I sent the following email to Brasda Ranch regarding my experience. I received NO response. Very disappointed in their lack of good customer service - especially since I had to pay the "gratuity" ($90) when I schedule our trail ride. Wed, Jul 23, 1:58PM "I'm reaching out to let you know what a disappointment my ride was on Sunday. I was partnered with Medicine Bow for the ride. I'm an experienced rider and own two horses myself. I didn't find out until after the ride that he is only four years old - which may explain his green behavior. I really don't find it enjoyable to constantly be pulling on a horse's mouth while they are trying to go their own way or getting too close to other horses. He's already got a hard mouth and I'm sure it's going to get worse. Putting experienced riders on this horse for an hour at a time is a poor excuse for proper training. I sincerely hope you do the right thing for this young horse before he's ruined. read more

We decided on Brasada Trails for our horseback riding this trip. We stayed in Bend and enjoyed the lovely drive out to to Pilot Butte. Our trail master Piper and her amazing guide horse Pepper took us on a beautiful ride up to a lookout where we enjoyed the best cinnamon marshmallow s'mores and a little break. On our way back we got the same wonderful views, and we had an overall amazing time. Super relaxing, the horses were great, and Piper made the experience super fun. Strangely user unfriendly. Hard to find golf pro shop, and once there told of the course's semi private status. In short, we couldn't play. Or even hope to play, without our club's pro first contacting this shop to arrange a tee time. Drats! Note to self: Get a club! Get a pro! read more

We brought our 10 year granddaughter on a weekend trip to Redmond/Bend area. I wanted to have a fun and memorable experience. She loves horses so I knew this excursion would be a 10/10 in her eyes. I found this ranch on the Visit Bend website. I loved that they had a text message option for communication. I texted them at 6:00 am on a Friday morning to check out availability either Friday or Saturday. They were very responsive. We got scheduled for a Saturday 9:00 ride. Of course, we woke up to snow, so I wasn't sure if they'd cancel our ride. I texted them and again, very responsive, and the ride was a GO! Thank goodness otherwise I would've have a very disappointed granddaughter. We dress very warm and headed out first thing. The drive from Redmond is about 25-30 minutes depending on traffic. They provided the gate code and very good directions to the barn. Annika and Erin were our wranglers for the ride. They provided us helmets, waiver documents to complete and then they got the horses ready and got us each saddled up on each of our horses. Mine was R3. He was a four year old who was a bit of a stinker when not on the trail. But on the trails, he did awesome. My granddaughter who is 10 ride Dallas, 16 and he was very good for her and my husband was on Red, 20 and he was great for him. My husband and I are novice riders and I think we did great on the ride. There was another couple who rode on the ride and it seemed their horses were cooperative as well. The one thing if I had to critique is that we were not guests staying at their ranch so we had to drive to guest services and pay after the ride. The weather was extremely cold and snowy and the horses handled it like champs. A bucket list item crossed off. read more

Just did a Treats and Trail ride with a group of 2 adults and 3 children aged 5, 6 and 8. Our guide was Chris and from the moment we stepped foot out of our car he was super friendly and attentive. He was able to give everybody a horse that match their riding ability and gave a great quick lesson to both adults and children. He was also very calming with the horses and was able to help 2 of the children, who were more nervous, gain confidence on their horses. Chris was very Knowledgeable both about the horses, who are very well taken care of, and the area and the resort. He was very interesting to listen to during our ride and could answer all our questions. Though it was a trail ride the horses had to go through different terrains so that was cool to experience. The campfire, hot chocolate and s'mores break was super fun for both the kiddos and adults. The graham crackers and marshmallows were home made and delicious. Chris also had a wonderful dog name Art that followed us along our ride. Chris made sure immediately that our children were OK with dogs when we got there. Once we told him that they were the dog followed us everywhere. We all loved him! Would definitely do another type of ride with Chris and Brasada trails if we come back! read more

Great ride with Emily, a very friendly and knowledgeable young woman. Our party was two 7 year old girls and two adult women who had not been on a horse since childhood. Horses were mellow, and kids even got to trot a teeny bit. Views were excellent. We went early (7:30am), which was perfect for July since it's currently quite hot in the afternoons. Brasada Trails Horseback rides were unbelievable! Chris and his staff were professional and it was a lot of fun. I went on a private ride with my daughter and then sent the wives and kids out for a group ride later in the week. Best trail ride I've ever been on. I've been on a bunch of trail rides all over the west. Beautiful views, calm horses, experienced wranglers. I am a big guy....6,4" 375lbs. I let them know in advance and they brought out a draft horse for me named Stella. She was sweet as pie and carried me no problem. Brasada trails is a must do attraction when you're visiting Powell Butte. Thanks for the great time Chris!! read more

Its a nice facility for Western riders but I felt the real estate people at Brasada Ranch misrepresented it. It has almost no affiliation with the Brasada Ranch community and is almost exclusively oriented to Western riding events. Good thing I stopped in and spoke with the people at the barn before getting too interested in buying a home there. read more

My daughter- who turned 9 on this day (March 4th) has a passion, touch, and personal exuberance with horses..Harrison was a light for us.. he was understanding with my 9 year old lady while she rode DingleBerry- Harrison was cool, calm, and just nice while DingleBerry walked into the bushes with my daughter. The day before my wedding I went on a relaxing trail ride with my parents led by guide Chris Buller. He was very professional and tons of fun! He shared with us information about the area, the horses and gave me words of wisdom for my upcoming nuptials at Brasada Ranch. Chris is also a pastor and has performed weddings at Brasada and if I were still in the market for an officiant I would have chosen him in a heartbeat. The horses were beautiful, well cared for, and very well behaved. He had the horses saddled up and ready to go when we arrived and since we've all been on horses before (with a wide range of ability) he made sure we were comfortable and then headed out. No need for lengthy lessons that would cut into our trailride time. I would recommend planning a trail ride to anyone in the area or staying at Brasada Ranch. I would certainly suggest seeding if Chris is available as he was a wonderful guide! The horses, the view, and his conversation was just what I needed to calm by pre-wedding nerves. read more

We were staying at Brasada Ranch for our son's State Baseball Tourney, so I wanted to plan something special for our daughter. She had never ridden a horse unassisted, and as soon as we arrived, the ranch hands made her feel comfortable. During the ride, our guide, Paul, chatted with our daughter, answering questions, and giving her tips that helped make her feel at ease on the horse. My experience was amazing as well. First time I've been on a horse...ever. Total city slicker. Our guide, can't remember his name, young guy, led us into back country above the ranch, off trail too, he was chill relax and very respectful and nice. Horses were well broke (I guess:-P). Horses spooked at some guy shooting, that was a little scary. Great views, great ride, overall very fun and worth it, little pricey maybe but oh well. If I had one complaint it would that I would've liked a liked little more instruction but nothing like learning as you go and managed to figure it out, even stayed on when the horse spooked at the guy shoots nearby.
