The 2 hour snowmobile tour was fantastic. Our guide Zack was friendly and informative about the area. Machines were practically brand new. It was just my college age son and me on the tour so we got to rip around at high speed through different terrain with only a few stops for sightseeing. Highly recommend Octane.

My husband and I wanted to make our honeymoon memorable and so snow mobiling seemed like a good idea. Going into it we had low expectations, but wow were we surprised. Dan took us around and we had THE best time. We cannot recommend going enough. The views were incredible and all the info Matt shared about the area. Also happy to support a locally owned company. If you're in the area, please do yourself a favor and stop here!

    Fun in our atv!!!

Overall experience - octane provides excellent communication with its customers. That helped our family out since we got lost. Matt and team have an amazing system down and make you feel completely safe. I would totally do it again. Safety - the company provides you multiple ways to communicate if an emergency happens. They provide a gps emergency transmitter. Wow that's huge. They provide top quality gear. Grab the goggles if you are traveling in multiple groups. Way too dusty to go without them. ATV - great quality machines with gps iPads. Navigating to the different way points was super easy to follow. The iPad allows you to navigate the trails without getting lost. Amazing idea and makes it easy to follow and find the different spots. Overall super fun experience and great time. The roads are really bumpy and super dusty so plan on getting really dusty. Bring some water to wash your face. Wish there was some mud, rivers to get wet or change up the scenery. One improvement would be to put huge signs where you are supposed to stop and walk too. Our team had to get out and walk to try to find the caves. Was hard to find a couple spots. Thank you Matt for all your help and amazing trip!!!!

Really fun experience. We have our own Polaris but didn't bring it on our vacation. When we saw Octane we decided to rent one for the day. We did the unguided tour, but got great info on where to go. Absolutely had a great time

Fantastic half day experience in Bend! Everything is top-notch from making the on-line reservations, check in and instruction. The 4-person Polaris ATV's are easy to operate and so much fun for everyone to drive. Helmets and goggles are provided together with a small ipad with GPS maps. Navigation takes a bit of getting used to and it is easy to miss a turn on the trail, but also easy to get back on track. Really a lot of fun for all ages. You will, however, get dusty and dirty, so dress appropriately. Be sure to get to the top of the butte and take in the view. Go for the full day (for only $100 more) if you want to bring a lunch and spend time relaxing. This is a must do when in Bend.

Renting a side-by-side from Octane was the highlight of our trip to Bend. We were a small group - my buddy and his 6 and 10 year old boys and me and my 6 year old son. We each rented one of the 4-seater RZRs. They were pretty much brand new 1000cc RZRs. These things are awesome and have plenty of power and long suspension. These are not watered down or throttle limited in any way. Matt called us the day before and we had to switch riding areas because of wildfire activity near their primary area. He provided great directions and communication leading up to the day of the rental. They had plenty of loaner helmets and goggles that fit the adults and the kids - high quality Fly Racing helmets! They went over everything with us prior to the rental. He explained how to drive the RZR and use 2/4 wheel drive and High and Low gears. He also went through the GPS map on the ipad that is mounted in the RZR. This makes the day so awesome, because he dropped some pins on the map where we should be sure to visit: The best vistas, the best lakes, the best technical trails and some caves to explore, to boot! The ipad tracks where you've been, so it's easy to see where you should go next to explore. I have to say, my buddy and I both ride dirt bikes, so we kind of expected this to be good for the kids but sort of lame for us. But, it exceeded our expectations on every dimension. The trails were fast and flowy and the RZRs were powerful and really fun to drive. The terrain was so varied - some rocky technical stuff to climb in low-4 and some sand to go fast across and slide a bit in high-2! The dads had at least as much fun as the kids. There were some other families we saw who were taking it slow and easy, but they seemed to be having just as much fun. Different strokes for different folks, I guess. Even with a full day rental (we were out from 9am to 4pm) we didn't get to explore all of the riding area. We'll definitely be renting again on our next trip to Bend.

    Deschutes National Forest

I would highly recommend Octane for any family looking for a fun and adventurous afternoon. Matt was very accommodating and helpful. We spent 8 hours exploring the Deschutes National Forest; a part of Bend we've never seen before. An awesome way to make some everlasting memories! Thank You!!

