The new shining gem in Sumner! Be sure to make a reservation and try this place out. A few amazing dishes: the chicken appetizer, BLT appetizer, venison, fish and chips. Wonderful wine selection. Great service!!! Can't wait to go back a 3rd time!!! read more

Oxbow Urban Kitchen - The halibut is to DIE for. - Steakhouses Near Me - Sumner, Washington

Service was excellent, drinks were good. Food was verrrrry salty. I had the Beef Birria taco board and it was so salty I didn't eat much. My husband had the pork rib cap dish and he said his was salty too. Quite disappointed. :( Had the berry crisp for dessert, the berries were good, but the topping was anything but crisp. It's like they put a flour mixture (minus any butter) on top and then tried to burn the top of it with a torch in some spots. We brought a bottle of wine that we prefer to drink and thought the $20 corking fee was fair. Overall, not in any hurry to go back here. Spent a lot of money abd didn't feel it was worth it. read more

Food was plausible but not for a return visit. Prices were high and I was taken by surprise of a 4 percent added fee to the staff.

Amazing building, inside is nice and cozy. We sat on the deck above the Oxbow of the Puyallup River. I made reservations online, and when I got a text to confirm and in doing so indicated, this was for our anniversary. When we arrived, they congratulated us on our anniversary. I also requested to sit on the deck in the shade and had a fabulous table. We both ordered the wild king salmon special with mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. All was cooked to perfection! I had 2 of their specialty drinks, and both were amazing. We took home the browned butter peach cobbler to enjoy at home. Yes, amazing, also! I didn't take any pictures Highly recommend this restaurant for a special occasion. Price was on the higher side, but you get what you pay for, and we will be back soon. read more

Service was great. If you sit outside, watch out cause the many hornets like to dive bomb your food and head. There has to be a large nest underneath the outside deck. That was annoying. They need an exterminator or bee traps. Now onto the food.... It was pretty spendy, $200 for 2 people and that's with no cocktails/drinks. Got an Oscar ribeye. The Oscar part/seafood was good but the ribeye was not a great cut, but decent. Also ordered was a filet and that was decent as well. The steaks were not bad, but didn't seem like they were the best cuts. You never know though, could be the inventory, the butcher they use, or the way it was cooked, etc. The sides were lame fingerling potatoes (does anyone really like those things?) and dried out green beans. A regular loaded baked potato is what they should go with and maybe mixed vegetables? Just an idea. This Place isn't bad, just a little overpriced for what you get. read more

My excitement turned into a major downer at Oxbow Urban. We walked in hoping for a magical evening, but the folks at the front barely glanced our way. It was like we were invisible. Not only did the waistress forget to give me the Valentine's Day flower everyone else seemed to be getting, but she also couldn't get my drink order right, not once, but twice. It felt like the universe was playing a cruel joke on us. As if that wasn't enough, dessert arrived with two dirty spoons. It was like a symbol of the whole evening--messy and disappointing. In the end spending a total of $220 for this level of experience on a special occasion, I won't be recommending this restaurant to friends or family. read more

It feels like they want so hard to be something elevated but it comes across like a pick me girl. It's pretentious and overly done that it's like you leave hungry and unhappy because there is not a single thing that is on that menu that is comforting or enjoyable. It's like how many things can I do to this dish to make it seem cool but forgetting people are hungry. read more

The steaks lived up to what they advertised. The service was so-so. It's a hit and miss because it seems like they're short staff. The raw oysters were fresh and delicious. read more

Everyone in our table enjoyed their food, my carne asada was too raw & chewy for me, they did cook it more for me and it was good, is not in a Mexican style, so don't expect beens or rice, you'll get the meat and tortillas. My husband had the apple crisp.. not a repeat, mainly made with raw oatmeal. Drinks were good! $15 . Good service but it did take awhile, don't expect a bread basket while you wait either. Ambiance: unfortunately it was way too loud! We had to yell to hear each other as everyone else. If you like a romantic quiet place this is not for you. Perhaps if they can add sound barrier on the walls and ceiling that could improve! Overall it is pricey but good quality food. Also keep in mind they only open for dinner starts at 4:00. I would love to see if they open for lunch at least during summer time read more

Wow! What a great experience we had at Oxbow! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful and made our experience top notch. The building is gorgeous and the outside area will be so lovely in the warmer months. The food was INSANELY good! We started off with the oysters and they were sweet and buttery. We followed that up with the not wedge salad and it was incredibly tasty. Our dinner entrees were over the top delicious. My husband had the filet and I had the carne asada. My husband's filet was tender, wonderfully seasoned and perfectly cooked. My carne asada was flavorful and cooked perfectly to my medium rare liking. I loved the handmade tortillas and all of the fun sides to top my asada with. My favorite were the grilled green onions. Delicious and pretty! We ended our dinner with the lemon tart and it was the perfect ending to an absolutely fantastic dinner. Alex the chef made his way around to all of the tables checking on dinners and chatting with the patrons. Loved meeting him and I appreciate the customer service. We are so excited to have this restaurant in our neighborhood, and look forward to many more visits! read more

