Their meats are so tasty, moist and juicy but not fatty. Too bad they didn't have bourbon glazed burger the day I visited. So I have to come back sometime soon Staff are very friendly and polite. Dining area is very clean and ladies restroom too. I wish if they have fresh baked homemade rolls like Spring creek BBQ.

Even babies love a Dino Rib!

Time for a new review! As the previous visits, everything was so good. Food, ambiance, and helpful service from the ordering counter. We got those incredible beef Dino Ribs and, and a set of chopped BBQ pork, and the classic sides: potato salad, coleslaw, and French fries. And of course, today was banana creme pudding day! (3 of those for each adult and one baby). Love, love, love Outpost36 BBQ & sides! Great family place.

I was in the Keller area for some meetings and one of the people I was with suggested Outpost 36. It was lunch time, the restaurant is pretty big and yet there were only 3 other tables of people so I wondered how it was going to be... I ordered at the counter. I ordered brisket (moist) and tenderloin. While the brisket was respectable and I'd get it again in a second, the star of this show was the tenderloin. It was amazing. There is a meat market on site too, where you can buy several different cuts of meat to take home and prepare on your own. The staff both in the meat market and the restaurant were great land provided great experience. On a final note, as any great barbecue restaurant does, they have named their smokers. They named theirs Willie & Waylon, how can you not respect that?!!! Review #2134

Still delicious from my review a year ago. We went on a Friday night around 6:30pm. There was a little line but it moved quickly and we ordered a couple of drinks while we waited. I recommend the jalapeño margarita! Fresh crushed jalapeños make it even more refreshing. I tried the smokehouse burger and it was cooked to perfection with the bourbon glaze sauce and a crunchy onion ring to top it off. The beef tallow fries are my favorite side. And they have a butcher shop in house too!

Great place if your craving something smoked! Found this place by accident, food was great! Service was great! Will definitely be back next time I'm in the area!

Great portions ! Large interior seating area!! Smoked steak was delicious and tender. The fries were not hot but they do like skinny fries at times. Prefer fresh cut with skins on like Sammy's. The rest were all great. This is our third time to come. Food comes out fairly quickly and employees friendly.

    Great kitchen staff.

I love how fast we got our food and the sides were just as good as meat itself. The service was quick and very helpful for first time goers. Then head inside to collect your sides, of which there are many. Then complete your purchase with the cashier at the end of the line. Tonight I tried a little of everything: the brisket - full of smoky flavor and super tender, yet it tended to crumble rather than being able to slice it; the pulled pork - juicy and tender; the jalapeño cheddar sausage - full of flavor and zip, IMO the star of the show; the turkey - dust-dry and flavorless. This one was a disappointment, however, when he was assembly my order I noticed that the Carver did locate a butt end in which he sliced the rest of the meat from. I'm sure the fresh off the smoker, huge breast that just got put down on the warmer would've been just fine in juicy flavor. They should have found some other use for that dry butt end of turkey instead of serving it to me because I took only one bite and threw the rest away. For sides, I had the jalapeño sweet corn casserole (outstanding!). Coleslaw (fresh) and complimentary pinto beans. These beans were excellent and they are cooked with what I'm assuming are the leftover scraps of meat; what a flavorful side item and they are free! I love their regular sauce, didn't care for the flavor their spicy sauce. Sauces are available on a warmer which further adds to the flavor. I did get a piece of whiskey pie to -go. Their pie slices are small, which was fortunate, in this case, because I didn't find it to be very good. Overall, fantastic food, young servers and staff were respectful and helpful. Nice air-conditioned, indoor dining as well as outdoor dining tables.

The brisket was good, and the ribs were phenomenal. But the best part was the customer service. After hearing I was from out of town, and seeing I had brisket and ribs on my plate, the guy taking my payment said I should try the sausage, so he gave me a plate of sausage on the house. Great service! Then when I was leaving, I said another thank you, and a young lady asked me if I wanted a tour of the smokers and kitchen! So cool! She, Kamy, turned out to be one of the owners. Had a great tour, met the pit boss, and when I told her how much I enjoyed the ribs, she said they make their own rub, and would I like a sample to take home? Of course I said yes, thinking she'd give me a little sample, but she brought out a big ziplock bag ... probably 2 lbs of rub. Amazing! They made such an impression, I went back for lunch the next day as Monday is the day they have burnt ends ... and their maple-chipotle sauce on them made them amazing! So ... there are a lot of great BBQ joints in Dallas, but they've definitely made me a fan! Thank you Kamy and the LaFaver family!

Great barbecue does not need sauce. I was tempted to drown the brisket in it. First time I enjoyed the sides more than the meats. Initially, I was skeptical of the pinto beans. I would have preferred a more traditional sauce, but the pinto beans was delectable. The fried sides were made to order. As a result, they were fresh and hot when they were served about 10 minutes later. After a so-so meal, I was looking forward for soft serve ice cream. Unlike other restaurants, theirs is only complimentary with a kid's meal. Otherwise, it was 50 cents. Since many diners may not carry change, there should be an option to pay at the register. We were meeting some friends for a late lunch and needed somewhere in the area and decided to give this place a shot, When we walked in (2:00 on a Tuesday) we were the only ones there. We were happily greeted and invited to take our time deciding. I had the sliced brisket sandwich & hubby had the Lil JJ's sandwich which was chopped brisket & sausage - plus an order of fries. My brisket sandwich was PACKED with juicy, perfectly cooked slices - hubby's was overflowing with meat - he says it was the best sandwich he's had in a long time! The sauce is available in little containers in the dining room & was slightly sweet (I used TWO on my sandwich because it was so good). Even the buns got some love with a little buttery toasting. Our friends got combo plates with 1/2 chicken, brisket, sausage, & turkey with sides of beans & potatoe salad and they were very impressed as well. THIS place contends with the best of them! One thing we noted is that some places grill one meat well, but the rest are just okay. For example, good ribs and so-so brisket. That's not the case here! Everything we tried was incredibly tender! It's still tender despite warming it up the next day! There are ample sides. We tried macaroni and cheese and fried okra. Both were good. There was ample seating, extra parking, and the staff made us feel like we were in a family member's backyard. They were friendly and helpful. Please try Lil JJ's!
