Big Max burger is a great local burger spot. They specialize in smash burgers. I went with some friends before a Mariners game. Although the ordering is done primarily through self serve kiosks, an employee made sure to greet us and told us to let them know if any help was needed. Once the food was ordered, it came out fast! I ordered the popular Big Mac burger and got their seasoned fries and a drink with it (free refills). It was a nice day and they opened up the restaurant to let the nice sunshine come through. I saw Big Max Burger on several "Best Seattle Burgers" rankings and had to check it out. Both my friend and I got the Big Max Burger (their signature burger) and a side of fries. The two patty burger also came with cheese, lettuce, pickles, and grilled onions, with their max sauce on the bun. The burger was good, but I wouldn't put it up there with the best I've had in Seattle. The fries are tossed in dill, these were very tasty by themselves and when dipped in the sauce. I went on a nice sunny day and we sat on the patio which I really liked. If it were a rainy day the inside dining area looked fine, but a little cramped. The staff were kind and the service was quick, overall this was a positive. Generally, this was a good not great spot and I wish I could give like a 3.5 star review. It's a big bear hug from something like a cross between a Dicks deluxe and a Dairy Queen burger only nicer than both. The burger came out fast so don't try to cross the street while you wait like I did or it will get cold. The Caesar salad is nothing special but I'm at least nominally trying to watch my calories/carbs so it's better in my mind than the fries. In long: This is one of those new mixed-residential buildings with businesses along the streets at ground level. Nice little patio, big signage. It's not overly large inside, and they didn't do anything over-the-top with the decor, but building it out must have cost a pretty penny. You can order on an ipad by the door, or from a human a few feet farther in at the counter. The staff here doesn't quite have a frat vibe, but it's younger dudes, probably from the neighborhood, so there's a definite preppy personality to the room. Friendly, well-caffeinated. The menu is kinda short--couple burgers, sandwiches, the fries, couple other things. They have wine slushies, boozy milkshakes, and other drink choices (including fountain sodas, naturally). We both had the Thomas burger, which is great. Kind of a flattop smashburger, it has those nice crispy edges. Toppings are built up with a good backyard cookout approach--nice slices of fresh veg, still crunchy and with plenty of flavor. Chewy soft bun. The fries, though! Crispy, light, greaseless shoestring fries, dusted over with herbed salt. They mentioned they can add a little extra garlic to the mix on request, which is probably the call. And a "large" here is about the size of a kid's lunch bag, not the little pocket that most servings come in. We ordered one large for two of us, went crazy devouring them, and still had more than half an order after left after we got full. So damn good, and such a generous portion. The wine slushy was fine, and I had fountain iced tea, which was perfect (and ought to be impossible to mess up). We were out the door for 2 burgers, one fry, 2 drinks, and tip for $60. The fried CHICKEN Sandwich is probably the best fried chicken sandwich I've had. It was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender and moist on the inside. It was flavorful and I just loved every single bite of it. Came back here another time for their burger and that was pretty solid too. Their shakes are good but I wish they had more variety in flavor. I like how they have the weekly special flavors but unfortunately, once the week is passed, you can't get those special flavors anymore. Their regular flavors are more plain. Was so impressed by the service here on my recent visit. The team makes a point to let you know about free refills and literally offers to refill for you when they walk by, even though it's not full service. I couldn't carry things because I had my baby in my stroller so they carried things over for me. I know these are small things, but I feel like when you go to a fast-ish food place the employees often aren't engaged or happy. This team was both and it just made for such s pleasant experience.
