This place is 素晴らしいです (amazing!)…read more I have dined-in a few times after work, but mostly get takeout delivery. Let me say, even in delivery, the presentation of food/sushi is impeccable. There are so many different choices to try at Akiyama, I find myself looking at the menu for a good 10 mins. That is a good thing! I always am able to try something different and frankly, I am never ever disappointed. The lunch specials are the go to choice. You get soup, salad and your choice of either 12 rolls or 18. Goodness! I usually stick to the 12 and am able to pick at my lunch for the full day at work. (I am a picker.) For your lunch, you get all that food for under 10 bucks. Uh, YEAH! My favs include: - California Roll (classic) - Eel Avocado (I love eel and avo) - Spicy Chicken (this literally is the first Japanese restaurant I have been to to offer a sushi roll with chicken - also delicious) - Miso soup (hot upon arrival) - House salad (love the giner dressing) Co-workers are fans for the sashimi and the Japanese fried rise. Keeps them coming back for more! We order once a week at least from Akiyama. The delivery man is super friendly and we always have a great meal! This is a College Point restaurant must try!

They send you a text message reminder and you also have a15 minute grace period. Place is clean, just that the floor is a bit slippery. Since the place was packed there wasn't anywhere to put our bags so it did feel a bit crammed. Wished they got hooks at the bottom of the table. Food was goooooood. Ofc got a good variety of food from hot food to sushi and sweets. Hot food: -fried shu mai was nice and hot with a very thin wrapper so got that nice brittle crunch -sirloin was juicy -fried oyster was also really decent -eggplant tempura crunchy outside and nice and soft in the inside. Perfect texture since sometimes the eggplant is not soft enough imo Sushi: Their sashimi slices seem to got thinner but that's fine cuz we can order more. Yellowtail, salmon, and white tuna was supppper delish. White tuna will be my go to here now. The sushi rolls and nigiri were good too. Love the rice to fish ratio here since other ayce spams rice. Dessert: Jasmine milk pudding- this was more like Jasmine milk tea with pudding topping, but the tea was actually really floral. We all liked it. Every server was super nice and food came out not too late considering how packed they were. Again, really appreciate them being able to accommodate our change in reservation even though they were packed.

The sushi rolls actually tasted good and didn't have excessive rice like some other AYCE places to fill you up. I don't usually care much for noodles at sushi restaurants, but their udon was surprisingly very tasty. Service: 5/5 Most sushi restaurants have maybe 2 guys behind the sushi counter preparing sushi. Akino had like 6-7 guys back there. We ordered on the ipad and a few minutes later the food comes out. The service was really fast and the waiters were very friendly and helpful. Ambiance: 5/5 The ambiance is modern and energetic with a lively dining room that fits the fast-paced AYCE experience. The restaurant is clean, well-lit, and comfortable for both small groups and larger gatherings. It can get busy and loud during peak hours, but the upbeat atmosphere adds to the fun.

But this place completely knocked it out of the park. It far exceeded everything we anticipated. We were seated in a private booth, which made the experience feel even more authentic and intimate. Every dish that came out was absolutely delicious, thoughtfully prepared, and beautifully presented. They even provided a bell to press for service, and each time, the server appeared almost instantly with a warm smile. It's clear the owner and management truly know how to create and run a successful business--from the attention to detail to the seamless service and overall experience. For a moment, it truly felt like we had been transported back to Japan. An unforgettable dining experience.

For our food we ordered the hako sushi, tornado omelette fried rice, trio tuna sushi roll, yakitori platter (ordered chicken gizzard and gyu harami on the side) and the A5 Wagyu cooked on the stone grill. I recommend getting the yakitori platter as it's a nice sampler but my husband especially enjoyed the chicken gizzard. My dad never had wagyu before so he especially loved the wagyu but I do think it's expensive for the amount they give you, I can see why it's pricier but just know before you order it's like $45 for 2.5 oz or in our case about 5 thin slices of wagyu. My brother said the tornado omelette was tasty and filling and he enjoyed it. The trio tuna sushi roll was very fresh. As for the service, I think everyone was pleasant but the vibes were a little off, it seems like they were just very exhausted. This doesn't affect the quality of the food or the experience but it was just something I noticed. They were still very attentive and provided great service. The reason for the one star off is because I do wish the Hako sushi had a bit more flavor, I saw so many different ingredients and fish but none of the flavors were impactful, it was rather one dimensional which was disappointing because it was presented so beautifully. Overall, I recommend giving Izakaya nana a try and I would definitely go again to try other things.

