Not knowing much about fly fishing, I called the shop at least 3 times before booking to ask questions which were always patiently answered. The booking process was smooth and Tye (owner) called me back to confirm and make sure everything was clear about the meeting place, fishing licenses, gear, etc. Our guide also called and texted the day before to see if we had any questions and to reconfirm the meeting place. We had 3 children (10, 10 & 8) in our group and our guide Dylan was amazing. He was super patient with the kids and got them very interested in fishing. I was expecting them to stop after an hour but the kids loved it so much, they fished for the entire 4 hours. I would definitely book another fishing day with them the next time we're up in Central Oregon.

We went a day early to the shop (the shop is beautiful) to get outfitted and the next morning when we met Braden at the shop we were ready to go. We followed him for about 45 minutes to the Crooked River and he had all the gear set up for us. We changed into our waders, grabbed the poles and headed down to the river. Wish fishing was always this easy! Braden was a great teacher. He explained the river and its contours, the fish and what they eat and how to effectively cast. Even my girls got it pretty quickly with his help. We only took one break for lunch and Braden had some great sandwiches and snacks for us but I really wanted to get back on the river. He saw that and let me know that I could take my time and that we would get a full day on the water no matter how long we took for lunch. I got 3 trout and a couple of white fish, my wife got 2 trout and my girls got 1. I could have stayed out there forever but the temp was dropping and the family went into the car so I reluctantly left before getting yelled at. Definitely a first class operation fun by people who really know their stuff. Hopefully next time I can do a Deschutes drift fishing trip next time!

The day we set out on our hike to Benham Falls, we started out by parking off the East trailhead…read more We then hiked the short distance (about 1/2 mile) to the Falls. Benham Falls actually look a lot more like large whitewater rapids than waterfalls; you'll encounter some spectacular views as you approach them :-) On the day we did this hike, we started out just before lunch. The trail was hot and dusty, but we still had a delightful hike. Tip: The hiking difficulty here is easy; beginning hikers and above won't have any trouble even when it's hot. The trail is fairly broad, so there's no problem with hikers and bicycles using it at the same time. Note that the West trailhead is so close to the falls that if you start out from there you'll basically be skilling the hike and just taking in the views and the Falls.
