I've been coming to Bonefish Grill since I was a kid. Even though it's a chain restaurant, it's one that I consistently return to. It's comfortable, reliable, and I always leave satisfied. My go-to order is the Parmesan Crusted Rainbow Trout. It's perfectly seasoned every time and I absolutely love the crispy parmesan crust. It adds a nice texture to the tender fish. It comes with a lemon butter sauce that pairs great with the trout and really ties the whole dish together. Of course, I can never skip the Bang Bang Shrimp. You truly can't go wrong with it. We ate here on a Saturday evening and the amount of customers seems to have increased; but the kitchen seems unable to keep up with this increased volume of customers. On this occasion, we were just four adults eating together and the meals did not come out at the same time. The recommenced "risotto" was more like warm glue than what risotto is supposed to be. Went to Bonefish over the weekend to celebrate my dad's birthday. I don't go often to Bonefish, but when I do go, I always enjoy it. I'm not much of a seafood person but I really do love their Salmon entree, Bang Bang Shrimp, & Calamari. I had their Salmon entree which was so delicious with the lemon butter sauce. My husband had filet and for one of his sides he ordered the kung pao brussel sprouts and omg, they were so delicious. I was obsessed and still thinking about how good they were. Our visit started off poorly with our waitress, Fabiola M. She greeted us and asked if we wanted drinks, but only acknowledged my friend. After taking his order, she walked away without asking for mine. I flagged down another server and requested the manager, Samantha. She was pleasant, attentive, quick, and helpful, and she addressed both of us with courtesy. We went on Saturday night for a semi-early dinner (5:45/6pm) and were seated immediately. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive. We got the bang bang shrimp app to start and the tropic heat martini & smoked old fashioned. The drinks and app were great - can't go wrong with bang bang shrimp! I got the Mahi Mahi and shrimp for dinner and it was delicious. I've never gotten Mahi Mahi before and I really enjoyed it. Everything came out very quickly. I got the feeling that the staff was a little bored because there weren't a ton of guests at the restaurant for a Saturday night. We went to Bonefish in Alexandria/Kingstowne on Friday, March 29th at 2:00pm. There were very few people there, however the service was not adequate. My husband and I ordered a drink, appetizer, and entree. We never received our bread until after our appetizer. Our drinks didn't arrive until after our entree. We had crab soup that was barely warm. I ordered a cup, my husband ordered a bowl and we both received the same amount, his was in a bowl, however the amount was the same as a cup but cost more. When we got there, we were disappointed that they didn't have HH food items, only drinks. I did order the margarita and it was awesome! I got two while my partner got red wine. I loved the margarita so much that the bartender let my partner take a pictures of the alcohol bottles to use. You know if you don't write it down or take a picture, one will forget. LOL. Bang bang shrimp is one of those dishes I get cravings for when I want to eat somewhere casual, comfortable, reasonable and tasty.  Bonefish Grill always fits the bill.  The dining area is spacious and the service is friendly.  Though the bang bang shrimp are my favorite, there are many good items on the menu.  We like to order a bunch of small plates rather than an entrée and even so, the servings are generous and we never go away hungry. It's also nice that they will bring by nice hot bread and herbed olive oil for dipping as well as extra chips if you run out with your appetizer.  The broth for the mussels Josephine also made for very good dipping.  We really liked those as well as the imperial dip which had more lump seafood in it than we would have expected.  Nice and hot and gooey and yummy.    The tempura crunch sashimi tuna was good but we might try something different the next time we go.  For three people with hearty appetites, three appetizers was a great amount for lunch.  It is hard to beat Bonefish for casual and affordable seafood. read more

We came as a group of 5 to celebrate three March birthdays on a Saturday night, and to support local business before restrictions kicked in for the coronavirus that will force restaurants to shut down. We were greeted by our friendly server, who asked which of us were celebrating. We ordered some cocktails: pineappletinis and a cucumber margarita. Both cocktails were very refreshing and we ordered seconds of each. Our server brought some bread to the table. We got an order of Bang Bang Shrimp appetizer to share. The dining room was not as crowded as a usual Saturday night would typically bring, but we were far from the only patrons there. The bar was more on the emptier side, which was a little surprising. Yet it took a bit of a while for our bar orders to make it to the table, so you'd think the bar was slammed with orders. Perhaps they were short-staffed. Dinner was very good. I had the pecan-parmesan crusted rainbow trout with a side of au gratin potatoes and roasted Brussel sprouts and ham (interesting combo I'd not seen before). Friends had the filet, the ahi tuna steak, fish tacos, and the mahi mahi. Our vegetarian friend was able to get the Brussels sprouts without the ham. Everything came out accurate, was cooked well and as described, to the temps we ordered. No complaints. After dinner, the manager came out and presented three cards containing a gift card for a free Bang Bang Shrimp appetizer on our next visit and a box of four chocolate truffles in foil. They asked us what desserts we three birthday ladies wanted, and they were brought out to the table with single candles in each. It was very nice touch. We had one free entree coupon that was sent via mail that we applied to the bill, and the desserts were generously comped as well, but our group tipped our server well for not only a great celebratory meal but also to hopefully give him a little extra to live on in the coming weeks in the face of this increasingly difficult