My husband and I were on our way home to Raleigh and had to run make a stop at Tractor Supply in Burlington. We decided to grab dinner. Though not impressed with the Yelp score of 3.1, we decided to go anyhow because we wanted steak ;). It was about 9 pm. Upon arrival, Tristan opened the inner door for us and greeted us. He then sat us. Shortly after, Brenda showed up and introduced herself. Our meals were served as ordered. Both our meats were medium rare- my filet and my husband's prime rib. Perfect! All other items were as requested extra crunchy fries, broccoli with some texture and sweet potato with cinnamon. All washed down with wine and our AARP discount ;) Brenda also checked in with us during dinner. We enjoyed our service and meal and we would have given them 5* but both bathrooms needed attention. I'm a firm believer that the condition of your toilets are a reflection of your kitchen so dropped a star. Hopefully, they will pay more attention to this. I also understand that restaurants are dynamic- constantly changing staff, managers, and even cooks. Hence, I focus on reviews by "most current". I came in on a Monday night at 8:40pm. My hotel was right behind it so it was an easy walk. There was Monday night football on, so not empty but not super busy. Maybe 12 people in the bar area. I went to the hostess counter, no one was there. I waited for about two mins, not terrible but a little wait for being fairly empty. Once they came to the counter I asked for a booth by the bar and was seated. About 15 secs after giving me the menu the waitress came to take my drink order. Ordered a beer, she asked if I wanted bread (which I did). She came back in about 90 secs with my beer and bread. I placed my order (steak and shrimp). The beer was good, the bread is decent. The butter was so melted that I couldn't use the knife. My food came out in 12 mins and 53 secs. Not bad, kind of in the middle of fast and slow. The steak was ok, it was a little more done than medium. It was seasoned, but I still needed A1 sauce as it was just so so for flavor. It's outback, I wasn't expecting something amazing. But I can cook a steak better at home than what I got. The coconut shrimp was very tasty, I enjoyed that the most. The fries were cooked well, crispy and hot, not too seasoned but not bland. The asparagus I didn't care for, admittedly I'm a bit picky on my asparagus. I like them thicker and not soggy. These were skinny and soggy, so the worst of both worlds for me. Now some negatives, during my meal I finished my beer. The first time the waitress walked by I didn't see her as she came from my blind side. But then I wanted to see when she would ask me if I wanted another beer. After the first time she walked by three more times and I finally had to raise my hand and ask for another drink. Walking by four times seemed excessive to me. And I had to ask for water. Usually water is brought out automatically. That's a little nit picky but I thought it was worth mentioning. If I stayed at the same hotel. I'd probably come back for convenience. It was tough to rate, I'd probably give the service and food a 2.5. You can't do half ratings. It was probably closer to a 2 than a 3, but I really didn't want to go that low as I'm right at 2.4-2.5. read more

My husband and I ate here on Sunday and we were very disappointed in our entrees. This was our first time eating here in years. The bread was good and my side salad was delicious. Our waitress and the service were great! My husband ordered the Queensland Chicken & Shrimp and I had the Kingsland Steak & Shrimp. It was not good at all and lacked flavor. The sauce was watery, there was no seasoning on the shrimp or the steak. My husband's chicken was seasoned but he still was unhappy with the dish. Toughest I've had in years, oh but it came with a side of potato soup that was so salty no one could eat it. I had not eaten at any Outback in maybe 5 years, but after two days of helping family move into a new house, I felt I had earned a satisfying meal on my drive From Durham to Charlotte. Of course, the warm loaf of bread with softened butter is always a wonderful start. I know the Bloomin' onion would have been an even better start, but that's a little too much for just one person, even with my hefty appetite. The house salad came first and it is just not as good as I remember. A little light on the greens, and a little heavy on the salad dressing. For my entree, I went with the 8 ounce sirloin steak and grilled shrimp. I only got 4 shrimp, but oh well. The remoulade is meant for the shrimp, but it is also a wonderful dipping sauce for the steak. Speaking of which, the steak was very enjoyable, cooked somewhere between medium rare and medium. The mashed potatoes were fine as well, a little steak juice in those did a lot to add flavor. I would probably go with the loaded potato option, but I didn't want to press my luck with work expenses. My family and I decided to order food late night from this location and everything was amazing. Curb side was excellent. The app was easy to navigate. The server for curb side was excellent. He was very pleasant which was made the atmosphere from curb side pick up delightful. We will definitely use this again. I was there on Mother's day. I checked in at the hostess counter and was told an hour and my party of 7 waired outside. We checked on the waitlist after an hour and they said they had us checked in for another hour later. I said I was standing in front of her why would she think i wanted to check in later. I asked for a manager who never came and was there another 10 minutes before we left. I was a regular customer at this restaurant, every 2 weeks or so and I will not go back. They were rude and atrocious and did absolutely nothing to rectify the situation. They also had an air conditioner problem once when we were there that sounded like a train in the restaurant for 10 minutes at a time about every ten minutes. read more

