Large fries, double cheeseburger, single cheeseburger, and fish sandwich
Frannie Y.

Ox burger is so great! Def one of the best smashburgers in the city if not the best smashburger. The patties get super crispy edges, and I love the caramelized onions. We also got the fish sandwich, which I really liked! The tartar sauce is great and the fish is super flaky and crispy. Fries were not my favorite but that's just a personal preference since I typically prefer fries with only salt as the seasoning, and they definitely put some other seasoning on it. Their dips are great though! The jaew bong mayo is so good I want to have a bottle of it for home. The best thing for me, though, is the chocolate chip cookie. It is my absolute favorite chocolate chip cookie I've had in Seattle. It's thick, soft, has a ton of chocolate, and is topped with sea salt. Not a crisp in sight which is exactly the type of cookie I want.

Service was awesome and fast! Ordered the Lao burger, cheese burger and chicken sandwich with a large fries. Everything was good. Sauces for the fries were good too but beware there is one that's really spicy!!

The Lao burger was very tasty with the vegetarian option. The fries are large enough to share, but don't count on a table as it's a very small area for seating and quite popular. The service was great!

I came here on a weekend for lunch, and it was well worth the walk from Capitol Hill! It had just opened so there weren't many other people inside. I got the Lao burger with fries and wow. The fries were so fresh and incredibly tasty, definitely the best fries I've had in a long time and my mouth is salivating as I write this review days later. The burger was also really good, and the portion size was huge. It's a more expensive burger, but I think you could absolutely share it with someone else (as I did) and you get your money's worth. Everyone was also really nice so service was casual and great.

I initially visited Taurus Ox with the priority to snag the popular burger. While impressed with the ambiance, I thought some of the other menu items were underwhelming compared to the burger. This spinoff shop selling burgers is not only more convenient location wise, but also tastier in my humble opinion. Burgers are so simple yet they're perfected here. Lao Burger - this has been and likely will always be the star of the show. The bun is soft and slightly sweet, like the Hawaiian rolls. Inside are two smashed, juicy, tender patties accompanied by a plethora of contrasting flavors that enhance one another. The fatty pork belly, sharp milky cheese, pickled vegetables, and creamy, spicy, yet sweet mayo blend make up for an explosion of flavors.

There is outside seating as well as inside. The inside seating is pretty minimal. The burger was super tasty and pretty unique flavors. They also offer a happy hour everyday which seems like a decent deal. You order at the front and the food is brought to your table.

This place does smash burgers right. We both tried the Lao burger and wow, the fusion works perfectly. The freshness from the cilantro and onions, the crispness of the patty edges and taro stem. The sauce. Everything had awesome flavor. The fries are bomb too. Probably the best smash burger I've tried in Seattle. The atmosphere is very cool as well. We sat outside and had a great time. Prices are reasonable enough for the area and what you get.

Best smash burger I've had in Seattle. It's actually smashed and crispy. Jaew bong cheeseburger was a great size for $6 during happy hour and the fries added on for $3.5 made it a complete filling meal for just $10. We also tried the Sweet Baby Clay burger for $7 during happy hour and I really liked the onion rings in it. Granted I wasn't a huge fan of the sharp taste of the jaew bong but it was otherwise good. Space is very small. My boyfriend joked we were in a garden shed. Service was fine but very minimal. I saw there was a Lao burger on the menu for $18 which seems quite pricy for a burger with no fries included. I'm glad they have cheaper items for happy hour.

What a gem to find this place! I love a good burger, and Ox Burger does a great job at making a standout fusion smash burger. Loved the crunch of the lotus root and also the pickled onions and the pork belly piece. Great flavors of sauces inside the burger and the fries were chunky. Thicker than Burger King fries but not wedges. Forgot to take a pic but the fries are shareable for 2 people! I recommend getting the Lao Burger and fries! Tried the chocolate chip cookie and it was like a thick cookie almost like a brownie consistency for those soft cookie lovers! Small space so it's hard to get seating for a group of 4+ if it's busy. Most people get to-go.

After a bad experience with the Lao Burger over at Taurus Ox (Ox Burger's originator), I kept wondering if I had misremembered Ox Burger on my previous visit. Perhaps the Lao Burger served there wasn't as juicy and succulent, with perfectly crisp smashed patties as I recalled? Or perhaps Taurus Ox just serves a completely inferior version. I revisited for a Friday late dinner to reach the bottom of things. This was at around 8PM and the place was surprisingly busy, with a fully running kitchen and almost all seats taken. It's a pretty small restaurant to begin with, but since the food comes fast, people don't typically stay too long. By the time our food arrived, a table had cleared up for us. Lao Burger ($18) - This Lao Burger is just as good as my first visit. Absolutely perfectly fried smash patties, completely with lacy, crispy edges that provide texture and an intense caramelized meaty flavor. I've already described the burger in detail in my previous review - what I can say on this visit is that the burger is basically identical, indicating that Ox Burger is consistent with cook and construction. The burger as a whole has the perfect moisture level with plenty of unique funky, umami-full flavors that make each bite a delight. As with my previous review, two things come to mind that detract just a tiny bit from my full enjoyment. Firstly, the burger as a whole is a bit salty for my tastes, necessitating several trips to refill my cup of water Secondly, the piece of sliced pork belly included is kind of vestigial. It seems to be only there to add additional salt, because neither the flavor nor texture are very apparent while eating. (5/5) Deluxe ($15) - This burger is somehow way messier than the Lao to eat. Upon lifting it up, a mess of watery mustard/mayo mix drips onto the plate. I think it might be from the extra moisture in the tomatoes and lettuce. And yet, somehow the bun isn't soggy at all. This burger is otherwise excellent, combing the same picture perfect smash patties as in the Lao, with the classic fixings - American cheese, bacon, pickles, and plenty of veggie mix. (5/5) I'm glad I gave the Lao Burger another chance. It's now one of my favorite burgers in the city. I'll definitely be coming back to Ox Burger for more. The progenitor, Taurus Ox, remains on my not recommended list though! Bathrooms - Single unisex room.

