Deliciousness - 5/5 Happiness - 5/5 I went here with a big group and never had such a good time at an Outback as I did here. On Valentine's Day my mom, nieces and I decided to go out for dinner, we walked into Outback and thankfully they had a table! Our server was great, food delicious and ambiance was very welcoming. We paid and then as we were leaving my niece said she lost her ring. We tried searching for it but couldn't find it. I mentioned to the host that it was lost and she took my information down, we left and as we were in the parking lot another employee comes out and says "We found the ring!" Like it was batter-dipped with the onion and deep-fried into a crispy follicle fossil. A dark, wiry hair, locked in like some culinary time capsule no one asked for. We showed it to our waiter--who, to be fair, was the only semi-decent human in the entire building. He looked mortified. He took it to the manager. I assumed, foolishly, that basic decency or even a perfunctory "sorry about the hairball you almost ate" would follow. Instead? Crickets. No manager ever came by. No apology. No comped appetizer. What did I get instead? An extra 3 ounces of wine, courtesy of our poor waiter, who clearly knew I was one twitch away from setting the bar on fire with my mind. That wine? Absolutely necessary. A Band-Aid for my dignity. And probably more effective than whatever hygiene protocols they've got going on in the kitchen. I'm not sure why the service here is so terrible. We went once, and it was bad so I complained. Tried it again last night, and just bad! We got take out. We had to call 3 times before we find out when the order would be ready. Then we got the food home, my soup was all watery, salad looked pathetic (about 10 pieces of lettuce). We've been going to this Outback since I was in middle school. I think the food used to be better way back when, but it's not terrible now. Plenty of parking in this shopping center. As for the food.....The wings are always good. House salad with either ranch or blue cheese. And then of course a steak. I went with the surf and turf option and was pleased with what I ordered. This Outback is a mainstay of the Clifton area. We popped in tonight and the service was prompt. I dropped two stars due to some issues I had with the dishes: the mixed veggies were kind of pitiful. From out doors it looks closed. Very quiet and dark inside. There was one other party. Bartender Cooper was eager to talk, make our drinks and take our order. We started off with the appetizers Sydney Shrooms and Ahi Tuna. Shrooms were tasty. The tuna was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. Nice size portions. Blackberry Martinis were delicious, certainly could not have just one. Cooper was very attentive, never letting our drinks get too low, lol Our steaks a sirloin and ribeye were grilled medium rare to our likings, seasoning perfectly and very juicy. Steak was pretty juicy, fairly decent, I didn't expect anything less or more. The steak was so big I couldn't finish it myself. This was split between 3 people and we still had leftovers!! I have never had a problem with any Outback's customer service, and I am very picky with a restaurant's service. I'm giving this Outback Steakhouse a two based on the fact that the Peter Dittamo is still the owner. Our Togo food was decent. I have lived in this community for over ten years and vowed to never return to this Outback after several instances I had with this guy. Once the Vienna closed, I drove to other outback's instead. I did do a curbside order this week and it was ok. A few missing sauces, sour cream were missing. Veggies are always overcooked and the salad was not fresh like it normally is. I didn't want the hassle of coming in and being faced with anyone. There are several conversation in community boards regarding Peter and his unfair and racial bias behavior towards people of color. We all know it's there. Some staff know it and can only deal with it for a short amount of time before leaving. I hope that this is something that has been looked into over the years because many of us business professionals avoid coming to this particular location for that reason alone. I barely see people even eating in this Outback anymore which says a lot. read more

Food was fresh and drinks were perfect music was not too loud and the noise level was reasonable since it was not crowded yet on a Saturday evening. PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE POST AND SHARE. In shock and disbelief that Peter Dittamo is the owner at Outback Steakhouse in Centreville/Clifton, Virginia. Our family went to Outback yesterday, Sunday, February 16th to eat (something we do frequently). Out of courtesy, we wanted to give the restaurant a heads up that 25 people were arriving shortly but that we did not expect to sit together and could be spread out accross the restaurant as individual families. The host told us to wait so he could speak to his manager and when he returned, he stated that there was already a party of 20. We stated we understood and reiterated again that we could be seated as individual families (families of 5, etc). The host went to the manager again and said, "Sorry, our waiters already have 4-5 tables each and you all have to wait an hour to be seated". Meanwhile, many families were still coming in and being steated without hesitation (these families were caucasion). The bulk of our family arrived and the owner, Peter Dittamo, came from the back and said angrily, "Like I said, you all WILL wait until 4, and each table BETTER be on one check!" We then asked, if a family of 4 people arrived, would you assist them? With a smirk on his face, he replied, "They'd have to wait, too". As I said before, caucasian families of 3-5 were immediately being seated at this time. By this point, it was blatant that this was not an issue of being understaffed or overcrowding (judging by the pictures), but something more unfortunate. We were being discriminated against in front of a number of our children. The manager also pointed to one of our children, a 13 