Just wow! This tour was spectacular and we couldn't have asked for a better tour guide! Dylan is so kind and so knowledgeable! Goes above and beyond to make sure guests have an enjoyable and personalized experience! I was a bit nervous about the tour especially worrying I'd be chilly. Well the team provided jackets and pants to wear over my clothes that added warmth and frankly it was perfect in the water. We went to Hasler lake and the views were incredible all around! I absolutely recommend this tours!

I live in Bend and have taken a few tours with Wanderlust; each one has been amazing.!! The cave tours are something you cannot do on your own as many of them are closed due to misuse by the general public. Wanderlust takes the upmost pride in sharing the best of Central Oregon with locals and visitors. Their guides are always friendly and knowledgeable, sharing a wealth of information. Our guide for the cave tour was Jared. He did a great job of making us feel welcome. He drove safely, narrated the journey, answered a plethora of questions and gave advice on what else people could do on their visit (restaurants and cool things to check out). If you are visiting or a local, I highly recommend you add a tour with Wanderlust to your calendar!

Absolutely amazing experience. Took my family the day after my elopement. It was a very nice trip to end the week together in Bend. Dylan was extremely knowledgeable of all the flora and fauna, as well as the history in Bend. We were completely blown away. Definitely memorable!!

Wow! We had the best tour guide. He gave us guidelines on how to canoe, but really served as a naturalist. He pointed out animals and trees with their own histories related to the Deschutes. He talked about geology and underground water ways, it ended up being much more than just canoeing down the Deschutes River! This was a great tour coupled with a short hike to breathtaking falls. Neither my boyfriend nor I had canoed before, and likewise we were the slowest of the group. This was a good exercise of working together and not killing each other on our little boat! :-D

Oh my.... Our group of six was lucky to have Colton as our guide and driver. We visited brewery, Ciderhouse, and distillery! All three off the beaten path an incredible businesses. Being introduced to these new businesses we will now be going back to patronize! Thank you Colton for sharing!

    The bonfire after snowshoeing

My family and I took a guided snowshoeing tour through the snowy forest. Hannah was our guide, and she was great, The snowshoeing was well explained and not overly exerting. She gave us kind of an eco-tour of the forest explaining the different trees and elements along the way. Our destination was the bonfire where we drank hot chocolate and ate sugary treats. We looked at the stars and she explained the different constellations. Then we had a quick snowshoe back and jumped in the van and came home. All in all it was a 5 star experience. (Dress warm ;)

Crawling through end of lava tube. Cool!

The prohibition lava tube tour is a must do. Katie (adventure guide) was incredible - extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The lava tube tour was very cool (literally, inside was a balmy 45F). There were a number of spots that require squatting under low ceilings, crawling over rock piles, and even crawling on hands and knees (all optional features of course). Oregon spirits distillery tour afterwards was very enlightening and delicious (comes with a tasting of whiskies and a cocktail of your choice). Highly recommended.

Wanderlust Tours gave us a wonderful snowshoe experience yesterday. We did the "Brews, shoes and views" tour! So fun to try beer tasting in the middle of the Forest while learning about old growth trees, wildlife and their tracks! We truly enjoyed Hannah, her expertise and knowledge were unparalleled and she was very helpful and personable. Hannah went above and beyond! It is wonderful to have help putting on your snowshoes and taking them off at the end! Hannah made sure that the whole experience was enjoyable. I can't wait to return again. I want to bring more friends and introduce them to snowshoeing!

Hi Joanna, the Central Oregon Breeze bus service is a great option for transport between Portland and Bend. The bus departs daily, with lots of options for stops and departure times.