We have been here 5 times and EVERY experience has been exceptional. From the food, the cleanliness, the service, to the bartender and especially the helping hand of GM Chris, every detail has been top notch. We are local foodies and love dining out. The way Chris has set up this restaurant is superb. The staff is accommodating and friendly. The food has exceptional presentation and flavors. The overall experience is fantastic! Wonderful job Oxbow and GM Chris! We are lifers and will continue raving about you and bringing out friends to visit. Thank you! read more

Food was good, waiter was excellent. They added 4% service charge to the bill for using a credit card. Probably won't return because it was incredibly loud once the dining room was full. If you can sit outside it would be best. Don't go there if you need to tell your dining partner a secret! read more

I ate there with my family and we were pleasantly surprised by the waitress. I noticed she and her friend had amazing chemistry in the workplace...although it seems that the upper management is a toxic environment who does not treat their staff fairly. This goes all the way back to the kitchen as the food was bland and overpriced. I WILL not come back here until the upper management is replaced, or this is turned into a fast food place that is dependable. read more

Great food and great service. My wife likes the roasted chicken and I usually get the pork chop. I've had almost everything on the menu and haven't had a single bad dish. read more

We were seated promptly as our friends were waiting for us. The cocktails were very good but the service was very slow. I ordered the rib-eye steak - it was supposed to be medium but the steak came out almost well done and cold. My wife ordered clam chowder. It came out luke warm and the clams were "clamy". The only thing that was good was the Brussel sprouts with bacon. The environment was really nice and the staff was friendly. read more

I order the Salmon, what a disappointment! It was served raw! It was served over gluey mashed potatoes, along with very tasty vegetables! Not worth the price! Get rid of the nasty gluey mashed potatoes and stick with vegetables. Check the cook-on salmon!!! For the price, make sure your staff checks on water and drinks! read more

Had a great evening at Oxbow enjoying the delicious food and service. We went for a special event and our out of town guests really enjoyed the space read more

We visit regularly and love the menu rotation. The bartending is stellar with a great team that can make imaginative and creative cocktails. Travis, Abby and Preston keep the environment fun and delicious. It is a ten out of ten place to eat and enjoy. read more

Went there for a birthday. Food was very good and it was just on the ok side of pretentious to go back. Looking to go back when the patio is open. Dessert was good Too! read more

Food wasn't so great. Service was OK. Don't like looking at a dirty river. The staff was good friendly.

I will give this place 3 stars for great food, the view, and a nice waitress, Katya. However, the hostess here is unpleasant and NOT welcoming at all. You would think the owner would put someone in front who will greet customers in a friendly manner. Lastly, everything here is overpriced. They will even include a SERVICE CHARGE of 4% on your bill (just so you know) even before you give the tip. Btw, if you're dining in the evening, the view doesn't count. read more

Food is ok, i expected more for the price point. Serving steaks in a a bowl is an interesting choice. Makes using a steak-knife more fun! Bartender was my server he was friendly and helpful. Ambiance is meh for me. Pretty sterile, loud with talking and dropping dishes. After we ate we just wanted to get outta there. 22 oz bone in rib-eye (for sure choice cut) Chicken wing appetizer 1 cocktail $137 $160 with tip Ill be back to try something cheaper, this meal didn't really do it for me. read more

To be honest, not the best food out there. Wasn't really impressed. My Nashville Chicken looked like a sloppy mess with not much taste. Great service and area, but food definitely needs improvement read more

Went to Oxbow with my girlfriend for my birthday. We like the wine list and the ambiance so we've been there half a dozen times since they opened. I got the Steak Tips special because their steaks are usually pretty good. Not this time. I'm pretty sure I was served trimmings from other steaks. My meal arrived on a bed of mashed potatoes with what tasted like chicken gravy. The waitress didn't mention the $58 price when she sold it to us over drinks. Yes, not asking is definitely my mistake, but only three other menu items--all steaks--were more expensive, so she should have brought it up. There's also a 4% service fee that escapes mention until you see it on the check. With wine, service charge, and tip, dinner for two cost $228.00. For that kind of money we could have gone to the Cliff House, Katie Downs (twice), Crockett's (also probably twice), or a number of other places. Next time we probably will. read more

Great food, great service. Abby was our server and I forget the chef's name; everything was perfect. I don't like leaving reviews, but I read negative reviews and I don't believe these people. If you want good food and good ambiance this is the place. Thank you for a great time! read more

I love the location of Oxbow, and the building is nice and new. My husband and I came here for dinner, and the service was good; it was clean, and the ambiance was great. The letdown was the food could have been better. I tried the watermelon salad, which was mushy and seemed bad (this was in the summer, by the way). So, I ordered the chowder, which was good but runny. Since I did not eat the salad, I ordered their version of a BLT, which would have been okay if the meat had been cooked. I threw it away because the pork belly seemed semi-raw, as if it spoke to me. My husband ordered the steak and said it was good, but he was disappointed there were no gluten-free options. The prices are high, but I am okay paying for the experience. I hope they add some gluten-friendly things to their menu, especially as an appetizer. The drinks are probably the best thing I had here; hat off to the bartender. read more

