Wonderful place, we loved the food, atmosphere, and service so much that we already went back! They have great outdoor seating, and both times we visited we were able to get a table without waiting, around 8 pm slightly off season. There's also a large outdoor area with live music behind the restaurant. You can hear it from the dining area, but it's not too loud or distracting. The outdoor seating can feel a little dark in the evening, though. There is parking behind the restaurant, with a one-way entrance on one side of the building and the exit on the other. We couldn't find a spot there either time, though, and ended up parking in a nearby lot. Everything we ordered was very tasty, which isn't that common when trying this many different dishes. Everything also tasted very fresh. A definite highlight was the tiramisu. It's quite large, tasted very fresh, and was one of our favorite things we tried. Over our two visits, we tried: * Shrimp and pine nuts: the shrimp was excellent and not overcooked, and the dish wasn't spicy at all. * Shrimp and grits: very flavorful, with just a little bit of spice. * Clam linguine: a good amount of clams, and they weren't overcooked. * Southern tomato pie: good, although a little oily for my taste. * Ron's clam chowder: perfectly fine, but nothing particularly special; pretty much exactly what you'd expect from clam chowder. * Duck Dynasty burger: tasty, although the patty was a little on the thinner side. * Tatonka burger: very flavorful, though a bit salty. * Duck Brie LT: juicy and very tasty. * Burrata special: also very good; I don't think this one was on the regular menu. They also have a nice selection of beers on tap as well as non-alcoholic drinks. Overall, a really enjoyable place with consistently good food, a relaxed atmosphere, and friendly service. We come to duck/corolla/obx every year and we drive past this place a million times. After seeing a fb post asking for dinner recommendations and roadside was suggested numerous times we decided to go tonight for dinner and we LOVED it. Our waiter was amazing, great people watching , amazing food. No pictures because phone did not eat first we did. My MIL and I got the bleu burger and it was phenomenal. My husband for the flounder special and he said it was amazing also. We will absolutely be coming back and recommending this place to others ! TLDR: yummy food and good service. Got there early so no wait! First time here since new owners and renovations. The inside is plain, it used to be a kitschy place that felt warm. Now it's blank walls and beige. So not loving the renovation. Outside looks great though. Know it is a small place and gets busy so there will be a wait at normal dinner time during the season! The server (Hannah) was very good. Friendly and attentive, but not overly. Seven of us with separate checks and she got everything right with a smile on her face. The food was yummy! I started with the warm mushroom salad - glad that was kept on the menu! The vinaigrette is soooo good! Then I had clams linguine, which had good flavor and was pretty. Great job again tonight. The flounder franchaise special was very good. The fish was cooked properly which is not easy for flounder. Many restaurants that offer fish cant handle flounder and it is served mushy. Not the case here, tonight. Excellent flounder, a big treat. The blackened dolphin was also exceptional. This was from the sandwich menu but we just wanted the fish, not the bread. If it was not fresh, then it was cooked so well that I could not tell. Excellent texture and flavor. Loved the slaw served with the fish. The buttata special was a big hit too. We might go back to do it all over again tomorrow. Good service, no nonsense, focused, attentive, had to hustle. We spent a week in Duck and this was a fantastic fresh meal with friendly service. There were 9 of us (4 adults and 5 kids). We ordered burgers, crab cakes, mussels, pasta, burrata app, BBQ sandwich, and chicken salad sandwich. Everyone liked their meal. They also had live music in the back with many beers on tap and other drinks. Great job! read more

I was excited to try out the Roadside Bar and Grill after checking out the various restaurants available in duck. Unfortunately, we weren't able to sit outside, but there are only a few tables outside that overlook the street. We ended up sitting in a booth next to the kitchen, that was both interesting and a touch annoying. It was pretty cool to see all the food come out and see what people were ordering. Overall the food items we all ordered were quite good, but our service was just so so. I'm sure business is very bumping on a Saturday evening but I feel it could've been a little better. I'd recommend checking out the Roadside Bar and Grill as it is one of the few good options in duck. read more

