Woo-hoo! What a hoot! Spent a weekend in Bend with friends, g/f suggested that we take a ride with Outriders. Although a bit cautious, it sounded like fun and we signed up. Interestingly, our friends had tried to sign up the next morning but were told that "they'd see what they could do" because apparently Outriders only runs a limited number of 4x4's per trip. But, we found out later that day that they'd added one vehicle to the run and we were all good to go. Launch point was about a 15 minute drive from our friends in S. Bend. Just a turnoff on a forest trail off of the road, we spotted our guide and vehicles and got situated. Helmets were fitted, and we were given a clean set of instructions from Jason, our guide. And off we went. We'd signed up for the two-hour run and honestly, about 15 minutes in, I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy it. It was a bit of a ride, even given the soft suspension of the 4x4's. However, it's hard to deny the beauty of the surroundings and the smiles on our faces. We got up to the top of a bluff whose same I don't recall - Sugar Bluff, maybe? - and stopped for a bit. Jason gave us a status check and a bit of history and geography info. He's very informative, and easy to talk to, very willing to answer questions. From there we headed through the forest to our next stop, some lava fields. Again, a bit of history, very informational about the age of the rocks, and some interesting facts about plant growth in relating to the lava rocks age. All in all, this was a heck of a ride. Up and down, bouncing all around, noisy, only a bit of dust (we were lucky that day so be forewarned if you do this during a dry spell). There are other options available, we're seriously considering one of them for our next trip to Bend. Don't forget to tip your guide! read more

Geared up Saturday morning with the fams and drove to exit 153 from Bend and were part of a 3 ATV group. 5 Minutes orientation meeting / safety and off you go... What a blast.... AWESOME experience. This was the first time our family has done an ATV tour and we all loved it! It was a great way to be able to see parts of the area we would not have otherwise been able to see. So we booked a trip, last minute, originally the Lava Run. The night before, we got a call from Mike, wanting to know if we minded a free upgrade, to the Mountain Vista tour. Hmm I thought, sure. It was an hour longer than our original tour. We me our guide, Alex, in front of the Sun River Lodge, and off we went, to the trail head. Alex was friendly, talkative and very knowledgeable about the area. He got us all geared up and off we went. Beautiful day for the tour. When we got to the ridge view point, however, forest fire smoke limited our view. Nothing Alex could do about that. Next he guided use to a small campground along small creek. We walked s short way, to the falls, for a beautiful view. It was sunny, warm, and very dusty. I haven't gotten so dirty, in a long while. It was a great day. I highly recommend Outrider Northwest for a great off road tour. read more

This is our second time coming out and had a great time. I've never been so dirty before, so prepare yourself for this! Haha. When driving I felt like I was in The Fast and the Furious, such a rush. We packed a lunch and enjoyed it during our scenic walk to see the water fall. This should be on everyone's Must Do list. read more

Went out today on a guided tour over the lava and through the woods to a waterfall and a vista where we could see Mt Adams in WA. The quad Polaris appeared brand new, was spotless clean and ran like a beast. Guide Dan knew the answers to every question. You traverse about 50 miles of stunning Oregon wilderness, passing through a variety of terrains. The views of the lake are stunning once you arrive. My wife drove the whole time as I'm recovering from Achilles surgery and I still had a blast sitting in the back seat or the Polaris Razor. Quartz mountain tour with Alex who was an excellent and very personable guide. Equipment was clean and in great condition. Terrain was varied with some woodsy trails to open desert. I recommend following your guides suggestion of staying well behind as it can be dusty if you follow too closely. EXCELLENT RIDE, AWSOME EXPERIENCE! My wife and I took the Lava tour to see the lava fields and to get our first experience riding Polaris RZR. We were in one RZR while our guides, Peyton and the owner, we in their RZR. The trip started with safety. Proper fitting helmets, gloves, then a check list of how the RZR works. Then we took off, with the guides in front zipping ahead to the next fork in the road, so we could go as fast or slow as we wanted, seeing the surrounding, experiencing the RZR, but never feeling left alone in the woods. Our Polaris Rzr trip today was perfect! Not too much guiding, not too little. We had somewhat experienced drivers in our group, so we thought we might get bored. NOPE! Our guide Mike was great!!!!!
