I recently went on an overnight rafting trip with 2 friends in Oregon, and RiverStone Adventures was fantastic! Dan (the owner) arranged an "off the books" trip for us when other rafting companies would not, because of the time of year (October). Our guides Lauren and Greg were awesome -- Lauren was our in-boat guide, and Greg was our host who went ahead and set up camp for us. Everything was spectacular, and the food was amazing! We even had fresh-caught tuna for one of the meals, as well as delicious steak for dinner and eggs and bacon for breakfast. I was joking with my buddies that the food we had while camping was better than the meals we'd had in town the days before and after! A truly inspiring experience, I highly recommend camping overnight at least one day to really get to see the dark skies at night and take your time. There was also enough splash and rapids (only class 2-3) to make it fun without being too intense for those afraid of water or with little experience. read more

WHAT AN EXPERIENCE! We rafted the Deschutes yesterday with Travis as our guide. Here is my take: 1. Trip Organization: These folks have it dialed in from start to finish. They did everything to make this trip a memorable experience. All you need to do is make sure you follow their advice on what to bring with you such as water and sunscreen; simple and straightforward. A 2. Understanding the customer: Travis was very much attuned to how much "adventure" we wanted as a group. This was the first time rafting for several of us. Travis was great; he knew just the right amount of white water we could handle. A+ 3. The River: Holy smokes is it beautiful. A+++++ 4. Other: Travis is a wealth of knowledge. Not only do you get the white water experience but you also get his incredibly informative insights into the geology of the area, the history of the town and his keen eye to identifying all the wildlife on the river. We did a family trip on the McKenzie and had an absolute blast. Of all we did on our family vacation in Sunriver, all voted this #1. Our guide was co-owner Travis, who really added great energy and excitement to the experience. He did a great job getting the younger kids involved. Portable lunch was delicious. Travis is so crazy experienced that fire departments - even internationally - hire HIM to train them on swift water rescue. So we felt extraordinarily safe for our first whitewater experience. What a great day! Our family and friends rafter the Deschutes in Maupin with Travis, Oscar and Kali as our guides. Travis immediately made us feel welcome and safe. I was very worried about falling out of the boat and the water but Travis went out of his way to make me comfortable. He played with our kids and they had the time of their lives! This was the BEST part of my trip!!!!Definitely book through them!!!!! I came to Oregon from SoCal with my husband for a summer trip. Let me begin by saying my ideas of vacations usually involve tropical destinations filled with leisure. My husband loves adventures so I usually just tag-a-long to do stuff like this with him and out of politeness will remain engaged, but am usually disinterested, but this kayaking trip changed my time!!! Well, let me also say with alllll the things we did on this trip and my love of yelping, my review for this business was at the top of my list!! TRAVIS was phenomenal!!! I had been kayaking before in Montana and it was fun, so thought I knew what to expect. Boy was I wrong!!! From the initial introductory handshake, Travis' enthusiasm was contagious!!! What could've been a boring car ride was truly engaging. He is so knowledgeable in evvvvverything. He taught us a lot about all the sights and the local area and broke his talking points into thematic info. He knew the answer to any question we asked. Might I say he's probably a human search engine?! The kayaking itself was so great. With all his experience with rescue work and such I felt 100% safe. He was also quite hilarious!!! We were supposed to go with another party, but they ended up cancelling. Lucky us!!! We pretty much had a private trip. Being from SoCal, we weren't used to "cold" water so it was great he provided long sleeved tops and pants. I also loved the 360 degree views of our entire environment he gave us. Lunch was also provided: a yummy sandwich, chips, giant cookie, and drink. He also sends pics to you via google drive so you have the memories captured for a lifetime and doesn't do the typical outrageous upcharge of like $20 a photo like other excursions in tourist places. Highly Recommended! I rely a lot on Yelp reviews and take 5 star reviews seriously. These guys earn it. Our family of 6 have not been rafting before, our kids range in age from 8-18 so it's tough to find the right thing for us all to do. Rafting the McKenzie with RiverStone was perfect. The guides have 20 years of experience and train emergency crews in river rescue. They are also hilarious and obviously love being outside on a river. The lunch was really incredible. Highly recommend. (I don't usually do reviews but felt I had to write one for them b/c I had such a great experience.) Your guide is what will make or break your trip. Michael made the experience for me and my parents (first timers) an unforgettable one. Super personable, knowledgeable, fun, humorous and positive. He has years of experience in both Alaska and Oregon which was very reassuring. The rules/instructions while rafting were laid out plain and clear to ensure our safety. The weather during our stay was looking to be cloudy, slightly rainy and cold. Being from Hawaii, the weather and the ice cold river was a huge concern. Michael was very supportive and reassuring in making the experience a great one. We were given a courtesy call to check on us the day before about the conditions and he was able to talk me through the conditions and the water gear available for the trip. My parents were relieved to know there was protective gear. Michael was all about making sure we had the best experience possible and gave us two options, a long and short trip in case we were worried about being on the river and cold for too long. The gear he provided was perfect, we hardly got wet or cold except for our head and hands. No one had a problem being cold or uncomfortable and he even taught us a neat way to stay warm. He has a wealth of knowledge and taught us a lot about the river. The coolest thing was learning about Eddy's and being able to stop in one on the river and just chill there for a little while and take a few pictures. Navigated the rapids smoothly to take in the scenery, the water is so clear you can see the bottom and the blue tint is beautiful. Of course we hit the rapids taking on some solid waves, dipping, lifting, and speeding through like a roller coaster, with the awesome splashing of cold refreshing water. It was a fantastic day on the McKenzie river with just the three of us plus Michael, no other rafts on the river, peace and quiet, and an elevated water level with a fast flow which made it a special and unique experience. read more

