This company has gone down hill. They did a good job on the install in 2018. But the customer service is bad. Megan has completely disappeared. I was trying to work with them to fix my quartz. There is a dull spot about 2ft in an area that lost the shine. Carlos came out and tried to repair it to no avail. He also charged me $400 to clean my countertops hoping that would fix it (Megan told me after they came that they charge $175/hr). And he cleaned the countertops with bleach and acetone which the manufacturer later told me immediately voids the warranty. He promised to bring back some products to see if they would fix it and never came back. They also refused to respond to me when it came to submitting a warranty request with the manufacturer. I would absolutely not recommend this company if you are hoping for any level of customer service or post install service. read more

I recently had a major remodel done to my house. Stoneman took care of my kitchen counter tops as well as my family room built ins and my new master bathroom. I used Silestone, Limestone and Marble. Every surface looks amazing thanks to Stoneman. I found Stoneman after calling about five other fabricators. Megan not only responded immediately to my phone call, but she also had a estimate prepared the very next day. No other fabricators came close to that. After receiving the other estimates I soon realized that Stoneman was the most reasonable too. I knew nothing about Stone/countertops before I called. Megan took the time to go over everything I needed to know and she never made me feel like I was wasting her time. She is very attentive and extremely knowledgeable about stone and the way it is fabricated. Carlos was just as incredible as Megan. There was a problem with the limestone when it was delivered and Carlos pointed out that the two slabs looked very different and I might not like them once they were installed. I didn't know what to do because the stone place didn't have more of the slabs I had chosen. As I was freaking out, Carlos worked his magic and was able to template all my counter tops on one slab! The installation in my home was by far the best experience out of any sub that came into my house. I highly recommend Stoneman for superior customer service and craftsmanship. read more

Seriously? Don't look any further....You have Found the BEST fabricator on the Peninsula! I found these guys on Yelp, and am thrilled to say they truly are a first class business. From the email correspondence, to fabrication, and final install...my husband and I both couldn't be more pleased. Megan is extremely helpful and reasonable with costs and correspondence. Carlos was exceptional at going the extra mile to let me visit the fabrication shop and pick the layout with the templates...exactly the way we wanted the material to showcase in our kitchen. He was very knowledgeable at explaining the benefits to having veins in certain areas, and a master at helping me find ways to hide/eliminate imperfections. When the crew arrived for our final install, they spent several hours on our kitchen counters and island...refining, polishing, and ensuring a smooth transition between seams. I also requested a 2" bullnose, which they upgraded for me at no additional cost. After the job was complete, Carlos offered us the extra material if we wanted it....I called back and gave them measurements for a cutting board that would slide in and fit my old pullout wooden cutting block...which they fabricated out of my same material, as well as a filler piece behind my viking at no additional charge and actually seemed happy to be able to go the little "extra" mile for us. I feel its important to note....My husband and I generally believe in the philosophy that "you get what you pay for" but in this instance, not true!! We had three estimates for fabrication of our slabs for our kitchen, and the first company was more than double, and the second took 2 followup calls and emails for me to even get them to come and give me an estimate and they were also much higher than Stoneman. As a small independent remodeling contractor I was happy to find a reliable stone fabricating shop in the SF area. In the last 10 years there has been a large influx of people who fabricate stone on the sidewalk in front of your house , most of those companies produce low quality installations of countertops and most clients don't know better. Stoneman Fabrications are a dedicated shop with the proper tooling to meet the needs of a picky contractor like myself. My experience with Stoneman was just OK. I did have a hard material to work with, and I love my countertops, but I do have some issues. I haven't had any other countertops installed in my house by anyone else, so don't know if this is the norm. The seam on my countertop is very noticeable. We had tried to lay it out on the granite so that there will be no seams, but unfortunately, I guess the weight of one part of the countertop was too much so it couldn't be done. Carlos did tell me about this possibility so this wasn't too big of a deal. I think the seams could be less noticeable though. My friend's countertop seams are hardly there at all. The edge of my raised countertop is not completely straight. So there is a big, diagonal gap between the plywood and the bottom of my countertop. Very noticeable and it annoys me every time I see it. We didn't receive the cutting board that was supposed to be made for us from our sink cut out unfortunately. Otherwise, Carlos and Megan were pretty easy to work with. Carlos laid out our countertop and backsplash perfectly on our granite so we didn't have to buy an extra slab. That was well appreciated. read more

