While driving past this establishment, someone asked how is this still in business? My unscripted response was "boomer night out!" Since then, this has become a colloquial phrase used with my friends and we decided to check it out to see what the fuss was all about. Boomer night out and Outback Steakhouse did not disappoint! I highly recommend buying discounted Outback Steakhouse gift cards from Costco to save some money because who can afford to pay full price (in this economy)! The restaurant was busy but the staff were accommodating to my group of 10+ and the food was hot and fresh, the cocktails were nicely priced (although lighter on the alcohol).

    Raw "medium well" chopped steak
    Amy M.

Went for lunch today at this location with I have been to several time food and service is hit of miss. Today at lunch I ordered the chopped steak medium. When delivered to the table it had red juices on the plate and a raw center . The waitress didn't even apologize just took it back and said they will cook it medium well. No apologies nothing. Took over 30 minutes for them to bring it back with to be ordered medium well. We asked for it to go so it came out packaged up. Our bill on the kiosk we were charged for the second cook and was told to ignore it. The manager came to our table and said that medium cook was a hot pink center and for hamburger that means an uncooked center. So get home and the well done is the exact same cook raw pink center. Very disappointed.

Solid Experience with Great Service, Slight Miss on the Steak I recently dined at Outback Steakhouse and ordered the filet mignon, requesting it be cooked medium plus since my last "medium" order was closer to rare. Unfortunately, the steak came out more medium well this time, which wasn't what I had hoped for. I didn't send it back because I didn't want to disrupt the flow of the evening, so I did my best to enjoy it. On a positive note, the wedge side salad and sweet potato were absolutely delicious--fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. What really made the visit worthwhile, though, was the excellent service from Akine and Shareef. They were both attentive, friendly, and professional, which helped balance out the slight disappointment with the steak but the ambiance was on point with the vibe. My only suggestion would be to ensure the kitchen staff understands the nuance between medium plus and medium well. It's a small but important distinction--especially when dealing with premium cuts like filet mignon. All in all, it was a good experience. With just a bit more attention to steak temperature, it would've been perfect!

Food was GREAT. Full of seasoning but not too much. Easy to customize my order (picky eater). The waiters were friendly & attentive. & understood dining with kids (HUGE plus!).

Always have pretty reliable experiences at Outback. You know what you're getting and what to expect. The bloomin onion was great as always. the caesar salad was delicious, and they gave us extra dressing. My friend's steak came out pretty rare and was cut wrong, and they offered to make his whole meal over, which was so nice of them. Overall it was a peaceful dinner and everything was delicious!

Celebrated a family member's birthday - we chose this location- one of our favorite steak houses - Excellent service & hospitality-- juicy tender ribeye entrees with a side salad - baked potato- so much food - a to go tray was necessary. Even though it was busy - our server was friendly & efficient- plus hardly no wait time for our food. Different team members brought our food and whatever else we requested. The hostess greeted us warmly and opened the door for us. The parking lot is level - easy access from vehicle to the entrance- A great location situated in Durham NC - close to Chapel Hill & major interstates and routes

Took my niece here for a quick date and we had a good time. Service was top notched but baby that food was not! My niece enjoyed her pasta but my shrimp was cold, my steak had no flavor and those Brussels sprouts tasted weird.

My friend and I came on a weeknight for dessert. He was hyping up Outback's brownie sundae and I knew I had to give it a try. We ordered the Chocolate Thunder from Down Under and it's honestly one of the best brownie sundaes I've ever had. The brownie was warm and rich, and tasted amazing with the pecans, vanilla ice cream, and whipped cream! Overall, we had a great experience and will definitely return for our next dessert run!

    I thought salads were green!

Not the usual good service here. No refill on the tea. The steak itself was quite good.

They are located right beside the DPAC so when the shows let out people go over to get food. We were able to find a spot at the bar. The ambiance was nice. The bar was fully stocked. The service was great. We had Alice, who was very busy making drinks but was very attentive to us. We ordered the scallop ceviche which was very flavorful. You could taste the orange juice it was soaked in. The scallops were fresh and all of the flavors complemented each other well. We also got the Caesar salad, the ribeye and the crispy pork ribs. My least favorite was the Caesar salad. The capers on top were a nice addition but the salad dressing was extremely bland. It didn't taste like Caesar at all. It gave more of a creamy Parmesan that lacked flavor. Would not recommend. My favorite dish was the crispy ribs. They were tender and full of flavor. A lil bit on the salty side with a hint of sugar. The kimchi was a nice addition. It was spicy but delicious so beware! The ribeye was good. I would've liked maybe a garlic butter on top but overall I would give it an 8. For dessert we had the creme brûlée which was simple but delicious. You could see and taste the vanilla bean throughout the dish.