My group was comprised of two families of four. Both of the families had two kids ages 9 to 6 years old. They broke apart the families into two groups with two river guides, Travis and Seo. Both the guys were awesome. Travis is your Proto-typical white water guide, smiling and laughing the entire time. Seo was affable and great with the kids. We did the half day trip down the McKenzie river. The trip was just long enough for the kids to not whine. The water was freezing and the day was warm. They give an excellent bag lunch halfway through the day. Everyone on the trip had a great time. We would definitely go and do it again. read more

Took our 5 kids ranging in age from 7-14 on their first rafting trip with Travis. He instantly made every one feel at ease with his sense of humor and adventurous spirit. On the trip we learned he has over 20 years experience and trains emergency personnel in river rescue. We could not have felt any safer which made the trip so much more enjoyable. The run down the river was exciting enough for our teens while still feeling safe for our littles. We hope to go again next year and bring other families with us to enjoy the ride. Next time we plan on staying a night or two at the Imperial River Company lodge since the trip starts and ends in the parking lot. Everything about our trip down the Dechutes with Michael and Evan of Riverstone was perfect!! The mix of some exciting Rapids paired with calmer sections was awesome and allowed you to enjoy the Rapids and cool off with splashes, then enjoy the lovely scenery and osprey and dry off. Michael and Evan were seriously terrific and made us feel welcome and comfortable right away, sharing great stories. Michael runs a great company, and the trip felt way more personal than some of the other groups that just send huge masses of people down the river at a time. The included lunch was yummy, we took a short walk off to a natural waterside to stretch our legs part way through, which was so, so cool! He was professional, funny, and super experienced in the raft. Our raft consists of people between mid 20s to early 50s. We had an amazing time on the river with Sao and Brian in August, 2018. Everyone loved it from age 7 to 70. And there were a lot of rapids, but the guide took us through them carefully. Safety was always the top priority. I read a lot of reviews before choosing RiverStone and I'm glad I did. Another boat flipped behind us that day- their belongings were being collected by our guides and others on the take out. Brian and Sao made the trip so fun for everyone. The kids couldn't get enough of the natural water slide. We are already talking about coming back to Bend next year and going again! read more

They let the teenagers go with Brian on one raft and he gave them the ride of their life with some awesome twists and turns that seemed unique to their company. I scheduled this trip for an adventure with my husband. We did the full day excursion on the Deschutes with Seo and had the time of our lives! We were paired with a family with 2 daughters and Seo met all of our needs! We had the fun of getting to know him on our drive from Bend. We had no worries and felt so well taken care of. Michael and travis are true river masters. I've done two trips with Riverstone on the McKenzie river. The first was two brutal cold and rainy days and Travis made it fun as hell, the next time was a two bright and sunny days filled with good swimming, fun water, beautiful scenery and funny stories. Michael is a rad guide. 10 out of 10 would use them again for more adventures. Currently scheming to see if I can use them for a longer trip with more rafting. If you were thinking about using Riverstone, do it. Super knowledgeable guides, fun and engaging experience, they know all the best spots on the river and can even direct you to rad spots in the area. No better guides will be found. read more

Where to start?! This company is very customer focused and highly competent! We had the time of our lives! We were a small group of 6 and we had the raft to ourselves. Travis with his daughter Kali were our guides with Oscar our mascot! They made our trip extra special. We were given great safety instruction. We practiced 'getting down'. Kali showed us how to float down the river, toes up! Stay cool! We were helped with our pfds so that they fit properly and checked again once they were wet and stretched. Travis made everything fun! Singing, splashing and tailoring the trip to our group. We had lunch in a private area on yummy Fearless Bakery sandwiches and cookies. We were able to pick wild blackberries and relax without a crowd. We took the Maupin Deschutes trip and it was super exciting, with amazing scenery! We saw osprey, a crane and deer! I would choose this company every time from now on. I believe you can not get a more individualized and fun trip from anyone else! read more

Talked with Michael to make reservations and he helped us figure out the best trip for us to take. Our guides were Karen and Matt and they were both awesome! We had 3 in our group and were grouped with a family of 8 and we all had a great time! I took my 15 year old son and his best friend out for a day with these guys, and we created some EPIC memories that we'll never forget. Our guide Travis is a bit of a troublemaker, but he's also an accomplished search and rescue trainer who creates safe boundaries and knows his local history. He was simply awesome. Our entire group had an amazing time. My son had never been rafting before and it didn't matter. Within moments he was paddling like a pro and taking the rapids head on. A day with no cell phones. Priceless. The rates are reasonable, the riverside bbq lunch was yummy, the boats clean and damn near unsinkable, the drivers expert and friendly ... pure perfection from pickup to drop off. Even if you've never been rafting before, you owe it to yourself to check these guys out. Who knows what adventure you'll find on the river. My husband and I went on this rafting trip during our vacation in Bend. What a blast! We had so much fun! Michael was our guide and we were joined by another group, a family of four (with two kids, 7 and 12). The river had lots of rapids but several calm spots so that you can relax and enjoy the scenery. Michael was the best, making it informative and fun for EVERYONE in the group! He was funny and entertaining but also extremely capable and knowledgeable. I was a bit apprehensive to be on the river, but Michael's calm manner and expert handling of the boat and all situations definitely made for a relaxing and enjoyable time! If you're in Central Oregon, this is the rafting trip. We took the McKenzie river half-day. Despite a cold river and uncooperative weather, we had a fantastic trip. The river and wilderness are stunning, and the rapids a lot of fun (no huge rapids, but you're paddling on moderate rapids for a big portion of the trip). Great company. We has a big group of 16 and the guides tailored each raft to the groups in them. The more adventurous teen boys had fun being more daring, while the raft with the 70 year old and the 5 year old felt like we got the rafting experience on the safer route.