We purchased our granite slab from IRG in Brisbane and at the recommendation of our contractor, had it delivered to Stoneman. Our contact was Megan and she did a fantastic job - great communication, answered all our questions, and made the process as transparent and painless as we could ever hope. We met with Carlos in the SF "workshop" and he walked us through the fab process - we knew exactly what we were getting in terms of cut, layout, look, etc. The team arrived on Saturday to install the granite - quickly, efficiently, and accurately. Just professional through and through. Carlos told us that there may be seams here and there but they are barely discernible - that's where skill and attention to detail really come into play. The kitchen reno process can be time consuming, full of headaches, and more expensive than expected. That's to be expected. But not with Stoneman. They did an outstanding job ... on time and on budget. read more

I have just two words..........Stay Away! I have been a general contractor for over 36 years, and this is by far the worst stone fabrication company I have ever used! I contracted with this company for a hotel renovation project to replace vanity tops and tub enclosures, and it was a disaster from beginning to end. As with any construction project, this required coordinated scheduling with all of the sub-contractors, and I discovered the hard way that Stoneman works on their own schedule. The Stoneman crew consistently failed to show up as scheduled, not just for days, but for weeks. I was unable to contact Carlos who ran the crew, as he would not share his phone number. This meant I could only contact Megan in the office when the installation crew failed to show up as scheduled. Her favorite line was "They will be there tomorrow", or "They are busy on other jobs', with complete disregard for the schedule of my project. After causing weeks of delays, I eventually had to postpone a large portion of the project, and hire a new fabricator to come in and complete the job. As if the scheduling issues were not bad enough, the quality of their work was well below acceptable. They would not cut the tub enclosure pieces out of the same slab, so we had unnecessary color variations in many of the bathrooms. When they discovered that the copper tub spout pipes were making installation difficult for them, they simply cut them off, without consulting me. My plumbers had to come back and repair the pipes with brass nipples, which meant I had to buy all new tub spouts for the project. And their crew managed to get caulking on everything except the granite. We had to re-wallpaper multiple bathrooms because the caulking mess would not clean off. I should also mention the 9 remaining slabs that I had purchased and supplied to Stoneman. When I terminated our working relationship, these slabs were held hostage unless I paid for thousands of $ in extras that did not exist! I could go on, but I think I have made my dissatisfaction fairly clear. read more

Unfortunately, it was my experience that, like so many home vendors these days, after the final check is written Stoneman fails miserably in the areas of communication, follow-up, and ethics. For example, beware of the promised gift of a trivet for giving them your business! Because you will not be getting it if Megan does not find you "appreciative" enough. I need the windowsill adjusted and cannot put up the backsplash until it is. I've been asking about it for two weeks. I told Megan that it was not centered and a small piece on one side needed to be cut and polished to make it even. I became frustrated when I did not hear back from Megan. Here is an excerpt of our long email trail. Very mature and professional, is she not? "Megan I asked about the trivet three weeks ago. I asked about the sill 2 weeks ago. With all due respect, that's not stellar customer service, but yes, I will be happy if we see some action on it next week. And PS, you do do beautiful work. That is not in question" ----M" "M -----, Whether your my client or not I do not allow people to talk to me the way you are. You need to have a little more respect, bottom line. We can come by on wednesday after 5pm. As for the free trivet, you will not be getting one, i only make those FREE gifts to clients that are appreciative, and you are not. You can come pick up your remnants if there are any when ever you would like. Thank you, Megan" We live in San Mateo, Megan's office is in San Mateo, and they are supposed to come fix the sill on Wednesday... but to get my remnants ("if there are any") I have to go to the warehouse in San Francisco as Megan says below: "Any time, you will need to go to the warehouse, I need to have it pulled out and set aside, so a days notice is necessary. Nice, huh? So no, I do not reccommend Stoneman Fabrications. UPDATE: Carlos did come on Wednesday to fix the window sill and .... he brought my trivet! I am upgrading this rating from 1 to 2 because of him. He is good at what he does and the counters look great. But honestly, I can't go higher than 2 since if I had to do it again, I would not choose Stoneman because of Megan. read more

We had a horrible experience with this company. We had confirmed an all-day appointment beginning at 8am. By 9:30 when they failed to show up we contacted the owner of the company, Megan, who at first had no idea who we were or why we were calling. When we reminded her of the appointment she told us that in her confusion she "flipped" the date on her calendar. When we explained that we had rearranged our day including taking off a day of work she hung up on us. Later she emailed us and told us that she didn't appreciate our "attitude" and did not feel "comfortable" working with us. Her attitude was dismissive and unprofessional; furthermore she never apologized for her scheduling error and the resulting inconvenience. Megan has a terrible disposition and if her attitude is a reflection of the quality of their work then this company should be avoided. read more