year old (who is half black and white but looks fully white) and asked him "Are you with them?" At this point, the children started asking us, "why is he being so mean?" and "why can't we sit down, too?". Mr. Dittamo then told us all to get out of his restaurant. The host turned to us and apologized for his boss's behavior and stated that he didn't know why his boss acted that way. Outback was a family favorite and not only did we enjoy the food, we tip EXTREMELY well. We took our business to Chili's in Manassas, VA and they happily accommodated us with a smile and EXCELLENT service. Patrick, our waiter, served our entire party alone, flawlessly and with a huge smile on his face. As a person of color, I have never been refused service because of the color of my skin until now and I am hurt because of it. There were 4 generations of my family there and we were treated as second class citizens. Personally, I look for other reasons for behavior like this and never look at racism first but unfortunately, this is definitely a clear case of racism. We pray that God opens his heart and delivers him from bitterness so that no other paying customer experience unsavory treatment such as this. For those who are going to play devil's advocate and try to discredit us: 1. We were calm and did not get belligerent 2. We did not at any point try to enforce sitting as a big group 3. The restaurant was half empty 4. Other customers (caucasian families of 3-5) were being seated immediately as they walked in the door. So sad. This was my FAVORITE restaurant. My review stands as nothing has happened but empty words. **** Extremely disappointed with this Outback. We actually decided to skip Texas Roadhouse on the way home in favor of Outback. Outback is always a favorite. This location? I don't think I'd ever go to again. We went on Friday on the way home to Kill some time for the 66 west traffic to lighten up during rush hour. We were sat at a dirty table, literally COVERED in debris including hair and dry leaves. I don't like to make a fuss so I wiped the table off myself. Our server was okay, constantly left while I was mid sentence and never got a manager involved when several issues arose. After the dirty table, our napkins were covered in what looked like animal hair, it was pretty gross. My water glass was filthy, crumbs floated all through. I asked for a new one and thankfully got a cleaner glass. Next my $11 glass of wine was stale and had cork pieces floating in it. I mentioned it to the server and got an "I'm sorry about that," but no replacement glass or wine. Which honestly was pretty disappointing, I choked it down because it would have been a $11 waste otherwise. The appetizer of cheese fries was okay but way smaller than the full we ordered and were charged for. Entrees were a mess. My husbands ribs were okay but really tough to chew and cut through. My salad was half inedible. Huge hunks of brown and wilted lettuce, definitely not worth the added price. The sirloin was extremely over seasoned with pepper like it was the only spice they had left. Not even my 17 year old son (who is a human garbage disposal would eat it.), my carrots were cut extremely thick and raw, and the "fully loaded" baked potato was tiny and barely had any cheese or bacon on it. It was so bad that we decided not to order anything for the kids to take home because we didn't want to waste anymore money. I never got the sauce containers I asked 3 times for and the meal (including tip) ended up being a waste of $92. It honestly, start to finish one of the worst meals of my life. I honestly thought that I would never find myself at another Outback due to various service issues. This was NOT the case at this Clifton location. We had $50 in gift cards to use and we happen to be in Clifton. I did a call ahead but there was no wait at noon on a weekend. The staff was fantastic! The host and our wait staff were very attentive. Nothing went unnoticed. The food was brought out by food runners. We never had to wait for a drink refill or our dishes. When we are dining at a steak place we opted for steak! Our meat consisted of my hubby's all time fave: the Outback sirloin not found at finer steakhouses. I always get a Ribeye and this cut at this location was melting in my mouth! The blooming onion did not disappoint with its greasy feel but that's why we order it! Way to represent... That being said, we ordered from DoorDash and there was no ability to make a special request, like extra sauce for the Coconut Shrimp or onions added to Cesar salad or a request for honey butter. I called store 5 times and used both extensions to the ToGo room and reservation line. It rang all 5 times until it hung up on me. So now I have to pay Outback prices, delivery fee, and tip the driver for unsatisfactory food. As a former Outbacker and frequent customer who participates in the rewards program, this is unacceptable. Props to the DoorDash lady who read our delivery instruction and must have asked for honey butter and onions. Not even going to fault her for no extra marmalade. Basic Outback Steakhouse: So stick with the steak. Came in for a late Saturday lunch with the family, and were immediately seated. We ordered drinks and the basic blooming onion. The onion was not overly greasy, and one of the better ones we have had. The rest of our dinner came, but sadly no oil cans of Fosters Bitter... and my Salmon was not fresh. But I wasn't too hungry - so I didn't bother to send it back and settled for a Fosters draft. Otherwise, I would have sent the fish back. Overall, the meal pleased all - but was not spectacular. My partner's steak was fine, medium rare, but I made the mistake of ordering medium and got a thin, 1/4" steak that was spread out on the plate. Nasty, overcooked and over salted. The salad had wilted greens, for which I do not penalize in the review as I know about the supply issues. The waitress was trying hard. Good service, except that she served a couple that came in ten minutes after us, first. So, one good dinner (wilted salad greens though) and one bad dinner.