Dined here on Friday 4/14 , super packed , no reservations ? Don't bother going , loved the menu , good vibes and very pretty inside , the only reason I give 4 stars and not 5 because drink service was super slow to a point I had to ask few times where's my drink , steak was over cooked , again I get it they were super busy and quality and service intend to suffer , will def go back again ! They need more space because it becomes super crowded with tables being so near each-other ! read more

Too many issues to list. Since I'll never go back, providing timely and objective feedback in hopes of improving performance isn't happening. I will say this as a warning. If you want to be disrespected by incompetent staff, this is the place for you. Culture starts at the top. This is a management and training failure. read more

The food was on point and the service was very good! The atmosphere (acoustics) were really hard in the room, hearing impaired people will find it very hard to want to come back. Sorry read more

Great new place, we really liked it! Bao BLT was FANTASTIC, my venison loin was extremely tender and the accompaniments were perfect. My sweetie's fish and chips were good. Hoping to go back tomorrow, but the website's a bit clunky right now... Side note- the tzatziki tartar sauce was incredible!! read more

Food was wonderful but food delivery was a bit slow we really liked the fish n chips. My caramel was good but a little heavy on the whipped cream. The Oxbow salad was very tasty read more

Food was delicious, service was outstanding! Whole family enjoyed it!! Will definitely return.

Great food, service and view!! I highly recommend this place. Their specialty drinks are delicious. I got the Kentucky penicillin. It was so good!!! It was my husband and I's anniversary, and they were so accommodating, and they brought champagne for us and a sparkling drinks for our kids. So sweet! read more

See all

went here this afternoon because our friends were out on the patio and we just wanted to pop in to say hi, the man at the front counter immediately asked if we had a reservation and i said no we didn't, we just wanted to say hi to a couple of friends. he rudely then said well do your friends have a reservation? to which i said they are already here so I'm not sure but they have ate already? he heavily sighed and rolled his eyes and told me i do not have room for you here but we can look for them. first time being here and after all of that i did not even want to dine at this place. your host is supposed to be the first person guests see and get their whole outlook on the place. i've been in the industry for 12 years and that was just poor. read more

Had some great food here the last few visits. Our latest visit was for brunch to celebrate our anniversary. The Mimosa Flight was great. Got special treatment from staff to make our anniversary date extra special. Portions are large and we always leave satisfied. read more

Our server, Charity, was great! Friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. Other than that, I would say that this place is overpriced for the quality. We ordered a filet mignon, Cesar salad and ribeye which equaled out to be $201. The char on the steak was the best part of the meat otherwise, there are plenty other places that can serve up a similar meal for that price with better quality. Also, the bees are swarming outside if you plan to sit on the deck. read more

Tried this place for the first time yesterday. The cocktails were amazing, the apps we ordered (Brussels/oysters) also great, we also enjoyed the dessert (a strawberry rhubarb crumble) The knock here was around the entrees my fiancé and I ordered. She ordered Tagliatelle and it lacked a ton of flavor, also it was odd that they didn't offer to add any Parmesan or even have salt/pepper readily available. I ordered the chefs special (steak tips, mashed potatoes, and asparagus). I also asked for a side of mushrooms and truffle crème (big mistakes on ordering the truffle crème) because the way they served the food it was on top of each other meaning the asparagus and mashed potatoes were underneath the steak, because of this once I added the truffle Crème my entire meal turned into this soupy mixture. The flavor was good so I ate it, but I don't understand why they're serving all the food on top of each other, it takes away from the individual flavors. This appears to be something they do as I saw a guy next to me who ordered a steak and had it serviced on top of a bad of fries (don't they realize the juices from the steak will turn the fries to mush?) Overall I would certainly come back for the drinks and apps. But I was not impressed with the main dishes. read more

I do not often post Yelps but the service was exceptional at Oxbow. We arrived for our 6:15 reservation to be greeted by name. We asked to sit outside and the hostess thought it was full but would check. We said we did not mind waiting but instead of waiting for a table to open up she grabbed her manager and they set up a whole new table outside for us. Who does that these days? They do! The drinks were great, the fish was light and flaky, the wagyu fajitas were tender and flavorful, and the dessert was delicious. Sitting outside you have a view of the river and Mount Rainier. Is it cheap? No. It is overpriced? No. I felt it was very price competitive for the service and everything exceeded our expectations. We have been waiting for a restaurant like this in the Sumner area. Thank you for a wonderful evening. My wife and I will be back! Cliff and Leslie Birdsall read more

food was ok, waitress forgot my salad and so did i. yuppie atmosphere, prices are outrageous! probably wont be back.

4 of us in our party and we all had GREAT food. We all had completely different dishes. We only had one dessert by recommendation and it was not very good presentation but tasted good. The service was outstanding. As a matter of fact she insisted that the dessert was comped. I would highly recommend you try this restaurant. Even if you just have a drink and watch the River go by you table. I can't wait to try the event room upstairs. The ambiance is very unique between the River and the bridge. I am impressed. read more
