Great vibe, clean bar top, and perfect drinks. They are open on Sunday at 6AM! Like what more could you really want from a bar adjacent to a smoke shop. Let alone, that was enough for me to venture into a adorable, dark, RAINBOW, hole in the wall. They are so close to the light rail you can hear the ding ding from the door. I have passed by this place for soooooo long growing up in Phoenix, and I can't believe I haven't been there sooner. The local patronage was so welcoming and the bar keep, Ryan... I hope I got his name right, he was probably the nicest person I've seen on 19th Ave, periodt. He was super quick to make sure everyone was taken care of and made the drinks with skill! Worth checking out if you are an ally to the LGBTQ crowd. You might just find a new spot or friends! My Bloody Mary was amazing and I'll be back.

When I first started, I had zero line dancing experience and was pretty nervous, but the free lessons are incredibly helpful. The instructors make everything feel approachable and fun. After just a few months, I'm now able to jump in and dance to many of the songs, which feels like such a win. What really makes Charlie's special, though, is the people. The veteran line dancers are welcoming, encouraging, and genuinely happy to help newcomers feel included. It never feels intimidating, just supportive and fun. I'm grateful that Charlie's has introduced me to an amazing new group of friends, and the venue itself couldn't be better for it. I also want to add that the drinks are reasonably priced and some nights theres also tacos.

What I did not expect was the $10 cover for ladies! I was also a little surprised that people were allowed in there with full leather face masks but I couldn't bring a purse. Keep in mind they will make you check it at a (pretty unsecure) area in the front. The space is huge with multiple rooms and bars to order from. The back is the dance floor. We came on a weekend where it was in the 100s in the valley. They have the current temperature of that room in big red letters and while we were there it was 107!! I could only last back there for 1 or 2 songs before I had to go to a cooler part of the bar for some water. My friends definitely had more fun than me, I just got too hot too quick.

It was the perfect place to kick off our gay bar bar-hop since it was much more low-key compared to the other spots. The music was so good, the bartender was nice, and the dancer was AMAZINGGGG. We were pretty much the only people there but she was giving us a full show. There was a DJ + a large space to dance, as well as a decent sized outdoor patio. I think it probably gets a little busier as the night goes on, but we still had a lot of fun!

Only the few people who came in as customers during karaoke were amazing and wonderful. The STAFF HERE IS JUDGMENTAL AS FUCK. I just lost a ton of weight over the last year and am very tall, I came in here super cute with my followers. I was trying to have fun while being RESPECTFUL TOWARDS THOSE AROUND ME. I did NOT receive the same treatment at all. They couldn't take ANY of my cards like chime debit or PayPal, also don't have any electronic type pay at all. FYI Kindness is free maybe don't BE the HATE WE ALL see in the world. WE ARE A RAINBOW COMMUNITY FOR A REASON. All I was trying to do was find a SAFE PLACE to chill and you FUCKED THAT UP WITH YOUR JUDGEMENT (and eye rolls). That's on you, especially when I tried to have conversations and treat you with love and kindness but all I got was NEGATIVITY. That doesn't EVER create a conducive environment for LGBTQ+ humans. So CHANGE. BECOME BETTER. Our community deserves it.

GOOD! inspired by taco bell's baja blast hahahah). they TREATED us to all three of their current desserts on the menu. it was the most pleasant surprise i could've imagined. my favorite was the flourless chocolate cake! it was like a thick, rich brownie, had passion fruit cream to "lighten it up" and a caramel-like taffy on the bottom my brother and sister-in-law both said their favorite was the gulab jamun (which is basically like little fried dough balls/donuts, influenced by indian flavors and spices). the mille-feuille was also fantastic - the pastry was light and airy, cream wasn't too sweet and also very light, shaved cheese on top made it have a savory bite, and the jam alongside it was strawberry rhubarb. service is always amazing, friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable; it seems like everybody working here truly enjoys it. quite literally already have a reservation booked at valentine and will be coming back here beforehand. update: came back for more drinks (fernet & coke, spaghett western, negroni) and their lamb flauta. all AMAZING! and amazing order to whet the appetite before dinner at valentine.

Regardless, we gave it another shot and we were much happier the next go around. Record players in the corner and a fireplace on the opposite side of this dimly lit bar created a cozy vibe on a chilly Saturday night. We arrived right at opening and the bar filled up quickly but the volume still made it easy to have a conversation and still have an intimate night out. The drinks, this time, well balanced and delicious. My wife had the the Pantera Rosa and I had the Last Word. Both were delicious and not overly sweet. I love a good "Last Word" but the tea added a welcome and subtle layer. A nicely created cocktail without shaming the original. Servers were attentive, constantly filling up water, and making sure we were well taken care of. We will be back!