economy impacted by the pandemic. The delivery was fast and they got my order right perfectly. Highly recommend. Bang Bang Shrimp: these might be my favorite thing on the menu. They are packed with flavor and have a nice balance of creaminess and crunch. I would order these time and time again. The flavor is memorable and not spicy while the flour tortillas also add to the nice flavor profile. I find myself craving these all the time. Chicken nuggets and macaroni: the macaroni tastes as you would expect any macaroni dish to taste. It's creamy, incredibly cheesy and satisfying. The chicken nuggets were ordinary, but- it was to be expected. They were good though. Pumpkin spice cake: this was an interesting take on a classic chocolate lava cake. Instead it was filled with a sweet cream cheese and topped with some powdered sugar. This was okay compared to the rest of the food. Although presentation wise, it was very pleasing. Did they go right from the fryer to the container? Incredibly disappointed that Bonefish thinks that serving food this way is acceptable. The latter had an abundance of fresh strawberries with a light glaze, but the strawberries could have been more ripe. The 'biscuits' that came with were a little hard and crumbly, and I wished there was a better pairing. Our server checked in with us often, and he always made sure that we had everything we needed. I have never had a bad meal at Bonefish... until now. I was super excited to visit Bonefish (first time since Corona) and now wish I had just gone somewhere else. I ordered one of the specials of the day: Filet & Shrimp Skewers and chose the spinach and garlic mashed potatoes as the sides. Upon bringing out my meal, I noticed the chimichurri was missing (it was advertised on the menu) so I told the server. He first told me it doesn't come with it, but I reminded him it was listed on the menu if he'd like to take a look. He then went to the kitchen to retrieve the Chimichurri. While waiting I decided to take a bite of my potatoes and GROSS!! They tasted like powdered potatoes.. definitely a weird aftertaste and no garlic flavor at all. On to the spinach..BLAND. I think they were steamed with water and that's it.. no seasoning or anything. Now to the filet... like wow what a horrible steak. First off, it was overcooked so it was tough and dry. There was absolutely no seasoning and now that I think about it, I don't think it was a filet. When the waiter finally came back with my Chimichurri, I showed him the steak and he did agree that it looked rather dry.. so he told the kitchen to make me a new one. It took about 10-15 mins before my new steak came out.. in this time the rest of the meal had went cold and I was over it. My friend had also finished his meal. The steak did look better and had a better texture but it still wasn't good. I drowned everything in Chimichurri hoping to save some part of the meal but it didn't work, so I stopped eating. When it was time for the check, our server asked if we would like a dessert because of the time I had to wait for my meal?!? I politely told him no thank you...and he kept pressing the matter. I told him I'm not a dessert person and that it was okay. You would think they would offer a discount after a horrible meal and the waiting times, but nope... just dessert. Oh yeah, and the bill was over $100. Aside from that, My friend said the lobster thermidor gnocchi was decent and we also enjoyed the Calimari. Bonefish has become very average to me. I used to love coming here with my family (5-6 years ago). Our favorite was the Bang Bang Shrimp, and it's still my favorite, but I feel like they've change their recipe so it's not like I remembered. Their service is still impeccable as always! The servers are so friendly and attentive. The thing I was most disappointed in is the Calamari. It was mostly fried vegetables instead of squid, and their sauce was more asian, not your typical marinara. That is something that I don't like about Bonefish: they've been making things more asian-inspired/fusion. I would like it if it actually tasted good. We also used to love their Mussels. They're still good, but I feel like they're putting less and less sauce. We got to try the Cod Fish & Chips, and they were good. The fish and the fries were super crispy! I have been to other Bonefish Grill locations before and each experience has been amazing. We placed our reservation online - table for 2 at 6pm. My boyfriend and I were running a bit late, so I called and we had no problem pushing it back an hour. When we arrived, the restaurant was pretty busy, but we were seated almost immediately. We received complimentary bread and we ordered the Imperial Dip as our appetizer. It was so delicious, there was absolutely nothing left on the plate. My boyfriend ordered the Georges Bank Scallops & Shrimp with Pan Asian Sauce. His sides included the Garlic Whipped Potatoes and upgraded the Mac n' Cheese to Bacon Mac n' Cheese. He loved the Pan Asian Sauce with the seafood. He was craving that sweet a savory taste and that was exactly what he got. The Garlic Whipped Potatoes were straightforward. The waitress accidentally placed his order as regular Mac n' Cheese instead of the Bacon Mac n' Cheese. She generously let us keep both without added cost. He says his meal is definitely more than enough for one person and he needed to take the leftovers home. I ordered the Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos with a side of Broccoli. This was the perfect size for one person. I'm not usually a taco person, but this is my go-to when I come here. The sauce of the shrimp has the perfect kick and creaminess to it. I've ordered by doordash a few times the past couple of months. Love this place! Food is perfectly cooked, love all the choices of sides and sauce and portion sizes are just right. You likely won't end up with leftovers, but I love that I'm not tempted to eat too much. I'm a big fan of the mahi mahi with mango salsa. Also, if you want a treat, the flourless brownie is great. I don't know what it is, but that appetizer always seems to hit the spot for me. It surprisingly was very good and tasty, I don't know if it was the flower - but it definitely reminded me of my vacation trip to Hawaii.
