My favorite espresso in Truckee is from Whole Treat Bakery. They use Pacific Crest Coffee. I came to the shop and ordered an espresso and some dark roast beans. The espresso was extremely acidic and sour. I couldn't really drink it. I think it's under-extracted and the temp isn't hot enough. The shot is too voluminous and runny. I brought the beans home and put them through my OXO Rapid Brewer. The shot was lovely.. dark and classic and sweet. So my take is: buy the beans, pull them elsewhere. read more

3.5 stars for a solid cafe. This is located right off the freeway, outside of Truckee, it looks a bit industrial, but a great thing because parking is really easy. It's a tiny coffee shop, so there isn't much seating - more of a grab and go. They offer nitro cold brew, which I thought was really cool, but they are canned and not fresh on tap I don't believe. Vanilla latte I had was pretty standard, but I appreciate that it came with two shots. read more

Not impressed. Stopped by for a quick bite and coffee to go. Unfortunately, my to-go cup came without a lid, which made it hard to manage while traveling. Ordered a cup of drip and cappuccino, and the cappuccino had a espresso that was blend of Costa Rican, Ethiopian, and Yemen. I could taste the fruitiness of the espresso, and it was bit acidic, but still tasted smooth. Tried both the Colombia and Kenya roast, and I found the Kenya to be my preference. The Colombia was a bit dark for my taste. There was still a bit of acidity in the Kenya, but it was quite good and light. The service was quick and friendly. The ambiance was chill with only a small amount of seating, so it's definitely made for takeout more. read more

Delicious coffee. Baristas who care. I've been stopping here for espresso for several years and it's time I left them a review. I used to be a coffee roaster and barista and visiting this cafe makes me miss working in the coffee industry so much. It's simple and comfortable. Not only is their coffee on point their bakery is also wonderful. (Oh yea I also used to be a baker.) The pastries and veggie burrito they make are awesome! The best coffee and the best beans I've ever had, period. They roast their own beans and the coffee master is from the Washington stare, so he knows a thing or two about good coffee. While I was enjoying my mocha, my husband was occupied trying to solve a few metal puzzles they had laying around. Everyone was happy. A small space but has a few seats by the window. Best coffee in Truckee. Pacific Crest makes the best Americano in town and roasts the best beans that can be bought for your daily coffee at home too. Their Sumatra beans are probably my favorite, but all are very good. The citrus notes in the Kenyan beans are also very good. If that first sip of coffee every morning has to be amazing, get a cup at Pacific Crest and get a bag of beans to go for the days you can't make it out to the coffee shop. read more

Loved this place! They had a creative menu with lots of coffee and tea latte options. I had the golden milk latte and my friend had the Mochagandha, and we both enjoyed our drinks very much. I been living in Truckee for 4 years now and I'm happy to say that I finally found my coffee spot. I'm a huge fan of the basic Vanilla Latte but this one is magical. I can't explain why it taste so amazing but the blend of their coffee beans and oat milk meshes extremely well. I have to give a shout-out to Beau, who constantly makes my coffee with love, as you can see from the photo. The entire staff is super friendly and always wish you nothing but good vibes. Nothing beats that on a sluggish morning. I can't say enough about this place but my experience has always been a 11/10. Check it out! You won't regret it. :) read more

Would not go here ever again. I try and support the other smaller coffee shops besides the giant but I will go there before here again. I wrote this on the square app so they could see it ....Vanilla latte was great but the small was practically a Dixie cup. Nitro cold brew was awful 3 people tried it. Customer service was non existent. The response I got from the store was I should tip better than 12% even if I get bad service. All I expect for customer service is a simple greeting or can I help you. I just got the person looking at me like are you going to order or what. This was there response...(I spoke with the girls that were working with me, and neither said that they recall seeing anyone giving the universal "I'd like to speak with someone look" that normally kicks our customer service team into gear. ) I am not a person that usually writes reviews or makes it public. That is why I responded on the square app because they asked for an opinion. I instead got a lecture on how to be a better customer, to tip better for terrible service, and wording like this ..If you insist on doing business with small service , I would suggest in the future--, all telling me how to be better consumer. My friend brought me here after a day of errands, we needed a pick me up and got there before they closed at 2:30. We met the roaster, nice guy. It's a beautiful space, and the coffee is delicious. Boy oh boy can these guys roast coffee beans. Incredible! This is none of that overly roasted super dark stuff. It has NUANCE, lemme tell you. I came in one weekend and had an excellent conversation with the barista. Nothing better than an early morning chat over a fresh cup of coffee. Truly! I try to buy a pound of beans every time I'm in town...my only gripe is that I can't always get there while they're open! Ah...tough. Making a cup of coffee is one of my favorite parts of the day- from bean to cup, it's a bit of a special ritual each morning. When we travel, we are always looking for local roasters, so we are feeling super lucky to have Pacific Crest so close to home! These beans are roasted with such loving care, and it shows in the results-simply delicious. The space is bright and airy, and showcases beautiful wood reclaimed and repurposed by the owner/roaster himself. I'm a huge fan of Coffeebar in general, so when I saw a location I had never known about or been to, I threw it straight into the map and headed over around 1 PM. It took me 2-3 laps around the block to realize this place was tucked in an alleyway. It's a true hidden gem. I almost gave up when I couldn't find it and the map directions didn't make much sense. This location is a small shop with only a little bit of seating indoors and a few tables outdoors. This is primarily the roasters location, so it's a great place to enjoy the freshest of coffee but also a great place to purchase beans. They had a very large selection of beans for purchase. They still offer a decent menu and a few snacks, though much smaller than the other location. My wife enjoyed a matcha and I enjoyed one of the exclusive roastery blends on drip. Both drinks were very good. The quality of the drip coffee was superior. I want to visit again and try a coffee flight. That's something I've always wanted to do. Overall, friendly staff, delicious coffee, and even though it's hard to find, this hidden gem is well worth the stop. Cheers!

Upon entering I was greeted by a young lady behind the counter. She was very helpful, and friendly, what a great start. After talking about a special drink, and with her recommendation I chose an iced blueberry mocha. Great drink, to complement I also chose raspberry beignets. Sat outside relaxing and enjoying the break. If you're a walker, there's plenty of seating in and outside, drivers there are a few spots on either side, and on the road around the corner. I look forward to trying another drink when I visit again.

The coffee gelato was a light coffee taste, absolutely fantastic but my least favorite of the bunch. Service was also very fast and kind, just wanted to make sure I pointed that out. They tend to play indie rock and older stuff like dinosaur jr which is exactly my vibe. It's like they made this coffee place for me. My usual go to is the white mocha at most places I go, and they do it the absolute best here. However their seasonal drinks are great too. As of late, I've been getting their Kurogoma latte, which is also fantastic. Absolutely try this place out if you haven't. 5/5 stars.

One of the coolest parts is being able to see them roast the coffee, it's very unique and almost feels like you're in a science lab.