We had a great experience here for my son's 9th birthday. Server was excellent. Food came out in an acceptable amount of time and was cooked pretty close to exactly correct. My steak was a tiny bit under but still good. My sons tenders were dropped as they were being handed off but they brought him new ones with no issue. Outback is your typical major chain steakhouse, so I knew going in that the food would be pretty uniform to other locations. You can't go without ordering a Bloomin' Onion as an appetizer because anything fried tastes good. I also ordered the new sirloin and lobster mac & cheese. The sirloin was seasoned well, but I didn't care for the mac & cheese. It tasted too creamy for my taste. The service here was not good at all. Our server was nice taking our order, but after that we were pretty much ignored on every request we asked for (e.g. small plates, ketchup, refill on soda, etc.). It was not too crowded when we were there and a ton of servers were helping with all the tables (running plates, refilling water, bussing) so we weren't sure what happened with our visit. There are other steakhouses nearby with better service so I probably won't return here. read more

Last time I that I ordered a ribeye steak was 2 1/2 years ago. The rib eye steak was ordered medium rare, it was presented to me as well done, and was very difficult to cut and eat. Tonight giving Outback another chance, I ordered the same ribeye rare, came out medium. The steak had so much grizzle and was difficult to even cut,. We came to town for an out of state soccer tournament and this team at Outback went above and beyond in all aspects to ensure that our group of 40 had a secure reservation and an exceptional dining experience. Special shoutout to the manager Jordan and our server Sean who exceeded all expectations. I also want to recognize the bus boy and other servers who also helped. This team already had a very busy evening and not once did you see or sense any sort of overwhelming. So, we've ordered from here in the past and the food was good, but there were multiple issues with our curb side order tonight and it was to the point that I'm just...annoyed and kind of grossed out. Two issues with the appetizer: first, ranch dressing was missing - Outback ranch is like crack so it was a major disappointment to discover it was missing from the bushman shrooms order; and second, shrooms were mushy, not fully fried, and dripping in oil. However, the icing on the cake was the sticker on the cinnamon croutons for the cinnamon oblivion LOUDLY identifying the enclosed croutons' expiration date...that passed almost a month ago... Honestly, they're friggin croutons and I'd have been none the wiser had the sticker not been attached to the container with the expiry date highlighted in YELLOW, but the fact that the restaurant cares so little as to not even REMOVE the sticker makes me question every quality control standard this restaurant has and does NOT follow. read more

Wow. I have to say of all the outback's I have been to , this location was the best I have seen for food quality, service, overall performance on all counts . I was staying at the Hampton inn next door so walked over to grab a bite. Being alone, I went to the bar and found one last seat and grabbed it. Hannah and Katie ( gosh I hope I got that right)- we're behind the bar but what a great team they made as beer tenders and servicing the whole bar. Got a beer and sat a bit , got another then realized the food I was waiting for I hadn't ordered yet. !! I guess that's a sign. Really - only 2 beers in... So- Ordered the filet (MR )and lobster with mushroom and asparagus as the sides. For $30, this is a great value and the steak was a perfect MR, great clarified butter for the lobster , good crisp asparagus- very nice job! I always get the sautéed but heads up- they now have fried mushrooms. All was spot on and met the owner/Manager ( Tyler - I hope again ), super nice guy, great manager as I watched him assist the team all night . Not one of those managers that sits back, but hands on , there for the team. This is what it's all about. I like it when a chain has great management , a team that seemed to all like their jobs and their teammates , good chef, rare site these days. Even Jade brought me out some blue cheese I like to sprinkle over the steak and all again was a well oiled machine. Thanks guys for a really nice dinner and evening. Ok i normally like a chain far less than an independent restaurant. But it was for a family member's birthday so we went. I was not impressed. The drinks they ordered had to be sent back because they were not properly made. Then the appetizers took a little while to get. Our steaks were not prepared properly as mine was over cooked. I noticed others around me complain as well. Maybe it was an off night or maybe it was because on this day they were short staffed but it was not a positive experience in many ways. I will say our server was super apologetic about everything and brought a manager over who took the drinks off the bill. It was the only reason I gave a second star. I would say they have work to do to get better. Also there was an AC unit that was not working properly so there was this load humming sound that was also annoying. After a horrendous experience at an outback in Hendersonville we were given comp cards as a way to make amends. We live near this location so decided to give them a try and use our comp card (gift cards). The service was amazing. We were greeted immediately and seated very shortly after entering. Our steaks were perfectly cooked. Drinks never empty. At the end of the meal we handed over the gift cards and were informed by our server that the Hendersonville location gave us empty comp cards the manager never loaded. She then told us her manager comped our entire meal since the mix up was the other locations fault and not ours. I was blown away. Tiffany was our waitress and was so so sweet, attentive, and personable. I accidentally ordered the tawoomba salmon thinking it was their plain salmon and I don't like shrimp so ended up not liking it. They were so sweet and quickly got me a delicious regular salmon and Cindy was the manager who came and talked to me about it. She made sure I was happy and gave me a to go box for the tawoomba salmon so that if I wanted to at home I could scrape the toppings off and see if I liked it then.