Absolutely fantastic!!! It was a birthday lunch and I chose Roadside because I've never been and I'm local. We arrived at 12, and walked right in. The owner/chef walked us in, very friendly. We picked a booth, atmosphere absolutely fitting, it was both warm and fun. Our waiter was excellent, knowledgeable and friendly. Great menu with something for everyone. I had a cranberry and vodka, good! We all got salads, I got the Roadside salad and a tomato pie. Just wow....the tomato pie was amazing, I brought most home, but because of just that I'd go back, a must try for sure. The salads were very good, and one friend had clam chowder and she said it was excellent. We all left both full and planning on going back before they close for winter updates. Ask my friends, my family, my business partners (who are wealthy and handsome beyond belief), and my lovers to describe me and they will all say the same thing; I abhor leaving less than ideal "YELP" reviews. I have a hippocratic oath to honesty though, and unlike me, that does not take vacation. While the young server was delightful, my food was not. My smashburger was lathered LATHERED with mayonnaise, which was NOT listed on the menu. I'm talking both buns. Perhaps it is custom in this deep, deep southern state but where I come from it is customary to list what is in your food on your menu. The icing on top? No fryer at this establishment, meaning I had to eat chips with my mayoburger like I was at a post rec-softball cookout of some sort. Be better read more

Roadside was a fun place to go. Our server was really nice and attentive. The staff here, although young, is very good. That was probably the best part of the dining experience. The seafood pasta's, were unfortunately quite bland. The seafood portions were nice though which is usually a rare find. The noodles tasted like they were boiled in water without salt sadly. The burgers are all smash burgers and are pretty good. Would recommend the burgers over the pastas or seafood dishes. The food was alright, but the staff was definitely the highlight. read more

Stopped by Roadside Bar for dinner with a group of friends. They have a covered outdoor seating area and an indoor seating area. We were quickly sat. Their menu is pretty limited and doesn't offer much variety in my opinion. I was able to try several dishes on the menu. Clam Chowder: This was pretty disappointing. It was served lukewarm and lacked any strong seafood flavor. Carolina Muddle: looking at this on the menu, I thought this would be solid. It was a pretty light Cajun flavor and needed more of a kick and spice. We added hot sauce afterwards which made it a little better. This was just okay. The clams tasted off to me. It was definitely a muddle. I had a bite of the duck and that was by far the most decent dish on the menu. My friend ordered it well done and it was still tender. This was a pretty average and disappointing meal. Everything tasted under seasoned and mid. For the price point, I expected much better in taste and amount of food. read more

Had a good ole time at Roadside Bar and Grill out in Duck, NC. Pretty much a quick drive or bike ride if your staying at one of the beach houses. My group very much enjoyed our meal. Seafood was in abundance at this dinner. Favorite dishes were the Carolina Muddle and Clam Chowder. Chowder was so good that we had to get a bowl to go. Service was good. Our waitress was super fun and knew the menu well. Made some great suggestions for the more indecisive people in the group. This place has a back area filled with bars and live music. This place was not our first choice, but it ended up being great. All the food spots in Duck fill up quickly, and we found ourselves walking around looking for a decent spot to get a drink and some lunch on a rainy morning. We had an absolutely delicious plate of fresh shrimp. The shrimp were large and delicious. So fresh! My husband got a fish sandwich which hit the spot and my fish tacos were delicious. Drinks were also good and refreshing. This place is a very solid lunch. The ladies serving were a bit overwhelmed with patrons, but they did a good job keeping up. I remember liking this more in the past. On my most recent visit I am sorry to say I was sorely disappointed. As others have noted the food takes soo long. I don't know if it takes longer if seated outside? The other two times I sat inside and the service was pretty fast; this time we were outside and all the tables seemed to be waiting forever for their food. The food was okay - I got the pad Thai with shrimp and the noodles were way too sweet. I noticed a lot of crossover between dishes, for example the slaw on my dining companion's fish tacos is the same slaw they use for the tuna sashimi. The aioli on the fish tacos tasted and looked like tzatziki, so I'm sure that was re-purposed as well. The fish and shrimp were good though. All in all just okay! read more

On our last evening stay in the Outer Banks, our group of 8 friends/neighbors from Northern Virginia decided to try Roadside Bar and Grill in Duck, NC tonight. It did not disappoint! Everyone had something different and everything was awesome, including our waitress; KIm. Sort of a hole in the wall as far as looks go. My partner had the Tuna special. I had the flounder special - both were excellent. The server was lovely and very helpful. We were in a group and she handled everything perfectly, was very friendly. There is some very nice outdoor seating on the deck. Inside there are about 6 tables downstairs - 3 upstairs with a bar. Naturally they replaced it. But when the check came not like a 10% off or something on that entrée for having to replace it and because I had to eat my lunch 15 minutes after my husband finished his because I got grossed out by a hair? that's really too bad.
