Coleslaw was juicy but not too watery

Their meats are so tasty, moist and juicy but not fatty. Too bad they didn't have bourbon glazed burger the day I visited. So I have to come back sometime soon Staff are very friendly and polite. Dining area is very clean and ladies restroom too. I wish if they have fresh baked homemade rolls like Spring creek BBQ.

Time for a new review! As the previous visits, everything was so good. Food, ambiance, and helpful service from the ordering counter. We got those incredible beef Dino Ribs and, and a set of chopped BBQ pork, and the classic sides: potato salad, coleslaw, and French fries. And of course, today was banana creme pudding day! (3 of those for each adult and one baby). Love, love, love Outpost36 BBQ & sides! Great family place.

I was in the Keller area for some meetings and one of the people I was with suggested Outpost 36. It was lunch time, the restaurant is pretty big and yet there were only 3 other tables of people so I wondered how it was going to be... I ordered at the counter. I ordered brisket (moist) and tenderloin. While the brisket was respectable and I'd get it again in a second, the star of this show was the tenderloin. It was amazing. There is a meat market on site too, where you can buy several different cuts of meat to take home and prepare on your own. The staff both in the meat market and the restaurant were great land provided great experience. On a final note, as any great barbecue restaurant does, they have named their smokers. They named theirs Willie & Waylon, how can you not respect that?!!! Review #2134

Still delicious from my review a year ago. We went on a Friday night around 6:30pm. There was a little line but it moved quickly and we ordered a couple of drinks while we waited. I recommend the jalapeño margarita! Fresh crushed jalapeños make it even more refreshing. I tried the smokehouse burger and it was cooked to perfection with the bourbon glaze sauce and a crunchy onion ring to top it off. The beef tallow fries are my favorite side. And they have a butcher shop in house too!

Great place if your craving something smoked! Found this place by accident, food was great! Service was great! Will definitely be back next time I'm in the area!

Great portions ! Large interior seating area!! Smoked steak was delicious and tender. The fries were not hot but they do like skinny fries at times. Prefer fresh cut with skins on like Sammy's. The rest were all great. This is our third time to come. Food comes out fairly quickly and employees friendly.

    Great kitchen staff.

Ribs were good but looked oddly brown - maybe put in a steamer? Smoked turkey was okay - tender and not overly smoky. Potato salad was bland, Cole slaw was even more bland. Pinto beans were surprisingly good! We asked about bread after getting our food and were told bread comes with a meat dinner. Oops! They would get it - but didn't and we then asked again just for the principle of it all. When the rolls came, cold, hard and not worth even a bite. Everyone working there was polite and attentive. ( One note- the trivia music was SO loud you couldn't hear or talk comfortably.) Probably not worth repeating. Oh, and we were only one of two tables eating.

We all agreed that our dishes lacked flavor in one way or another. The brisket & pulled pork were cooked well but had no seasoning, the salsa tasted like blended veggies but was missing salt or cilantro or something- anything!, and the elote was drowning in butter. The BBQ sauce Sweet Baby Ray's, which is fine, but don't label it as your BBQ sauce and then give me SBR with my to-go order. There is a housemade glaze that we all thought was very odd - had a strong raisin/date flavor and it was sweet. The only things we could think of that it might taste good on were something sweet like a cinnamon roll, or maybe to glaze a ham. I tried it with the pulled pork and didn't love it. Overall, our meal was fine, but completely forgettable.

The brisket was good, and the ribs were phenomenal. But the best part was the customer service. After hearing I was from out of town, and seeing I had brisket and ribs on my plate, the guy taking my payment said I should try the sausage, so he gave me a plate of sausage on the house. Great service! Then when I was leaving, I said another thank you, and a young lady asked me if I wanted a tour of the smokers and kitchen! So cool! She, Kamy, turned out to be one of the owners. Had a great tour, met the pit boss, and when I told her how much I enjoyed the ribs, she said they make their own rub, and would I like a sample to take home? Of course I said yes, thinking she'd give me a little sample, but she brought out a big ziplock bag ... probably 2 lbs of rub. Amazing! They made such an impression, I went back for lunch the next day as Monday is the day they have burnt ends ... and their maple-chipotle sauce on them made them amazing! So ... there are a lot of great BBQ joints in Dallas, but they've definitely made me a fan! Thank you Kamy and the LaFaver family!

Great barbecue does not need sauce. I was tempted to drown the brisket in it. First time I enjoyed the sides more than the meats. Initially, I was skeptical of the pinto beans. I would have preferred a more traditional sauce, but the pinto beans was delectable. The fried sides were made to order. As a result, they were fresh and hot when they were served about 10 minutes later. After a so-so meal, I was looking forward for soft serve ice cream. Unlike other restaurants, theirs is only complimentary with a kid's meal. Otherwise, it was 50 cents. Since many diners may not carry change, there should be an option to pay at the register. I got the brisket sandwich, okra, potato salad and had to try their peach cobbler. All that for under $20. That impressed me even more.