I originally had 4 -74"by 120" slabs sent to the fabrication shop to do my kitchen remodel. I didn't like the first slab template layout because I prefer the counters to mostly match the back splash so I purchased another slab, each costing $2,500, and met with Carlos to do the new layout. The #1 kitchen island/hallway counter top slab remained the same and the butlers pass-through slab was picked so all we had to do was the main kitchen decks and back splash with the last remaining 3 slabs. We spent the necessary time designing and marking the slabs at his fabrication shop. I quickly notice after installation that the layout was not what was marked or discussed. Carlos incorrectly switched a couple of slab sections around. I don't know why I wasn't given an opportunity to review the new layout like the first time. Carlos stated on the last installation day, that we had no more slab left over to do the hallways 3' by 2' counter top. This didn't seem correct to me since I saw this hallway counter top layout on the kitchen island slab at his shop. I took pictures of all the slabs and there were a lot of unused material left over and we planned to put the extra pieces in the laundry room. To tell us there was NOTHING left was not the truth. When I came home later on the installation day, it was then when I noticed the incorrect layout of the slab pieces and the "head" installer stated there was another piece outside and maybe that was the correct piece. When we measured the piece outside, it was cut perfectly for the hallway counter top and matched the picture I took of it at his shop. I just kept that piece. These things I will have to live with but the one thing that would have been shameful and horrifying would be if my dog was killed because of their workers. Both installation days my project manager was at the home. Per his instructions, they unloaded in the driveway and took a couple of steps through the courtyard door to get to the kitchen area. This was the best and shortest way to access the project. Sometime during the day, one of their installers unlocked the kitchen backyard door and walked all the way to the farthest corner of the home's yard and unlocked the gate and left it wide open. When I got home we let both the dogs out in the back yard, since they had been locked upstairs all day, and my jack Russell escaped through the open gate and was free to roam the neighborhood and ran up to a dog several blocks away and bit him. Luckily the other dog was ok, but my dog could have easily been hit by a car. My dog "Minnie" is 14 years old, weights 13lb's and is deaf. There employee admitted to this horrify occurrence and when I e-mailed Megan what happened, she didn't even apology on behalf of the company. Employees have no right to access any other part of a person's residence without permission. There were other issues but overall, didn't like the games or blowing me off attitude and I was sick to my stomach to what might have happened to my dog of 14 years. I will bring my hallway counter top; laundry room and master bathroom slab remodel business elsewhere. read more

We used Stoneman for our remodel in our kitchen. They did a decent job on our granite countertops and seemed experienced at what they do. However, there were 3 cracks/pits on our slab that were not there originally. They tried to cover the cracks/pits with epoxy. After the kitchen project, we had enough granite leftover from our slabs so we asked Carlos if he could store our 2 remnants for our kids bathroom & laundry room. We told him that we were going to start that project next year. Carlos said it was no problem. Fast forward to the following year, when we contacted Carlos regarding our partial slabs (remnants), he began making excuses for why he may not have them any longer. He was almost intentionally prepping me for what he already knew was a reality-he no longer had the remnants he was supposed to store for us. Carlos said that they move a lot of slabs around & slabs get damaged in the process. That it could have been thrown away. I asked how they keep track of their customers remnants and he told me that he doesn't keep track of them. What a disaster! I would never have left my granite there if I knew how irresponsible they were about this. Because Carlos couldn't find our remnants, he said we could choose from the other remnants in the warehouse. He promised to have a foreman available to move remnants around so we could choose something else. When we got to the warehouse, there was no foreman & the slabs were piled on top of each other so we could only see the very tail end of some pieces. We settled for what we could see might be a good match for us. Unfortunately, Carlos also promised that the turnaround time to fabricate the counters would be 2-3 weeks. Well, it took them more than 4 weeks! To make matters worse, we were supposed to get our counters installed the next day, but they broke the stone during fabrication due to a "hidden crack". Carlos was supposed to drop off samples so we can pick a third choice for our counters. Carlos never showed up. He didn't even have the courtesy to call or text. Carlos has poor communication skills & I have a long thread of unanswered text messages to prove it. Summary: Minus 1 star: for damaging our slabs & trying to cover it up with epoxy Minus 1 star: for "losing our remnant" Minus 1 star: for poor customer service & communication Minus 1 star: for lying & saying we did not have remnants! read more

