Look at that burger skirt! So good!

I know nothing about burgers but my burger baddie girls say beyond a doubt that the smash burgers here are FANTASTIC and truly one of the best they've ever had at this price point. Something something burger skirt is perfection something something simple yet divinely done. I just think it tastes delicious. The sweet potato fries are also very good! Highly recommend!!

Yoooo finally some food that's affordable again. Chubby's has great smash burgers that hit the spot for a pre or post shopping/game day/explore bump. The smashed burger is super crispy and is exactly what I was looking for. Located in the Uwajimaya food court which is very busy and can be difficult to find a place to sit inside. We also came around 2pm on a Saturday and they were already out of a majority of their toppings (lettuce and tomato).

Stopped by for lunch to get takeout for the Mariners game. It's located inside the food court. You order on the kiosk screen, not with a staff. The ordering system was super easy to navigate. I also was excited to see the excellent cleanliness rating. I ordered a double smash burger and added bacon and grilled onions. Burger was super tasty. I would say it's one of the best in the city, especially for the price. Definitely coming back.

Pretty good smash burger! I spent all morning at the doctors and stop by uwajimaya for some grocery and got hungry. Forgot I had been fasting for 16hours so I grabbed a burger and some fries. ( I had every intention to get a Hawaiian plate) but chubbys was new and I was curious. The fires were so good! I think they're battered I basically inhaled the whole thing while driving home. Love the crunch on them. I got a single with jalapeño added. Burger had a nice crispy skirt. Really good lunch.

This was pretty good. Price deceit. I would definitely come back. Simple and you can add additional items (with extra charge) to customize your burger.

They just opened a new spot called Chubby's inside the Uwajimaya food court, so of course I had to check it out! Their menu is super simple just a few items, which I actually liked because it wasn't overwhelming. They don't do combo meals, and I think when I went they were still pretty new and getting into their groove. Service was okay, nothing bad, just felt like they were still figuring things out. Since it's Uwajimaya, it can get busy, but they do have a station where you place your order so it moves along. I got the mushroom smash burger with a side of fries. The burger was juicy, but honestly a little too greasy for me and I love burgers, so that says something lol. The fries were solid though! Overall, the food was okay. I'm pretty sure they were still in their soft-opening phase, so I'd definitely give them another try once they're fully settled in.

Great smashburger for a good price. You can find this place located inside Uwajimaya. There are tables to sit and eat or you can take your food to go. The menu is very simple with options of a single or double burger and a mushroom burger. You can also pay to get add-ons like onions and jalapeños. They do sell fries here as well. I would definitely come back here.

Stop number one on the most recent CID Small Business Food Walk: Chubby's Burgers, a new smashburger joint that opened in the Uwajimaya food court just a couple of weeks ago. With clean, White Castle-esque aesthetics, it looks almost like it was carved straight out of the LA smashburger scene and transplanted in Seattle. The menu is very simple, with a singular focus on smash burgers, a small menu of toppings, and fries. Simple enough that my first thought upon walking up to the counter: what they do, they must do very well. We visited before the lunch rush started so our order only took about 5 minutes to prepare: Cheeseburger + Fries Food Walk Special ($8) - The cheeseburger seems to be their standard single patty smash burger, normally $7.50. The patty is smashed completely flat, perhaps only a quarter inch at the thickest, granting maximal contact with the flat top. This allows development of crisp lacy edges as a skirt around the interior patty. It has good flavor, isn't salted too heavily, and while by itself is a bit dry on the interior, there's plenty more in the burger to make up for that deficiency. Firstly, underneath the patty is their Chubby's Sauce, what seems to be a sweet mayochup mixture, spread by the spoonful. On top, a slice of cheese, completely melted, gooey and fatty, adds even more creaminess and moisture. Embedded in the cheese, a couple of thick slices of crisp, freshly piquant pickles add a bite to the sandwich that really helps to cut through some of the fattiness. The ingredients are then enveloped in a soft bun, only lightly toasted with butter. As a whole, the burger is pillowy, yet greasy, with only some bites interspersed with bits of crisp texture. Biting rightside up, the sweetness of the Chubby's Sauce dominates, but biting upside down, the flavor of the butter in the bun comes out on top. I believe they give a half order of fries with the special. They are standard battered commercial fries, fried until crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. Not much else to say about them - pretty standard, nothing special. Seattle isn't exactly known for its smashburger scene (heck, probably half of the palces on most "best smashburger" lists in the city I wouldn't even consider smashburgers, but I digress). Chubby's brings a very solid classic smash. It's a great addition to the Uwajimaya food court!

I just didn't like the food. I got the double patty with lettuce, tomato, and grilled onions. The menu is very small which is fine if it done to perfection. But the burger is messy, overly greasy and too charred. It hurt my stomach. However, the staff is very welcoming, hardworking, and friendly. And I like the space, it stands out.