Woo-hoo! What a hoot! Spent a weekend in Bend with friends, g/f suggested that we take a ride…read morewith Outriders. Although a bit cautious, it sounded like fun and we signed up. Interestingly, our friends had tried to sign up the next morning but were told that "they'd see what they could do" because apparently Outriders only runs a limited number of 4x4's per trip. But, we found out later that day that they'd added one vehicle to the run and we were all good to go. Launch point was about a 15 minute drive from our friends in S. Bend. Just a turnoff on a forest trail off of the road, we spotted our guide and vehicles and got situated. Helmets were fitted, and we were given a clean set of instructions from Jason, our guide. And off we went. We'd signed up for the two-hour run and honestly, about 15 minutes in, I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy it. It was a bit of a ride, even given the soft suspension of the 4x4's. However, it's hard to deny the beauty of the surroundings and the smiles on our faces. We got up to the top of a bluff whose same I don't recall - Sugar Bluff, maybe? - and stopped for a bit. Jason gave us a status check and a bit of history and geography info. He's very informative, and easy to talk to, very willing to answer questions. From there we headed through the forest to our next stop, some lava fields. Again, a bit of history, very informational about the age of the rocks, and some interesting facts about plant growth in relating to the lava rocks age. All in all, this was a heck of a ride. Up and down, bouncing all around, noisy, only a bit of dust (we were lucky that day so be forewarned if you do this during a dry spell). There are other options available, we're seriously considering one of them for our next trip to Bend. Don't forget to tip your guide!

The brewery guides at each stop were gracious to have us and loved sharing their beers, which was nice to feel welcomed around the brewery scene. I highly recommend the Brewery Bus as a fun activity if you're in Bend looking to check out the awesome brewery scene. Beyond all that, you get to try a lot of great beer!

Overall, the company was spot on: easy booking, great communication (clear guidance on what to wear, where to be, and what to expect), and friendly, professional staff. Everything ran smoothly. That said, the experience itself felt a bit underwhelming for some of us -- particularly those with prior rafting experience. The three main rapids were billed as Class 3, but they felt pretty tame. I never really needed the foot holds while paddling, and the adrenaline just wasn't there. Additionally, the actual time on the water was only about 40 minutes, which felt short. While Sun Country's website does state "Trip Distance: 3 River Miles - Approx. 1.25 Hours," it seems that includes the 15-minute bus ride each way. With five boats in our group, perhaps our group moved faster than typical -- but either way, it would help if Sun Country clarified this more explicitly to set realistic expectations. On the bright side, our guide Dillon was perfect -- upbeat, skilled, and made the trip as fun as possible. He was a total pro and truly enhanced the experience. Jumping in the water always feels amazing and unless you're really concerned about not being able to get pulled back in the boat, you should show off your best back flip or bomb off the side of the boat and enjoy the refreshing dip. In summary: This is a fun, family-friendly rafting trip, especially for first-timers or younger kids. But if you've rafted before and are looking for something more thrilling or substantial, I'd suggest considering one of Sun Country's full-day or multi-day adventures instead. For the $79 per person (plus tip) price tag, it might also be worth weighing other fun options in Bend -- like a round of golf or a great meal.

We met Rylan at a park next to the river in the town where we would start from and he led us to the boat launch point. He gave us a very detailed explanation of what we were going to be doing, how to do it as well as emergency instructions. On the river he not only made it exciting navigating us to the parts of the river we would enjoy but had good knowledge of the wildlife, geography and the locations we were in. At the mid-point we got out of the river for lunch and Ouzel set us up with a cooked meal from a local hotel in Maupin. Rylan had some fleeces for us to warm up and put us by a fire. We stopped at a few places along the river and at the last point got in the water. After getting the boat out of the water Rylan had some drinks for us and Ouzel had our car waiting for us after they shuttled it down. Definitely a first class operation that thought of everything we would need and made it as fun as I think it could possibly be. My 8 and 9 year olds loved it and thought it was the best part of the trip (except for being cold). When we got home there was a postcard from Rylan waiting for us thanking us for joining him on the river. What a nice touch. Next time we're in OR maybe we'll do a multi-day trip.