Ox burger is a small cozy restaurant decorated with live plants. I loved the atmosphere. You order at the counter and then they bring you your food, and you bus your own dishes. They have a killer happy hour menu, 50% off beer and $6 burgers. We didn't realize the great deal and we had ordered ten minutes before happy hour was to start. Sad, but we'll have to try it again next time. We all ordered the famous Lao burger, fries were an extra charge($7), as well as the sauce($2)The amount of fries were enough for two people, thankfully, because they were a little pricy. The burger was also pricy as well ($18). But everything was worth it. The burger was different, a good tasting different flavor burger. I enjoyed the jaew bong mayo, and the cilantro gave it such a unique flavor. I can't wait to try their other burgers .

I've been hearing good things about this restaurant, so I decided to try it myself. I had their Lao burger and it was okay. The biggest thing was the price for me. You'd expect if a burger is $18, it would be amazing. The buns were cold, the meat wasn't as hot as I wanted, and even though there was two smashed patties, I feel like the amount of meat wasn't not adequate. The fries were okay as well. It's definitely big enough to share between two people. However, the fries were too salty for me. The ambiance was okay. It's quite small so seating is limited. Not the best vibes there. Just a place to eat. The service was okay too. Nothing out of the ordinary. The food didn't take long to make.

Hand Cut Fries

NGL fam, this is probably a top 3 burger in Seattle. The brotha/sista restaurant of Taurus Ox (a fire Lao restaurant in Seattle), Ox Burger features the Lao Burger, which is also on the menu at Taurus Ox. The Lao burger is a double smash patty burger with unique flavors including: taro stem, cilantro, and their special sauce. It all just works so FN well. A literal party in your mouth. Certified broke da mouth. Parking lowkey sucks but... def worth the visit. Their hand cut fries are solid. The chocolate chip cookie is meh. But don't get it twisted... the Lao burger will be the star of your meal.

I was really excited to try this place for the first time but the burger patties were just too salty and took away from the flavor.

The restaurant itself leaves a lot to be desired, but I'm not asking too much. I believe the owner said he was trying to revamp the place. I hope that the area comes alive in the future years, that should help. Here's the issue though, this is the slowest spot ever. I've waited 30 minutes for fries - FRIES. I don't mind waiting for food, but it should remain reasonable. There were only two or three people working, and one man did tell us this, but I need to be honest - this was on Super Bowl Sunday. No one was able to get anyone a beer from the tap for 40 minutes, the food took forever and it appeared that online orders were being prioritized (which makes sense, you make as you get orders coming in, but that puts your in person customers in an odd and sometimes frustrating position). To be honest, I probably wouldn't have minded as much if I just had some fries to snack on. I didn't mind as much this one time because I was just happy to find a place to watch the Super Bowl Half Time show, but other days, it's a little hard to look past. I wish this business the best, I live too close to not hope for its improvement! Looking forward to updating my review. At the end of the day, if you're hungry, it's late, this is your spot.

There was no garlic at all, but what I did get was a pretty large appetizer that did its job and more. The main dish, the hotstone beef bibimbap, was a lot worse. Firstly, this came with ground beef rather than the beef slices I was expecting. The rice at the bottom was dry like it should be in a clay pot, but lacking really any of that slightly-burnt, hard qualities that makes a clay pot rice what it is. It just tasted dry. But the ground beef was probably the worst part. It was dry, lacking in really any seasoning, and the portion was tiny. I'd finished the beef with still half the bowl remaining. The oysters were the main draw for me, and they were totally worth the visit. Old Stove serves them with a savory watermelon sauce in addition to a traditional cocktail sauce--eaten together, it's a flavor explosion that I can't quite describe. We also enjoyed the garlic everything fries, which were delicious! We just had to try a flight to sample the brews. There are some really good beers available here, especially the Belgian blonde, citra pale ale, and the stout. I did not really care for the seasonal sour (grapefruit, I think)--to me, it just tasted like a sour and nothing more, but someone with more interest in sour beers would probably enjoy it just fine. Despite the busy night, our server checked on us regularly and was very personable, stopping to chat with us about the local sports scene. There's plenty to look at, inside and out. If you can snag a seat outside, you'll get to enjoy the waterfront. Inside, the decor is industrial but fun. Not sure if this runs all the time, but when we were there, the tvs were playing vintage beer ads, which was quite fun. They also sell some pretty good t-shirt designs. It's not my favorite Hawaiian by any stretch, but it definitely does the job for visitors to the food hall. Since the seating can be a little limited at lunch time, the first challenge is just simply finding a spot to sit. Avoiding the peak lunch hour is recommended, but this probably be better if traveling in a group. When in doubt, take it to-go. Teriyaki chicken ($14) is one of their most popular dishes and an obvious nod to Seattle's thriving scene. Their katsu loco moco ($16) is hearty with the gravy, but sometimes a bit too heavy with the green onions. Personally, I'm a fan of the kalua pork ($13.50) and the spam and eggs ($11.50), but the garlic shrimp ($18) was a bit lackluster. They also serve burgers, which are actually a bit underrated. Their double cheeseburger ($11) features nice size patties with a goop of American cheese. The musubi is nearly $4 each, but are also mini-bricks of spam and rice. Lastly, it doesn't take much to realize the prices might feel a bit high here. They're even higher on the website, which i would recommend using for most folks, but recently I noticed various selections are listed for hundreds of dollars each.
