Outer Banks Brewing Station is such a unique place and one of my favorite stops in Kill Devil Hills. The first thing you notice is the wind turbine towering over the building, and it's not just for show. This was the very first wind powered brewpub in the United States, and it still supplies a portion of their electricity today. It makes the place feel like more than just a restaurant and brewery, it's a piece of history and a real landmark. The beer is excellent with a good range of styles, and the food menu has both local seafood and Southern inspired dishes that pair really well with what they brew. The kids and I loved the hushpuppies. They have some Gluten Free menu items available and can do some substitutions to help make items more GF friendly (swapping out the beer cheese for example). The outdoor space is also a big plus. The backyard has picnic tables, games, and even a pirate ship play area for kids which makes it easy for families to enjoy themselves while parents relax with a drink. On some evenings they have live music which gives it a lively but still laid back feel. Between the wind powered story, the great food and drinks, and the family friendly atmosphere, this spot really stands out on the Outer Banks.

What a nice spot. I've never had crab bisque so I can't compare it to anything, but it was a 10/10! I absolutely loved it. My favorite thing today. Besides the wine- got a Chardonnay from New Zealand and it is probably the best wine I've ever had in my life. You can smell the goodness. Loved it. Got the burger and sweet potato fries. The BEAST burger was ok. It was good but nothing special. The hush puppies were so good. Love the music playing and the atmosphere OH MY ACTUAL GOD!!!! The carrot cake is the BEST carrot cake that has ever been born. My husband is a carrot cake connoisseur and he melted. The pralines are such an epic touch. I'm coming back for that cake tomorrow

Honestly our favorite bar to go to when we're down in OBX. ESPECIALLY if there's a DJ - we just know it's gonna be a good time. We recently hung out in their backyard area for live music and had a great time! They have plenty of seating and a mini bar outside. We've never tried their food but the drinks are normally pretty decent. I always get a lemon drop and they're pretty good but not very strong. It takes me about 4 to feel anything. The only complaint we have is that they advertise that they're open til midnight but sometimes when we go, there is just a bunch of tables and chairs with no music or anything. It's kind of a strange vibe unless you go on a night with a DJ.

This was my favorite restaurant for our recent trip to the Outer Banks. Loved that they had a couple Vegan options, yet could make us seafood lovers happy. Loved that they had Sonoma Cutrer for $10 a glass. (yes I know it is a brewery). Vegans were happy with their Tacos and Teriyaki Tofu. I loved the Scallops with risotto. Got the small portion which was three scallops. Not quite full, I added on a cup of the crab bisque, and that was so rich I couldn't finish it. (very delicious though). Husband loved his fried shrimp. Place was clean, friendly great service and a nice bathroom.

Such a fun outdoor area to eat at! Their beer garden area has a sand pit for corn hole, a pirate ship playground and a mini stage area for live music. There's tons of outdoor seats. We came on a Thursday for lunch and it was essentially empty outside besides us - Salmon Caesar salad: So fresh and refreshing! The salmon was perfectly cooked and the chargrilled areas were done amazingly and tasted so good. - Peel & eat shrimp: Hubby enjoyed this! - Beers: I loved the lemongrass wheat! I also tried their kolsch and other witbier. Both were refreshing for a hot day!

The restaurant is so fun to eat at with a bar and live music on the stage. This was one of the places in the Outer Banks bar crawl, and when I went shortly after Christmas, they had karaoke and a grinch going around to take pictures and singing. The clam chowder is not very good and it's not creamy at all, but the hush puppies and fried fish are delicious. I definitely reccomend this place if you're visiting, it has such nice vibes.

Wish I would've taken more pics of my food but this was by far my favorite restaurant during my most recent visit to the outer banks! Food was great! Service was great! Friendly and fast. Cost was also decent! Loved loved the ambiance. Had me singing in the bathroom which was also very clean. I will definitely be going here again!

We came in last minute on Valentine's Day without a reservation. We were seated immediately. Party of 4 ladies the full menu was available as well as Valentine's Day specials. It was out last night at the Outer Banks and our last brewery. Thank you for the hospitality.

Still coming here 11 years later. Still getting the fantastic scallops!

I guess the Rockfish tacos were a daily special, so I ordered the "World Famous" Mahi tacos while Ms T ordered a crabcake sandwich. I think we were both a little disappointed. Her sandwich was definitely for bun lovers. She tore off enough bread for another sandwich and still had plenty. Restaurants are often guilty of conflating a huge bun with good sandwich. She was not particularly impressed with the crab cake, saying it was overloaded with thyme. I ordered my Mahi "blackened" and it really was not. The seasonings were good although also heavy with thyme. The flour tortillas were of poor quality, very thin and leathery and not provided hot. Hence the tacos were room temperature when eaten. I liked the finely shredded cheese that was not served refrigerator cold. The white sauce they serve is just wrong for these tacos. It is too sweet, too tart, making it harsh. Instead, I used the sauce that came with her crab cake and that was much better. Finally the mahi was very dry. I guess that is kind of the way that mahi is, but this really needed plenty of sauce. Kudos to them for serving good jasmine rice. This was not as good as we remembered. It is OK, not great and could be improved with just a few changes. We should have tried the burgers.

Draft beer and cocktails available. Food was super delicious and not overly gigantic. Our burgers were grilled perfectly with just a minimum amount of condiments(.50) for shrooms, grilled onions and mayo(yup, mayo costs money). The tots are a seasonal thing so I got that. Delicious as tots are usually a staple in my diet. Sodas are free refills and our server even gave me a to-go cup. I live a refreshing fountain soda. The indoor dining area has lots of beach themed decor. There is a full bar at the front. I think on the weekends and summer season they also have outdoor music.