I highly recommend you do not use Stoneman for any fabrications or installations. We hired them to fabricate and install a Neolith countertop for an outside BBQ because they advertised that they were certified to install Neolith. We trusted that they were, however they installed the countertop incorrectly after we paid them a lot of money. The countertop cracked right down the middle a few months later. We investigated this crack and they insisted it was not their fault. I then analyzed the Neolith installation manual and compared it to the job they did and it was clear that they failed to properly inspect the surface before the installation - they just installed without due diligence. We had to acquire a new slab and ask that they re-install at no cost (or even highly discounted) and they refused. Neolith even came out and re-educated them on the proper way to install Neolith but they still refused to acknowledge that they did not do their due diligence by inspecting the installation site before installing. We were not going to pay them twice for a mistake they made, so we had to pay someone else to install it correctly. We were upset that we had to double pay for this installation when it was their fault it cracked. Buyer beware, even though they are certified for installations and they make a mistake, they will refuse to make it right for you. read more

Kitchen: We felt they gave us a competitive price for our very expensive quartzite slab installation. Setting up the initial planning was pretty easy though I detected a little attitude when dealing with Megan--as though she was doing me a favor rather than providing a paid service. They installed on-time. We had a back splash also installed and it was not cut properly. The understanding was they would leave it here in our home and once the cabinets were up, they would cut it to fit evenly, on-site. Getting them to actually do this was difficult and they tried to install it without the measurements being even. They also dented our vent hood and did not say anything or apologize about it. We initially spoke about having metal reinforcements under the stone but they did not do this. The plywood under sagged so that we could see it below the bar; this also meant the stone was not supported. They eventually returned to glue the wood and it worked so we no longer see it. We now have one install corner crack and one long fissure crack. They finally came to fix these after NUMEROUS no shows/no calls and I see and feel zero improvement. One person said of the corner crack they would apply an overnight glue and come back and sand it. This never happened. For the $16,000 we threw at these guys for slab and labor, we expected more. Also, our install was October 2015 and they only came to revisit Sept 2016. The stone is forgiving and it is pretty but it is not perfect to be sure. We also worry about the longevity of the stone lasting since they did not place in the metal reinforcements. (We also wonder if the fissure cracks happened because of this.) Overall, I am sure there are people who have had worse encounters with stone installers but if I could go back in time, I would choose another fabricator. Bathroom: They did a counter in the bathroom with no problems. It looks great and they came when they said they would. read more

Meghan and Carlos were amazing getting in a GIGANTIC slab into our kitchen for a full wall as well as kitchen island. They used the remaining to fabricate a top for a vanity and even made us cutting boards out of the piece that was the sink. They were super nice, responsive and gave great information on how to maintain the honed finish. In the trades it is very hard to find good people. I would recommend them with no reservations, and their pricing was great. read more

Terrible experience with this company. Carlos did beautiful work. The counters he installed are gorgeous, and he did a fantastic job with the stone. Megan, on the other hand, was rude and unaccommodating. Scheduling with her was extremely difficult, and she sometimes simply wouldn't show up. She failed to take proper measurements in our bathroom, and so made the first sink such that it didn't fit the faucet. She claims this was someone else's fault, she's sure. Of course. Again, the work is beautiful, but getting it done was like pulling teeth. BEWARE: I STRONGLY SUSPECT THAT MEGAN HAD US BUY MORE STONE THAN WE NEEDED SO THAT SHE COULD GIVE THE LEFTOVERS TO OTHERS. DO NOT BUY MORE STONE THAN YOU NEED. GET A SECOND OPINION. As for our cabinets, she had the size of our refrigerator wrong, so we had to re-order. Overall, a lack of attention to detail and lack of administrative skills significantly delayed our project. I would choose another vendor. read more

My mom, who is extremely picky, had Stonema do a huge one pice counter in her kitchen. It came out incredible. There was one small spot that needed fill and they came back in less than two hours after she called a out it. You'd never know where the spot was. I highly recommend Stoneman. read more

Megan was a savior with my Italian guests coming within the normal 2 week window they normally need once they receive the stone. She moved heaven and earth to get the job done in time. She was quick and concise in her quote. Carlos and his men were meticulous in their work and very attentive to every detail. They even took extremely good care with the leftover pieces and took the cutout piece for the stove and, at my request, made me a lovely little table for breakfasts! This team is honest and trustworthy and the entire company is very knowledgeable about their work. Even their new person, Jennifer, comes with a treasure-trove of knowledge, which she shared her backsplash adhesive and grout expertise, after the countertop was installed. If I ever have another countertop installed, I will be calling them again. They understand and care about their service and the product they deliver and install.
