The place has really gone down hill. I have always liked the food but the service is trash. Walked in at 9pm and was seated right next to the hostess station. We sat and waited until 9:12 watching server after server walk past our table without a glance. It was the last straw when one of the servers stood within a foot of us to gossip with the hostess. My husband had to turn around and ask the hostess if we were ever going to be served. She looked at us like we were crazy and walked off. I'm a steak snob, and I've had a couple of issues with this particular franchise in the past, but went in there for an early dinner with a friend yesterday. We were both pleasantly surprised Most places I go, I have to put extra seasoning on the steak and generally use a little A-1, but the steak I got last night was absolutely perfect. Cooked a perfect MR, seasoned perfectly, and presented beautifully. No A-1, and for the first time in months - I finished a whole bone-in ribeye. OH Outback, I love your 6 oz Victoria Filet, but I despise your service. Seriously, I would really like to come here more so I can get my under 600 calorie steak and veggie meal, but every time I come I leave so frustrated with your service I cannot bring myself to return for a few months. The service here is slow at best, inattentive, and downright painful. I must admit the manager does try and make things right, but you can only do this so many times without improvement and expect people to still be patrons of your restaurant. I have to give them a 3 star rating because the food does not disappoint, however, sometimes it is cold because of the poor service. I don't usually feel compelled to issue five stars to a chain, but this particular Outback knocks it out of the park every time I am here with outstanding service and the most consistently perfectly cooked and beautifully cut steaks around. The pricing point is very reasonable for the quality of the experience and food. Even my picky husband is impressed with their attentiveness and quality each visit. i ordered sweet tea and it came unsweet then i asked for sweet tea and it didn't come for 20 minutes and then they took my order and then came back later and said they didn't take it. i waited 2 hours almost for my food and i got cold crusty chicken and warm fruit. i'm disappointed. We decided to give them a try again after several mediocre prior experiences. We were very surprised at the improvement and experience. Specifically, the Victoria Filet was perfectly prepared and tasted fresh and worth the price. The lobster tail, although small, was not overcooked. Very good service. Very good food. I had the ribeye medium rare (prepared perfectly) with mixed veggies and side of steakhouse Mac-n-cheese. The veggies were steamed, a too done for my liking, but still tasted good. I like a little crisp left to them and these were kinda mushy. The Mac was really good. Like really good....very cheesy, not baked too long, perfect. The ribeye was a good steak, not the best I've ever had but it was good. Perfect medium rare, seasoned well, and a nice thick cut. A Tale of Two Managers I know I have eaten at this Outback probably a dozen times or more when I'm in Tulsa, but I can't remember it being exceptionally good or bad, but probably consistent. The fact that I haven't left a review before helps confirm that. On this five night trip to Tulsa, I ate there four times, with mixed results. My normal dinner is a 6 ounce Outback Sirloin, medium rare with extra seasoning, salad with ranch, and steamed broccoli. On the first night, my steak came out with virtually NO seasoning. I tried a couple bites just to make sure. No seasoning. So I sent it back. They returned it pretty quickly seasoned and re-seared. It was a bit past medium rare now and the seasoning was only slightly more than what I would consider regular seasoning. I didn't want it cooked even more, so I went ahead and ate it. Service and the broccoli was good. My server was Cort. On the second night, things went from bad to worse, then to excellent. My steak came out wood grilled with no extra seasoning, so I sent it back. The manager, Jessie, brought the replacement out and asked me to cut into it. I did, and it was between medium and medium well (not medium rare like I ordered) and it was obvious that it was right off the grill, so it was still cooking. I'll usually accept medium and sometimes medium well, but I knew that in a couple minutes this one was going to be well done. It was already hard and dry. (I posted a picture below -- it did become medium well to well done within a few minutes.) So I sent it back. Jessie stormed off, obviously upset. Everyone else was already done with their meals. It took a while for the third steak to come out. It was cooked right. Jessie had a major attitude and was very obviously put out. Extremely unprofessional for a manager. The bill came (before my third steak even came out), and we were overcharged on one item. (There was also NO compensation for any of the problems. I hadn't asked for anything, but for the level of problems we had, something should have been done.) There was no way I was talking with Jessie again, so I asked our server Ronnie if there were any other managers and how they ranked in authority. The only other manager there was on the same level