Even a month ahead of time, so good luck). But don't let it stop you if you don't have reservations, just be smart. We've learned to arrive when they open, because the bar and the high-tops in the bar area are all first-come first serve. There are times we've had just drinks and an appetizer/rolls or dessert. Other times we've gone for a full meal. Most recent visit was Saturday before an 8pm show at DPAC, and I heard words that I've never heard before that made me love them even more. "We will hold your leftovers for you until after the show". Uh, big heart for me! And smart for them, because we would not have ordered dessert otherwise, and I would have been sad to have had to waste even a bite of my fave, the roast chicken. Husband declared his "wedge" salad and filet to be perfection, and nothing makes him happier than a couple Dirty Durham's, while I can always find a nice glass of wine. We tried the Apple Crisp for dessert along with a couple coffees, and it was the perfect ending to a wonderful meal. The Service was also terrific, as always. Always. And sure enough, my leftovers were bagged up and ready and waiting when we got out of the show. Just when I thought they couldn't possibly get better, they did.

But this is where my MiL wanted to go for Mothers Day so my husband and I took her, along with my brother and sister in law. We got there at 11:30 on Sunday and it was pretty busy but not packed yet. Before we even entered the building, an employee handed the women in the party each a rose! What a lovely touch. My MiL is disabled and so we got her situated in the waiting area before going up and adding our party to the wait list. The hostess immediately got us a table and we were seated right away, which was also very nice. Our server was Sierra and she was delightful. She brought us SO MUCH bread and it was so deliciously warm. I try not to eat the bread before the meal so I can eat most of my entree, but this bread is amazing. And with the cinnamon honey butter?! I forgot how yummy it was. All of my in-laws got the smothered chicken with loaded sweet potatoes and house salads as their sides. My husband and I got ribeye's (cooked medium). I got my with a house salad and loaded mased potatoes, while my husband got a Caesar salad and baked potato with butter. Y'all, their salads are really, really good. They were fresh and the croutons are phenomenal. We didn't wait too long for our food which was impressive since it was so busy. Sierra waited for us to cut into our steaks before she walked away. They were cooked perfectly. I thought they were seasoned really well but my husband said his could have used more salt. My mashed potatoes were tasty but my husband wished is baked potato was warmer...he said it wasn't even melting all the butter. The smothered chicken looked good as well. The manager came over at least twice during our meal to make sure that everything was ok. When Sierra brought us our check, she told us there was no rush, which was kind but we left as soon as we could since they were packed. I'm not sure if they are under new management, but the service we received exceeded expectations. I was very pleased. My only complaint (which there is really nothing they can do about this) is the noise level. It was so loud that it was difficult to hear my soft spoken MiL. All components in their house salad is great. Everything is awesome! The prime rib is tender and has such good flavor. Their mac n' cheese is the way to go. Their recipe is constantly changing. Like what I previously said, something is different every time you come to Angus Barn. The chocolate chess pie is the best I've had. This is a MUST when dining at Angus Barn. You HAVE to get the chocolate chess pie. The service is some of the best in the restaurant business and all do a great job at explaining things. So kind and professional! Once again, if you're around Raleigh and don't come to Angus Barn, you are missing out. I highly recommend you come. So good!

Food: 3 Service: 5…read moreAmbience: 4 Date/Time: 8/16/2026 5:40pm Order: Bacon wrapped filets, baked potato, stuffed potato and fries Crowd: Dining area 75% full, parking lot filled to the back of the lot I know, I know, Angus Barn is known all over, and at one time many MANY years ago when I went, it was pretty awesome all around. This time, maybe my expectations were too high, but it didn't strike me the same was as it did over 30 years ago. First off, I want to say that service from Andy was excellent! He was very attentive and actually interacted with us. We were celebrating my dad's birthday and Andy was really making it a big thing for him. He kept our glasses full and came around to check on us often. When he brought us the filets, he actually had us cut it down the middle and had a flashlight to allow us to see if it was cooked right. The ambience was still the same as before but more decoration with a lot more space and a lot more tables. It was a little on the noisy side but it was also almost full which I thought surprising on a Sunday. I think the wood walls helped absorb the sound better. We were seated immediately toward the back even being 20 minutes early of the reservation. The tables have a blue checkered tablecloth (used to be red checkers back in the day) and most everything was wood (walls, floor, etc). As you approach the front door, the covered area out front has seating and a bar with valet parking at the entrance to the covered porch. As you enter the main entrance, a country store counter is on the left, selling Angus Barn items, along with the restrooms further down. Straight ahead is the host station and then it opens up to the huge dining area. Wherever there are steps, there's also a ramp for handicap access. The food was a little disappointing to me. When I order a filet, I do expect it to melt in my mouth without much cutting required, and to have a natural taste to it as I don't usually put any sauce on it. This one comes with a red wine sauce which I was trying to use to get some taste in the meat but didn't like it. The bacon was sitting on top burnt to a crisp. The baked potato was good but the Caesar salad with homemade dressing didn't hit the spot for me. However, the chocolate cheesecake was very good! Also, the cheese/crackers/olives/etc starters waiting for us at the table was nice (used to have this at a big table at the front door where you wait for your seat but I'm sure COVID stopped that). Overall, the food was just OK, but not what I'd easily come back and pay the price for the filet. I'm not sure if maybe they hired a new cook and we got him/her or if this is just how they prepare their filets. I was going to give it a 4, but then asked myself if I were to look at a 4, wouldn't I expect the author to return... I probably won't return....... unless someone took me and let me order the chocolate cheesecake :-)
