Since we had a taste for some BBQ and were in the area, we figured we would give this place a try, especially since it is connected to HEB. I tried the 3-meat plate, which consisted of 3 ribs, natural sausage, and pulled pork. For my sides, I went with collard greens and cream corn. He had the 2-meat plate, which consisted of 3 ribs and pulled pork; his sides were mac & cheese and cornbread. Honestly I never gave a second thought to trying a BBQ restaurant inside a grocery store. Then HEB said, watch this! I stopped in HEB around lunchtime for one of their meals and the aroma of Q pulled me in. It was a late lunch time so only a couple of people inside eating. The decor is definitely Q and Texas themed. Who cares though....bow good is the BBQ? You can order from an electronic kiosk and pay right there too. So no miscommunications. I got the brisket sandwich, okra, potato salad and had to try their peach cobbler. All that for under $20. That impressed me even more. I had the order in less than 10 minutes and a 10 minute drive home. I was blown away by the brisket! Still very warm and a great taste. The bark was crispy and very tasty! The the fried okra knocked my socks off. Perfectly cooked extra crispy and amazing taste with just the right amount of spices. Then the mustard based potato salad impressed me. It was perfect! You can either order at the desk or order at the kiosk they have provided in the front. Ordering on the kiosk was easy. Food quality - so disappointing. The only thing I would go back for is the moist brisket. And their bbq sauce comes pre-packaged (we had to walk back up to the counter after getting our food because they didn't offer when we picked up our meals). The corn was ok.. it wasn't great but it was edible. The cornbread was a 0/10. It was so burnt on top that I thought it was a banana nut bread of some type.. We grabbed some BBQ on our way out of Texas. I have to admit I'm not a BBQ connoisseur at all, but I have had some pretty good BBQ elsewhere. We both got the 2 meat combo. I got sausage and chopped brisket with potato salad and mac n cheese for my sides. It was ok. The brisket was a little fatty but tasted good, the sausage had a nice spice to it without being over powering. I didn't care too much for the sides. The cheese in the mac n cheese was a little to thin and the potato salad was just ok. I liked that they gave you pickles and onions on the side. Oh, and the soft white bread was delish! Hubby got the pulled pork and jalapeno cheddar sausage with beans and corn bread. They were all ok. We also tried the peach cobbler and banana pudding. The cobbler had a little clove taste to it, which was different and the banana pudding was missing the banana flavor. Both BBQ sauces were pretty good. This is a review from the day after opening, accidentally posted to the wrong location! =) Most of these stars are for the staff and the sides. The staff, despite being ridiculously busy, were nothing but smiles. This was essentially a soft opening in the middle of the most overwhelming grocery store opening I've ever seen. I thought they did great. They kept the place clean and were walking around in case anyone needed anything. The food... was fine. The brisket is weirdly sweet and slightly sour at the same time. It didn't taste like any Texas brisket I've ever had and I've lived all over Texas. But the sandwich bun was great and my sister added coleslaw to it which she said was good. The ribs had a great flavor but they were overcooked, which is fine, they'd been open for like, 24 hours so not bad! The cornbread was slightly overcooked and a little dry but the flavor was good, I'd definitely get it again. Add a little of the cream corn and it was awesome. The mac'n'cheese and cream corn were my favorites, both were just on point, absolutely great. The corn was fire roasted, that just won the ballgame. If you were to add a little creamy habanero sauce and cotija or queso fresco, their cream corn could be elote. Another highlight was the pickles. They were so good and I was so sad I didn't get a container. Turns out they sell big containers of them in the cold meal ready area. My sister didn't tell me until we left the store. So, before I end this, I'll say I'm probably one of the only people in the south who doesn't like banana pudding. It's just not my thing, I haven't liked it since I was little. I tried a small bite of my sister's. I had to assert some serious will power to remain polite and not rip it out of her hands. It's delicious. I'm going to have to say I'm not that big of a fan of HEB's BBQ place. They have an order at the screen option which seems to be the quickest way to get your order in, but my husband wanted to go ahead an order at the counter. The sides were very lack luster ... like I've had better at other grocery stores counters and this is supposed to be HEB's resturant in their store vs just a counter in the store ... We both ended up trying sandwiches. Both decent but with as much BBQ competition there is in the area, and other restaurant choices near this HEB, not really worth it. If all you are getting is a meat option, and your only stop is HEB, I can see this being an option. Just grab yourself a different kind of side from inside the grocery store like chips, fruit or whatever. Plus a treat from the bakery counter! If your giving yourself time for a sit down meal, go support one of the restaurants nearby instead. read more

I had a delightful experience at the new H-E-B Alliance True Texas BBQ. The approximately 20-minute wait, including ordering at the menu, went by quickly given the order size and line length. I thoroughly enjoyed the food; the brisket was tender, the ribs had great flavor, and the sausage was delicious. Additionally, Texas Torpedo's were excellent, but be cautious with the jalapeños as they can be quite hot. The brisket, mac n cheese with pulled pork, spare ribs, BBQ beans, and banana pudding were all 5-star dishes. The location features a new, modern BBQ decor that's really inviting. You order at the counter, and they call your number when your food is ready, which keeps things efficient. It's a great spot for families and groups. This place is absolutely amazing, I have been here a few times before but today I decided to leave a review. The food here is great I've had the number 1 meat plate and it is very good they give you some onion slices, two pieces of bread, a jalapeño, and 2 packs of their BBQ sauce (1 sweet and 1 spicy). I've also had the chicken tenders which are very good as well, they are very tender and succulent. The service here is impeccable they are very friendly here. Today I bought a Dr. Pepper and When I went to the fountain to get my drink it started coming out ok but then it ran out of syrup (I had bought a big cup from here a few months ago that costed 10 dollars but the refills were only 99 cents) so I had noticed that it ran out of syrup but since it was still dark I took a sip and it tasted like carbonated water, so I went up to the cashier and told the guy that the Dr. Pepper was out and so he said to dump it, and then he went to the back and filled it up for me, he is very nice. It is a very nice restaurant it's a little pricey though but still very nice, it is kind of quiet in the restaurant but it is inside of an H-E-B which is a pretty big grocery store so there were grocery store noises but that is ok. They have a lot of decorations around the restaurant my favorite one the bovine with the out line of the state of Texas inside it. If I could give it 10 stars I would. read more

The new HEB is awesome! It wasn't too crazy, busier than your normal store, but a week later, and it seems to be slightly slowing down. My wife and I went in and out fairly quickly. I will say the shining star is True Texas BBQ. Who doesn't love Brisket and some grocery shopping. The food was amazing. Turkey was my favorite. But the customer service was remarkable. It was especially cool that I even got to meet Danielle the pitmaster, which was a very cool experience. Also, you can see the phenomenal leadership of Edie, the restaurant manager. Stopped in the other day at our local HEB new store. This BBQ place is inside HEB in Alliance. Wait not bad, but almost everything is a la cart. Even the hard cold butter to put on your bread. My husband liked it but for me everything was just a little off. He had a sliced "bigger" brisket sandwich. I had the 2 meat platter. Ribs were pretty good, brisket was pretty good with a good crust. Mac & Cheese, pretty standard kind of like Velvetta cheese Mac & Cheese. It was ok, not dry but creamy and not a lot of flavor. The potato salad was pretty good. Had a slight taste of vinegar which I wasn't expecting. Usually if you can taste and condiment it would be like dill pickle juice. A little expensive. We probably won't go back just because it's not our "taste". But I'm sure there will be a lot of people who like it. Not bad, just not our thing. read more
