Had a great trail ride last weekend with Kevin! Wanted to plan something fun and different for my husband's birthday while we were staying Bend and Therese worked with me to get us in at the time I needed as we were only in town for a couple of days. Kevin took us out on a trail ride and it was amazing. He showed us the ropes as we were both novices and made sure we were always comfortable. They can't be bothered to return phone calls or emails. I get it if you're busy, but this is no way to run a business. Don't waste your time with this place. read more

Just a well run ranch Kevin and Therese are caring, patient and wonderful owners and operators. Stock is large and horses well trained and bomb proof solid trail horses. No complaints about the horses, instruction, or ranch per se, but two stars get knocked off: 1) Our two-hour ride consisted of a single-file trek across dusty and ho-hum terrain. Did I mention dusty?? Holy Moses, I was ready for it to be over about halfway through. If you still want to go, bring a bandana and don't be near the back of the pack. I'm serious. 2) Only upon completion was our group was informed that we each owed $110. But, but, but, their web page says it's $95. Oh yeah, they raised the rates months ago but so far have neglected to update their site. And yes, the charge is still $110. Isn't there a word for that? read more

Therese and Kevin are just wonderful. Transplants from the East Coast, they opted for a different lifestyle and it's obvious they love what they do. Their first priority is the safety and care of their horses and riders and it shows in the careful instruction we received. As complete novices, we practiced around their training ring for a bit before heading on down the trail. The horses they picked for us were perfect. If we're ever up here again, I definitely plan on going again. read more

This beautiful property is super close to Bend, but up on an overlook so you can't even tell you're not in the boonies. Our family of five felt immediately welcome and at ease with Kevin and Therese, who are both lovely and down-to-earth. Their horses are clearly well cared-for, and are probably the gentlest, most well-behaved horses I've ever met. (THIS would definitely be the place for a small child to learn to ride!) We were introduced to our horses and taught how to steer them and communicate kindly but firmly, and then we practiced in an indoor corral before heading out to the trail. Kevin knows each animal well, and clearly has a knack for matching them with riders so the HORSE is also happy and comfortable. We had a beautiful ride, and even got some trotting in! We brushed the horses afterwards and fed them carrots, and Therese even made us a picnic. What a great example of a passionate, well-run small business! HIGHLY recommend these folks when you're in the area, whether you're a novice or an experienced rider! read more

We had an AMAZING experience at the Flyspur ranch this past weekend for our group that included children. Most of us were beginners. It was apparent that safety was a priority. They were very kind with my daughter who was afraid to get on the horse. They were so patient with her. She got on the horse and had a GREAT time, smiles from ear to ear. Kevin was very informative and it was clear that he loves his horses. The rest of the staff was also very helpful and kind with our children. The horses and staff were matched up well the riders. I lovr the people and trails here. The horse i got cody, was a bit of a brat but our guide got him in check most of the time. This place is great for all ages an all kinds of riders. I loved the veiws. I only wish we could stop for pictures. I highly recommend this place for riding! read more

Our group of four (one capable rider, three novices) had a wonderful morning trail ride followed by picnic lunch (we brought) at the table under the shade trees in the yard. It was a new experience for several of us and Therese and Kevin were knowledgeable and friendly. I think they're super busy, but if you can schedule a ride here it is a great way to experience the area's scrubby terrain and wide open scenery. read more

My husband and I had a wonderful time here. Neither of us had much experience riding and Kevin put us right at ease. We went on a beautiful ride and Kevin shared a lot of information about local events and points of interest. The whole thing felt very personal as it was just us the three of us and we had a little more freedom than other trail rides I've been on. We brought our daughter to Flyspur Ranch this September. The folks here at Flyspur went above and beyond making my daughter's experience here a very special event. They spent so much time with our daughter and really made her first horseback riding experience something she would never forget. We were blown away by the level of care they offered to our daughter. My husband and I were also impressed with how much the owners of Flyspur genuinely cared for their horses. It was absolutely clear these horses were loved and greatly cared for every day. What a laid-back stay we had here! The hosts were so gracious about everything. We stayed in the Airstream and the Tipi. No one was in the cabin at the time, so it was like having our own private campground. The kids fed horses many times a day. Kevin took us out on a group ride even though it was supposed his one day off of the week. Therese brought us s'more fixings by the fire. Don't go expecting a 5-star dude ranch experience. This is a working family horse farm. Still, the owners couldn't have been more accommodating, and we had a wonderful two-night stay. I highly recommend it to horse lovers and those looking for a little variety in their summer camping experiences. read more

We had an amazing time at the FlySpur Ranch over 4th of July weekend. Therese and Kevin personalized a lesson and trail ride for me and my girlfriend. We are of varying levels but they were able to get us up and going in no time. The horses were well-spirited and happy. All-around this was a top of the line trail ride and it was a wonderful way to explore parts of Bend. Great place, we were visiting Sunriver and wanted a horse trip instead of using the Sunriver ranch. Decided to do a lesson for our 8yr old girl as well. They were so fantastic and she learned so much. Great ranch, fantastic people, and great horses. We will come back every time we come to Sunriver from now on. We call in the "Fly Sour Ranch". After enrolling our daughter in lessons we found a different instructor each time we came for a lesson. Finally after meeting the owner (who hides away) we realized a (the?) concern a nice buzz going at 10-am. I am so glad I found Fly Spur Ranch! I grew up riding horses, and while it is one of my favorite things to do on vacation I often find myself disappointed, either at the lack of care for the horses, or the nose to tail string of riders I find myself plopped in. So this time I was pleasantly surprised with everything that Fly Spur had to offer. Therese waited until I got there to talk over my riding ability and ask what kind of ride I wanted to go on that day before she got a horse ready for me. After a few minutes of determining what would be a good match we chose Rebel for my four hour scenic tour, and couldn't have been happier. I adored him! It was obvious she knows her horses, and wants both the horse and the rider to be happy, and it really shows. She has really gone through a lot of work with constantly improving Fly Spur and the rides she offers, and with absolutely beautiful scenery (we rode through so many different kinds of terrain, it was stunning!), a gentleman of a horse, and a knowledgeable and welcoming guide I don't know what more one could have asked for. I just wish that I lived close enough so I could take advantage of their Equishare program! Brilliant! read more

These guys are amazing. We had the nicest wrangler in the world, and everyone was just super friendly, helpful, and accommodating. I had been looking for a place to ride in Bend that didn't cost an arm and a leg just to go on a nose-to-tail group trail ride, and this is it! Good prices and the rides are really customized based on what you, the rider, wants to do! I can't say enough good things about the Equishare program, and especially about our wrangler, Mike. We totally enjoyed our week's time at Flyspur. There is a horse for every taste and level of experience. My husband and I had a great time riding different breeds of horses and enjoying the trails adjacent to the main ranch.