The restaurant itself leaves a lot to be desired, but I'm not asking too much. I believe the owner said he was trying to revamp the place. I hope that the area comes alive in the future years, that should help. Here's the issue though, this is the slowest spot ever. I've waited 30 minutes for fries - FRIES. I don't mind waiting for food, but it should remain reasonable. There were only two or three people working, and one man did tell us this, but I need to be honest - this was on Super Bowl Sunday. No one was able to get anyone a beer from the tap for 40 minutes, the food took forever and it appeared that online orders were being prioritized (which makes sense, you make as you get orders coming in, but that puts your in person customers in an odd and sometimes frustrating position). To be honest, I probably wouldn't have minded as much if I just had some fries to snack on. I didn't mind as much this one time because I was just happy to find a place to watch the Super Bowl Half Time show, but other days, it's a little hard to look past. I wish this business the best, I live too close to not hope for its improvement! Looking forward to updating my review. At the end of the day, if you're hungry, it's late, this is your spot.

The oysters were the main draw for me, and they were totally worth the visit. Old Stove serves them with a savory watermelon sauce in addition to a traditional cocktail sauce--eaten together, it's a flavor explosion that I can't quite describe. We also enjoyed the garlic everything fries, which were delicious! We just had to try a flight to sample the brews. There are some really good beers available here, especially the Belgian blonde, citra pale ale, and the stout. I did not really care for the seasonal sour (grapefruit, I think)--to me, it just tasted like a sour and nothing more, but someone with more interest in sour beers would probably enjoy it just fine. Despite the busy night, our server checked on us regularly and was very personable, stopping to chat with us about the local sports scene. There's plenty to look at, inside and out. If you can snag a seat outside, you'll get to enjoy the waterfront. Inside, the decor is industrial but fun. Not sure if this runs all the time, but when we were there, the tvs were playing vintage beer ads, which was quite fun. They also sell some pretty good t-shirt designs. Overall, Old Stove Brewing is the perfect combo of good location, good food, and good beer. Definitely recommend a visit when in the Pike Place area!

I didn't expect much out of these, but they were surprisingly good. The rice is cooked perfectly, sticky and tender, yet each grain is distinctive and almost bouncy, giving great mouthfeel. The musubi seems to be dipped in a small amount of soy sauce, although not enough to cover the entire rice surface. The additional sodium isn't really needed in the first place due to the salty and meaty kick the spam on top gives the handheld snack. It's a classic combination for a good reason! (4/5) For the Food Walk special, they only give a small scoop of mac salad. I'm sure the normal side portion for $5.94 is much larger. The salad is unspectacular but solid. It's a little sweet, a bit peppery, and certainly very creamy. There's a bit of julienned carrot included that isn't particularly crunchy, being soaked in the mayo sauce. The macaroni itself isn't mushy or overcooked, so it still has some texture. (4/5) I don't usually expect much out of food court restaurants, but Aloha Plates definitely surprised me with their quality. It seems like a solid option for Hawaiian.

Perhaps the Lao Burger served there wasn't as juicy and succulent, with perfectly crisp smashed patties as I recalled? Or perhaps Taurus Ox just serves a completely inferior version. I revisited for a Friday late dinner to reach the bottom of things. This was at around 8PM and the place was surprisingly busy, with a fully running kitchen and almost all seats taken. It's a pretty small restaurant to begin with, but since the food comes fast, people don't typically stay too long. By the time our food arrived, a table had cleared up for us. Lao Burger ($18) - This Lao Burger is just as good as my first visit. Absolutely perfectly fried smash patties, completely with lacy, crispy edges that provide texture and an intense caramelized meaty flavor. I've already described the burger in detail in my previous review - what I can say on this visit is that the burger is basically identical, indicating that Ox Burger is consistent with cook and construction. The burger as a whole has the perfect moisture level with plenty of unique funky, umami-full flavors that make each bite a delight. As with my previous review, two things come to mind that detract just a tiny bit from my full enjoyment. Firstly, the burger as a whole is a bit salty for my tastes, necessitating several trips to refill my cup of water Secondly, the piece of sliced pork belly included is kind of vestigial. It seems to be only there to add additional salt, because neither the flavor nor texture are very apparent while eating. (5/5) Deluxe ($15) - This burger is somehow way messier than the Lao to eat. Upon lifting it up, a mess of watery mustard/mayo mix drips onto the plate. I think it might be from the extra moisture in the tomatoes and lettuce. And yet, somehow the bun isn't soggy at all. This burger is otherwise excellent, combing the same picture perfect smash patties as in the Lao, with the classic fixings - American cheese, bacon, pickles, and plenty of veggie mix. (5/5) I'm glad I gave the Lao Burger another chance. It's now one of my favorite burgers in the city. I'll definitely be coming back to Ox Burger for more. The food was great for all adults involved. Portions of fries are generous and delicious, and come with fancy sauces (none of which appealed to me, but were appreciated by my family). The burgers are really inventive, so we all wanted to try the Lao. It's delicious.