with Jessie. The GM wasn't there. I was hesitant to talk with the other manager since they were on the same level and most of my issue was with the attitude. The other manager, Deena, came over to talk with me. I explained everything that had happened, and she was very apologetic and empathetic. Her focus was on understanding what went wrong so that training could be done to improve future experiences. She offered to get us a free dessert, which I declined. I just wanted the overcharge corrected and for a chance to talk to the GM about the attitude from Jessie. Deena took the bill, I thought to correct it. A little while later she came back, brought a dessert, completely comped my meal, and gave me a Tuck Away card to apply towards a future meal. She went well beyond what was expected and showed that she really cared. Before we left, the GM (Jack) arrived and came over to talk to us. I explained everything again, and let him know how good Dina had taken care of us and how the service from our waiter (Ronnie) was actually VERY good. He told us that our waiter had only been working there for a week, and he only had about a month of waiter experience before that. We were floored. All four of us thought he had been there a LONG time. He was that good. Great hire. The GM was very friendly and personable, and was sincerely interested in our experience and was happy that Deena had taken such good care of us. So that's the tale of two managers. One who had a major attitude. If I had only talked to her, I would have left a 1-Star Review. She was unhelpful and rude. The second was empathetic, friendly and helpful. She made things right. BEYOND right. After leaving, I felt like they would take care of me good if I returned. So I did, the next night. There was a 20 minute wait to be seated. Once we were seated, nobody came to our table. After 10 minutes had passed, I went and asked at the reception area for a manager to come out. A few minutes later, one came over and said he would get our server over there right away. Our server came over and explained that she didn't realize it was her table. We knew what we wanted, so we ordered before she left. She brought bread over. It was cold and unappetizing. My son is not the least bit discerning when it comes to food (he'll eat anything), but even he didn't eat it. So we sat, waiting for salad. And waited. The couple sitting behind me (who was seated about 5 minutes after we were) received their entree. And we still hadn't had anything but cold bread. Salad finally came after 30 minutes. Entree about a minute later. They comped the meal. Fourth meal (Cort again) was perfect. Such a mixed bag. read more

I love Outback. But not this one so much. The filet was cooked perfectly. The sweet potato was dwlicious,but very small. It was the size of a baseball, and that is being generous. Usually, the potatoes are almost football sized. The asparagus was horrible. A 2 x 4 would have been easier to chew. The only reason I gave this location 2 stars was the bartender. We just left your location at 47th and S Yale. We had just left your 71st St. location because we couldn't get waited on and the hostess was rude and no help ( review on Yelp around 2:30 pm) I was so pleased with the service and the food was awesome. We eat at Outback quite often but at the location on S Riverside Parkway and love going there so after a bad experience at 71st St we went over to 47 th st and Sheridan. After awhile your manager stopped by to check on us, what a cheerful and pleasant person! Her name is Nicole, what a ray of sunshine! Our server was wonderful also, wish I had gotten her name! As a chain restaurant Outback upholds their quality standard fairly well. After several visits to this location the Bloomin' Onion is consistently cooked well and the prices are on par with other Outback locations (not great, but acceptable). I fail to share in the laude heaped upon this location for their steaks and service. For their steaks, you could easily have a better seasoned/quality cut of meat from a Longhorn Steakhouse (if you're using a chain). As to service, every time we've been to this location the servers seem very attentive to the larger parties (3+), but seem to mostly overlook my wife and I. On every occasion they have left long gaps of time (5-10mins) before taking our order, after we have clearly put our menus away. When they do take our order the staff is friendly, but that does little to make you feel better after watching them attentively serve larger parties (3+) while you wait to order your food. On a scale of horrible to outstanding, it's a solid "meh." read more

I ordered dinner with their new delivery option. I ordered soup and salad and a kids macaroni and cheese. It has been an hour and I still don't have any food. I called to see what was going on and the phone rang and then eventually stopped without anyone picking up. I called back and I was on hold for 10 minutes before the manager said she's going to bring my order because the delivery driver got lost. If the delivery driver is lost with my food how are you going to deliver it for me?! She was very unapologetic and didn't seem to understand or care why I was upset. I live 5 minutes from the restaurant. I will not be ordering from this restaurant again especially since it's a $4 fee.
