had a few) and visualizing space. Her computer skills were matched by her friendly and helpful approach and high quality cabinets which look great in our kitchen. Real wood, not chipboard at an excellent price. Before Charlotte I had talked to 2 other designers (other companies) to mock up a kitchen, but they completely failed to listen to the design brief and spec'ed a cookie cutter kitchen that was a poor use of the space. Charlotte carefully listened to what we want*, and then delivered on the design with great suggestions. She was the only designer we talked to that had both the talent and empathy to deliver. She is detail oriented with both the usability of the kitchen and measurements, and is also able to have good discussions about quality-cost trade offs: Will the ADU door open, with the fridge so close? Is there enough space on each side of the hob for cooking? Are the upper cabinets easy to reach? What materials to make the cabinet boxes? What custom elements are needed to create a built-in look, etc, etc... it just goes on and she's on top of it all! Gilman's then delivered the kitchen on time and drama-free, and also arranged a great carpenter to make some final adjustments. Mike came out to my house and measured the space, and they put together a proposal for Design-Craft frameless cabinets. I had a few changes to the design, which Jessie made promptly. Once the order was placed, it was about 6 weeks before the cabinets were delivered. The cabinets caused my contractor a few problems to install because they were not all perfectly straight, but he made it work, and they look fantastic. My advice to future clients is that these cabinets are not custom, so expectations should be set accordingly. That said, they are lovely installed. I also ordered Caesarstone countertops from QKC, who subs this out to a local stone company. They came out, made their template, and were back in a little over a week for install. They have had to come back once already to fix a tiny chip, and Mike is having them come out again to fix a seam that does not look perfect. Given my experience so far, I hope and expect they'll do a good job with this as well. I definitely recommend QKC, and Mike and Jessie in particular, if you are looking for a reasonably priced one stop shop for cabinets and countertops in SF.

It takes months of attempting to reach them via email, voicemail, and phone calls to get a single response, with several months between visits to get any progress. For example, our last visit was at the beginning of April. It's currently the end of July, and we've been unable to reach them this entire time. Their prices are very expensive, and we expected a higher standard commensurate with the price that we did not receive. We would vastly prefer to work this matter privately and not have to resort to reviews, or if matters persevere, taking more severe actions, but not sure what to do at this juncture.

She's kind, gentle, patient, and has an art degree from a San Francisco college. She knows how to match the perfect stone to my taste. Philip, who handled the technical aspects of the stone work, was also great. He's very patient, and a perfectionist. Their fabrication/installation crew was also very detail oriented and did a great job for us. MG Stone Work charged a very fair price for their high-quality work and is a one stop shop (they also sell the stones if you prefer buying from them), and I can't recommend them enough to anyone who wants beautiful stonework and great customer service.
