My man was craving prime rib, we were going to go to Charleston's but their prime rib was not available until 4pm today. So called ahead to a few places and decided on Outback Steakhouse since we were told it was available. When seated to our surprise we were told it was NOT available yet. As we wrapped our heads around that trying to decide what to get our server behind the scenes was ever so attentive and brought it up to the manager Steve who was able to some how accommodate our request. It was such great service! Being that it was an early New Years Eve celebration dinner for us since my man has to work tonight it was so appreciated of the way they handled the matter. Sometimes going above and beyond service is not realized in the moment, but for us it was! We enjoyed hot bread, salads, prime rib & steak medallions. Our dining experience last night started out rocky -- to say the least. We stood forever to be seated, but finally someone came up to greet and seat us. Then our waiter took what seemed like forever to bring our waters and take our drink orders. Then two simple entree salads took a full half-hour to make their way to our table. I complained -- AND I NEVER COMPLAIN. (No, really. I am one of those meek and mild types from whom you never hear a peep.) A very kind and helpful manager came over and took care of us. (He even went so far as to comp our meals.) I appreciated his care and concern, and will eat here again. I hope to be blown away by my next dining experience here and to raise my Yelp rating from a pleasant four stars to a stellar five. Hostess greeted us as we walked into the restaurant and we got seated immediately. The place was fairly busy and the waitress was able to get our drink orders fairly quickly and we had an adequate time to look over the menu before ordering. The wife ordered pork chops and I had the steak and grilled shrimp. Food was cooked correctly and hot, the only complaint I had was the shrimp were small for the amount they cost. I am nostalgic when it comes to Outback. In the 90s OKC, my grandma would take me to Outback as a "Fancy Dinner". We would split a Bloomin' Onion, and then order two Mad Maxes (what they used to call their bacon cheeseburger). When I went to college, I realized I should start ordering steak at this place and that led to the discovery of so many things (the salad! the Wallaby Darned! CHEESE FRIES!!) Now, as a wife and mother and lover of all things 2018 OKC, I find myself underwhelmed at this place that used to bring me so much joy. The food is now mediocre, and I had the unfortunate timing of dining at this location during a remodel. I'm not saying I'll never go back-but this won't be at the top of my list ever again, either. We went for an early dinner at 3:00. The place was empty, maybe 5 total tables eating. Got seated right away but no server for a good 10 minutes! At that point, another couple is seated a few booths away from us and 5 more minutes go by before a server comes and goes right to the couple that was seated after us. We left and went to BJ's where we were treated like they appreciated that we were spending our money with them. Well , we were coming through Norman and stopped at a motel on Friday night and decided to walk here. We checked out the reviews on Yelp and were nervous but since the Outback near us in Iowa closed we decided to try it anyway. The place was crazy busy but we only waited 14 minutes to get in. We had the Gold Coast Shrimp and it was excellent. Next came wedge salads and they were very good. MY Wife and I both had Fillets and they were cooked and seasoned to perfection. Were they prime grade dry aged steaks ? Nope . But a fantastic value. And Pierce our waiter did an excellent job. I am a critical food reviewer who only buys and prepares USDA prime grade beef at home. We are wondering frankly about the expectations of some of the negative reviewers of this place. If it was bad I'd jump right on the band wagon but its actually very well run for a steakhouse at this price point. read more

That server went to get another server to go get our server, who decided to take his break rather than do his job. Eventually someone took our drink order, but when they were delivered they were wrong. Food was average, steak was on the cold side. It was tough and well done. I was so disappointed. The fries were dried out and the blooming onion was the worst we've ever had. I hate spending the $$ we spend and then having a bad meal. Great staff. We came in late with a large group and they were awesome. Primary servers did a great job but everyone there helped with drinks, delivering food, etc. That doesn't happen if you don't have great management and people working there. I was actually excited to try the big australia sirloin. Our table ordered 2 of those, both requested to be cooked medium, both received medium-well and dry with lots of gristle. I am visiting from Vermont for my sister's birthday however I lived in Southern Oregon for 20 years and Outback was a favorite. My husband and I had a fine dining restaurant for years. I want to commend Ricky, our waiter last night for his exemplary service. We were a group of 8 for a surprise party and he was totally on top of it. The best part was ability to give us individual checks even splitting mine with my other sister. He picked up 8 cc and returned every one to the right person in a timely fashion. For dinner I've always had great service and great food. I like ordering surf n turf plates with the steak grill finished. Steaks usually come cooked as ordered doneness wise. They did away with bus staff so during peak hours your server may seem inattentive because they're busy doing a bus boys job! We ate lunch here once and it was like everyone just got out of bed. We came in at 11:30 (30 min after opening) and nothing was ready to go. Extremely long wait time for food to come out. My soup came out cold. (Really?? After we waited that long for it to come out.) I'm glad I didn't have anywhere I needed to be anytime soon. They kept apologizing over and over again. I don't want sorry, I want food! Lol.