The hot pot itself I think was average but the real standout for me was the appetizers. Seating in a booth tucked away in a corner on the first floor was a bit awkward to navigate. The sauce station downstairs was not well maintained and several items were out of stock, but that may have been because it was around 9PM. Second floor seating and sauce station are better. Food 4.5/5: Main complaint is that their menu is really confusing, despite this being my second visit. There are 4 pricing tiers. Everyone in a party has to choose the same one, so it can get pricey fast. Higher tiers include seafood and more premium wagyu cuts. You still get unlimited wagyu in the lowest tier but seafood is not included. I think this setup is fine because premium seafood items like lobster and crab tend to clutter the pot and are difficult to deshell while hot but also taste worse after cooled. Although the premium wagyu cuts do taste richer and "melt in your mouth," most of the fat is renders into the broth. Therefore, I don't think hot pot is the best way to enjoy wagyu, so the higher tiers didn't feel worth the price. The best part of the meal was definitely the appetizers and specialty dishes. The wagyu bone marrow was amazing and a must-try but only available to the second tier or up. Ambiance 3.5/5: I think being tucked away in a corner booth made the experience less enjoyable. The table was small for a party of 6, so we constantly had to rearrange dishes whenever new food arrived. It was inconvenient that everyone had to get up whenever I needed to refill my drink or sauce. Service 4/5: The first floor sauce station wasn't restocked throughout our stay so options were limited. Otherwise no real complaints regarding service to our table.

I arrived at 6pm and there were a few customers already dining, by the time it was 7pm, it was almost full. Was in a nice group who, like me, enjoys a place with great food. We started with soft shell crabs, edemame, chicken katsu, gyoza, and lots of drinks. Peter, our bartender, was awesome. As you will see in my photos, he can make some well adorned drinks and he is a nice guy as well. I pretty much stuck to a smooth Nigori Sake they stock. I chose the omakase dinner which was fabulous. The sushi is very fresh and it just keeps on coming. Meanwhile Felicia, our server, was constantly checking in to see if everything is going well. She had a easy going quality about her, and very calm and smooth in bringing our meals. This turned out to be quite a nice night. Wabi Nori is a great date place, or a place to bring a family. We tried Kaizen before and the quality/atmosphere is very similar so they probably have the same suppliers and maybe even same owners just rebranding. We ordered 2 mixed drinks from happy hour and they were fine but very sweet and not much alcohol. We also got the 6 handroll combo that came with spicy tuna, salmon, yellowtail, scallop, crab and lobster. I asked for less rice but the waitress said they don't put a lot of rice so I let it be. It was A LOT of rice. We also couldn't taste the difference between the rolls because all the fish was super chopped up and heavily seasoned so everything was mushy and tasted the same. Although service was good, we won't be back and can't recommend this spot :(

But it was okay because we found street parking a little bit of a walk away and was able to still enjoy ourselves. My fiancé and I grabbed a bunch of food from their big variety and both left stuffed. Overall, I can't say it's the best quality of foods however, the selection was huge and for the price, this was actually very good! The service was great. They started us off with drinks as soon as we sat down and would ask us if we needed refills on these drinks whenever they were running low. However, when we arrived, nobody was at the front counter, so we walked to the inside counter to ask to be seated. The front desk guy clearly just came in for his shift since he was hurrying on his cell phone, carrying bags and had his jacket on. He came over looking very busy and disheveled, and when my mom politely asked if we should wait here to be seated, he rudely responded, "Well if there's no one at that counter then you come to this counter if you see the sign." Meanwhile... there was no sign saying that when we left. My mom was just asking a simple question, so the attitude was unnecessary. Just because you're stressed or running late doesn't mean you take it out on customers. F him for being rude to my nice mom and never coming to this place again. As for the food, it was pretty mediocre overall, that experience left a bad taste. The sushi selection had a good variety, and the desserts were honestly the best part. They have a chocolate fondue station plus vanilla, matcha, and swirl soft serve ice cream machines. At least the place was clean. Also, the waitress gives you a parking discount before you leave, so don't forget to ask.