Woo-hoo! What a hoot! Spent a weekend in Bend with friends, g/f suggested that we take a ride…read morewith Outriders. Although a bit cautious, it sounded like fun and we signed up. Interestingly, our friends had tried to sign up the next morning but were told that "they'd see what they could do" because apparently Outriders only runs a limited number of 4x4's per trip. But, we found out later that day that they'd added one vehicle to the run and we were all good to go. Launch point was about a 15 minute drive from our friends in S. Bend. Just a turnoff on a forest trail off of the road, we spotted our guide and vehicles and got situated. Helmets were fitted, and we were given a clean set of instructions from Jason, our guide. And off we went. We'd signed up for the two-hour run and honestly, about 15 minutes in, I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy it. It was a bit of a ride, even given the soft suspension of the 4x4's. However, it's hard to deny the beauty of the surroundings and the smiles on our faces. We got up to the top of a bluff whose same I don't recall - Sugar Bluff, maybe? - and stopped for a bit. Jason gave us a status check and a bit of history and geography info. He's very informative, and easy to talk to, very willing to answer questions. From there we headed through the forest to our next stop, some lava fields. Again, a bit of history, very informational about the age of the rocks, and some interesting facts about plant growth in relating to the lava rocks age. All in all, this was a heck of a ride. Up and down, bouncing all around, noisy, only a bit of dust (we were lucky that day so be forewarned if you do this during a dry spell). There are other options available, we're seriously considering one of them for our next trip to Bend. Don't forget to tip your guide!

Central Oregon Rentals is A+++. We rented five sleds for the Saturday between Christmas and New…read moreYears. The sleds were loaded into a five-place enclosed trailer and ready to go when we arrived at the shop. Michael the owner gave us a thorough run down of the trail systems (I've ridden in Minnesota a lot, but first time in Oregon), a walk through of the sleds, and other general tips. They also had a complete lineup of decent rental equipment, although renting isn't ever has good as having your own gear that you're used to. All of the sleds were quality Ski-Doo long tracks. We had two 850's that rocked the trails and the powder, two 600's for the less experienced riders, and one 900 two-up. Unloading and loading was easy, and it was a short 25 minute drive to the snow park. Great rental experience - would definitely rent again from Central Oregon Rentals. Thoughts about the Deschutes trail system around Mt. Bachelor: 1. We rode on what had to have been one of the busiest days of the year - bad planning on our part. By the time we got to the Wanoga sno-park the parking lot was full, but it really wasn't full: they could have fit at least 1/3 more rigs if folks would learn how to park. There was literally 10' between some rigs. We ended up parking along one of the roadways inside the snow park which worked. If you could beat the mountain traffic and make it higher up it would be better. See #2 below. 2. The trails leading up to the Mt. Bachelor - especially Trail 5 - were AWFUL. So many riders chewing it up, even though they were groomed the night before. They were even worse coming back down. If you like going 10 mph max on washboards you'll love them. Once we got past the mountain, Trail 5 was better, but not great. 3. The 250 miles of the Mt. Bachelor trail system is beautiful, but TBH after riding Minnesota, Wisconsin, and the UP, the trail system around Mt. Bachelor isn't the place to go for hard core riding. We rode all day and maybe got 40 miles - in the upper Midwest we'd get at least 100 miles on a low day. This is partly due to the number of people and the trail conditions, but there just aren't the same miles of trails if you really like to ride. 4. The stop at the Elk Lake resort was great. Definitely worth they trip out there. Would we ride the Deschutes Trail System again? -Yes, and we would definitely rent from Central Oregon Rentals. -Yes, but on a weekday or during the shoulder season. Definitely NOT on a holiday weekend. -Yes, but explore starting at a different location.

So we got one of the double trailers the night before. The next day, a light rain was falling which we knew meant snow to up at Wanoga. As we were driving our way up, my trailer started swinging back and forth like it was going to flip. I slowly pulled over and found that the lynch pin that held the trailer tilt down was missing. No idea how that could be gone. I walked along the freeway a bit to see if it had recently fallen out but nothing. Plus it was snowing and traffic was zipping past so I opted to go back to my vehicle. Not the pain in the ass I was looking for. We called and it took an hour for them to get back to us. By then, I had fixed it using a gear tie I had in my truck to latch it down. I also did a ratchet strap set up to try and hold it down and after assistance with one of Oregon State Police's finest, we were on our way. The sleds were amazing. I preferred the Polaris Assault over the Pro's. My buddy compared them to one being a bad ass Goldwing (the Assault) and the other a bad ass crotch rocket. But seriously, they were both super fun to ride and the location great. On the way back, about 3 blocks from dropping things off, my gear tie snapped and obviously the ratchet wasn't enough as the back of the trailer tipped and I was dragging metal on the street. I got it fixed and back again. The sad part was there were no apologies just something about the "prior customer must not have secured it". We also ended up leaving with the keys for the sleds. About 5m's from where we were staying we got a phone call asking about them so we turned around. Why my gf didn't leave them in the sled I don't know but we had to turn around to drop them off. Anyway, this brings me back to my first sentence. A simple checklist for the company and the customer before leaving with the sleds and after dropping them off would be helpful to all involved. Would I use them again? More then likely since I now know more about what is going on but I definitely would shop around first.
