John from Stone Improvement did an excellent job and I would highly recommend this business. I sent John some photos of staining and cracked grout in our master marble shower. He provided a fixed price in his prompt response. On the day of the appointment, he was on time, very professional and his work exceeded my expectations. We had another company come out to do this work in previous years and this is the first time the bathroom shower looked dramatically better. Some before and after photos below. Also loved that receipt was electronic and payment via credit card online was possible. Easy.

Provided I clean grout and tile as they recommended (no more Tilex), the renewal should last another 15-20 years.

They took their time to make sure everything was done right. The results speak for themselves. Our original kitchen floor was creaky, not level, and covered with fake wood, vinyl boards that weren't wearing well. When they pulled up the flooring, they found the subfloor was made with toxic exterior plywood boards laid over the old joists, so they had to rebuild the subfloor entirely from scratch. Alfonso gave us a choice of either laying cement boards over the existing floor (cheaper but would have raised the floor ¼" higher than the adjacent room's floor), or reinforcing the joists with stringers and lowering the subfloor, to make it level with the other room and strengthen the floor (a bit more but more polished looking). We appreciated having a choice that was budget conscious, but chose to go with the flush option. The added cost was reasonable for this unexpected work, and his team worked very hard to get it done quickly and efficiently, so they could still deliver on time. When we were indecisive about grout color, Alfonso made mockup samples of a few colors so we could see the end result more easily and was very patient and accommodating as we waffled our way through it, offering his expert opinion at every turn. The original estimate for the project was 4-6 days, and even with losing a few hours to an unexpected gas leak and the need to detour to rebuild the subfloor (literally improving our home from the inside out), they still finished on time and did a truly fantastic job. The work is exceptional, better than we could even have imagined or hoped. On top of all the obvious skill and pride in their work, Alfonso's team is among the most conscientious, hardworking crews we've ever worked with. Alfonso is friendly, warm, and communicative and made sure we knew what to expect at every stage of the project, frequently texting me with updates and talking with me onsite. His communication (and his assistant Maria!) was invaluable. We didn't move out during the work and were onsite every day so we saw up close how focused and professional they were. They made every effort to protect our other floors and to minimize dust and disruption. They cleaned up spotlessly at the end of every day (so you would hardly have known they were there). They arrived every day at 8 a.m. on the dot and worked steadily with just a lunch break through to 4:30/5. His crew was dedicated, respectful, kind, friendly, and hard working the whole time they were here. We knew we were in good hands. Of all the bids we got, Alfonso's was one of the more expensive, but it was also the most comprehensive -- including everything from removing and reinstalling appliances and baseboards, demolition and haul away, leveling the floor, laying the tile, waterproofing, sealing the grout, and cleaning up meticulously every day. Alfonso's work--given its exceptionally high quality--is absolutely worth it. Some of the other installers we talked to didn't include these end-to-end services in their costs, and it was worth every penny to have the project be handled by such professionals from start to finish. We hope someday we'll have another tiling project so we can work with Alfonso and his crew again! We really can't recommend Alfonso/GM Elite enough. Thank you, Alfonso, for our beautiful new floor!

I sent dimensions and a site image and was able to get a quote without a site visit. Our installer was very detail oriented and discovered our wall was not completely flush, which meant that the tile at the top of the wall would be a slightly different width than the one at the bottom. We discussed different strategies for approaching this problem. The zellige we received was also highly variable in quality and color. I asked our installer to pick out the tile in the best condition since we had ordered 10-20% extras and were very happy with the results.

My partner and I even made mock ups of the design we wanted to achieve. Noe was responsive over text when taking down our requirements, giving quotes, and estimating how much material we should purchase which we purchased on our own (though we might have over purchased our material by 20%, I'd much rather have extra than not enough!). Noe handled the tile and grout pick up when it was ready for installation day, and took care of the misc material purchases (finishing metal edge trim, tileset/cement, etc). Adrian and Luis are fantastic installers. Adrian's communication was really top notch (he kept us informed and updated often) and ran through options and recommended solutions when we encountered a bit of a snag with our subfloor and evened it out for us (we wanted to elongate and cut the corners of our rectangular entry way tile). Luis' tile work also really great. His cuts were clean, tiles were even/level, spacing of the grout lines were pretty even as well. I've had tile work done through a general contractor before (they had some rough cuts and some pretty bad tile lippage leading to uneven surfaces) - their quality is nothing compared to Luis' work, our entry way and fireplace with the herringbone pattern looks so good and it matched our mock ups very closely - they really brought our vision to reality! The three of them Noe, Adrian, and Luis really do live up to their company name as Tile Experts and they are very competitive with their pricing. You can check out the before and after photos (just ignore the ugly carpet in the pictures, we have not replaced it yet!) We are really happy and impressed with the work they did for us and would go back to them for any future tile work.

We met Dan after he did a job for my brothers apartment, who found him on Yelp. Dan was super responsive and reliable. He replied to all our emails and calls. He showed up on time as promised, and was super clean and attentive. He put down protective mats in the hallways and wiped up any spills. Dan came across as very honest and down to earth. Almost a rare quality this day and age. The quality of his work was amazing. All the grout lines were exact and evenly spaced. The tile was laid out true and square. He check his work as he proceeded, ensuring things stayed aligned. There were only two small items we felt that needed correcting and he did so immediately. We are so impressed with his work and can't recommend him enough. We have one job left and have already planned for him to do that as well. Please consider using Dan if you have any sized job.

They were also lazy . . . not covering a hardwood floor they were crossing in their work boots until we told them to. And we parked on the street so they could cut tiles in our garage, but they never even swept once--they left a thick carpet of white tile dust. Other subs I've worked with cleaned up each day. We sure were disappointed with their work after seeing all the 5 star reviews here.

Another contractor couldn't start until two weeks later. Alex made a site visit and was very personable. With the lead time, we chose Alex. Right when we chose him, he wanted to start that day! I said OK. That afternoon the demolition began. In two weeks he completed the job. He will work around your schedule. We had a family incident and needed to push back the work a day. We also had to wait a few days for the faucet to be delivered. The hours are up to you. We were OK with his team working into the late evening to get the job done because we were down a bathroom. Vitali and Alex work really really hard and long hours. There were some up sale items, but we picked which ones we wanted. Our vanity was in bad shape; so we updated the vanity, sink, backsplash and faucet. Alex quoted us a great price and offered to do tile flooring which would have made the bathroom even nicer, but we decided that the flooring would be fine. Maybe save that for the next remodel. Going through any type of remodel or home update is emotional and risky. We did a home remodel years back and that's when we learned you can really only choose two of the three: quality, cost, or speed. With Alex we were able to get close to all three. Obviously your home is very dear, and there are small little things that you can sweat over. Your home will never be perfect. Not a year goes by without some work that needs to be done to my home. Noe and Maria arrived on time and did a beautiful job on the shower regrout and Noe even accommodated some last minute requests to add caulking in the kitchen and quarter round. Unfortunately, we had different ideas about what grout 'touch-ups' meant for the floors - I wanted a few spots regrouted to match the rest of the flooring's grout color - but it really lacked a professional touch and didn't look good at all. I did invite Noe to come back to redo it, and it still did not meet the professional standard I paid for. I would have appreciated more thorough communication from the start to make sure I was getting what I needed. To be honest, this was not the cheapest quote I got but paid more because of the great reviews. I would be happy to change my review to 5 stars if the team wants to come back for a full regrout on the floors, but I'm not planning to pay any more than I already have. I'll attach some pictures of the beautiful shower and subpar floor grout job.
