    Cheese wheel pasta

I was intrigued by this place when I saw the Pasta al Formaggio passing by and decided to try it out. We thoroughly enjoyed the food as it was presented right in front of us with fire, water, and a large serving of truffle mushroom!

What an amazing experience while in Florence, Italy! Before heading back to our cruise ship, we stopped in at Osteria Del Proconsolo for lunch and saw their special of the day: Pasta con formaggio e tartufo which is pasta mixed in a Pecorino cheese wheel with fresh truffle. Easy choice!! As soon as we walked in, we were greeted and sat right next to a window, which was perfect for people watching. Our server was awesome!! She took our drink and appetizer order. We went with the house wine and their house specialty salad with tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, olives, and sweetcorn. OMG, everything was amazing .... the presentation, (I wished I could upload the whole video) the plating, the taste. Incredible!! Also, they did not skimp on the truffles either. Each and every bite of pasta had truffle. It was so filling, and we were glad that's all we ordered. Plenty of food. Definitely go see them if you are in Florence!! Highly recommend!!

Si mangia davvero bene in questa trattoria! L'antipasto e Le scaloppine al vino bianco erano squisiti! I prezzi sono un pochino altini ma c'era d' aspettarselo in una città come Firenze! Loved this restaurant! The appetizer and the veal scaloppine with white wine were delicious! Definitely on the pricier end but it makes sense in a big, touristy city such as Florence!

Before coming to Italy, we had never eaten truffles before. Tonight, we had a truffle feast and it didn't break the bank! The place is busy and beautiful. We enjoyed our last dinner in Florence.

We stop by this osteria for dinner because we saw a sign that we were walking by and it seem like it was having a special. We ordered the beef carpaccio and it was pretty good. We're not as good as some of the other places that we had while in Florence. Service was great, but the food was not as good as some of the other places. Ambience was fine. It's a little bit more casual. I don't think I'll be coming back here because there are so many other nicer and better restaurants in the area

Good Italian food near museums and cathedral. Waiters speak English. Not happy they charged 2.5 Euros seating charge because we were Americans. Reasonable prices.

    Free secured Wi-Fi.

Four or five stars? I rounded up. Excellent freshly made pasta. So prevalent in Italy yet so uncommon in the USA. I had the carbonara sauce with my pasta and both were delicious! The glass of wine was a dry Ruffino rose wine and very good. Bread with lunch was the unsalted Tuscan bread called Shokko (not sure of spelling) which means crazy in their local language. Would definitely recommend!

Bruschetta: the toast was so warm and perfectly crunchy, and the tomatoes were really nicely seasoned, I'd definitely recommend ordering Prosciutto with mozzarella: loved the mozzarella, it was so fresh but if you're not that hungry maybe skip this so you can have room for the main entree Caprese salad: good and refreshing Pici w truffle and sausage: if you like al dente pasta this will be perfect for you. As soon as they brought it out we could smell the truffle, it was also a good sized portion, I was full before I finished! Fusilli pesto: same as the pici, definitely for al dente fans. A lot of cherry tomatoes too which was nice Meat and mushroom pizza: my brother ordered this and I believe this restaurant is Better for pizzas as this was my favorite dish out of everyone's orders!

Soooo yummy! We got the bruschetta and Florentine pizza. I didn't get a picture because I ate it all too fast Service was attentive and polite...would definitely recommend!

Beware: $5 seating fee is charged for eating in. Also it is slightly overpriced for the food. Came for lunch and ordered the pesto pasta and the sausage pasta. Bread was brought with our food with the Parmesan cheese and olive oil BUT NO BALSAMIC VINEGAR. Bread was awefully hard (I might as well have ordered the bruschetta!) The sausage pasta was with a white cream and tasted decent but the pesto could have been better. I do not recommend this place.

He was awesome and had us laughing the entire night. We peppered him with a lot of questions about the menu, he answered everything and also accommodated my father-in-law, who is GF. He had his own GF bread basket and was able to order almost anything on the menu. We ordered a nice bottle of Montepulciano red for the table that was $48. Others had the Hugo spritz. For app I had the anchovies with roasted red pepper, sea salt and oil over grilled crostini, very good. I skipped first course and ordered the ribeye steak for my main course. Bone in, medium rare, sprinkled with sea salt and a side of onion marmalade. The steak was very good and had way less fat than I expected. The waiter suggested a huge steak for the table, but I was the only one ordering steak that night. Maybe next time. Others ordered the fillet and it was cooked perfectly, the angels and demons gnocchi, and the veal scallopini. Everybody was pleased Really cool spot with a very good wine selection, drinks, excellent food and a fun atmosphere that you don't find at many places. Nugo was an A+ server.

Not many places actually have yelp reviews, but this one had so many with great feedback. The food looked amazing. When we arrived we thought they were closed, but that is because they moved to a bigger restaurant a few doors down. When we arrived at the front, the gentleman asked if we had reservations, which we didn't. He directed us to the line with no reservations. The line was a bit long, but doubled in size almost immediately. It also started pouring rain during this time and we were ALL getting drenched even with an umbrella. The non reservation line was not really moving unless people left the line. We waited a good hour. As we inched closer and closer, the lines were now both outrageous and getting seated seemed like a distant memory. The staff came out and gave out Sangria and Bread bites to help those in line feel welcome. We did finally get seated and we were so glad we waited, it was worth it! We ordered the Spaghetti Carbonara, the lobster spaghettini and the chicken breast with roasted potatoes. We also ordered sangria. Everything was so good and our total was 83 €. Prices were unbelievable! We were amazed at the quality, the service and how large the restaurant they relocated to was. It was like a well oiled machine. The food coming out quickly and efficiently. We were in the area around 4:30PM and decided to stop in, totally not expecting much as we didn't make a reservation but figured if they're open and not busy, why not give them a try. The most memorable dish we had was the appetizer we order - fried polenta with mushrooms and chicken liver pate, the polenta fried crispy, the mushrooms creamy and the chicken liver pate so smooth and savory. We also ordered 2 pasta dishes - wild boar sauce pappardelle and spaghetti alla carbonara. So tasty and with depth of flavors. Paired well with the house white wine we ordered as well. Definitely a spot you don't want to miss when in Florence.

On top of the pain of securing a reservation (they only take these over the phone; no online system), the only slot I could secure even as a solo diner was as soon as they opened, at 6pm, and via a bar seat. When I arrived, I was immediately greeted by several of the staff, all warm/kind. One of them offered me a table, even though I humbly mentioned I'd be fine with whatever was convenient to them. I looked around and saw what seemed to be majority American tourists so I had very standard expectations. Well, what commenced...my god. I'm getting chills now thinking about the entire experience. Just the absolute perfect dinner my first night in Florence. Everything on the menu looked fantastic and I was even tempted to order 2 Primi (pastas) but my server discouraged it, said they were quite large. Instead she guided towards the "must" appetizer, the "onion flan with pecorino cheese and truffle" followed by their signature pasta, "pappardelle with wild boar ragù" The appetizer literally brought me to tears as soon as I took a bite. I didn't think I liked truffle but this was life-changing. And the pasta was served piping hot and also to die for. I complemented the meal with a delicious glass of white and red and ended with the utterly divine tiramisu. I will be dreaming about this meal for years to come. So epic.

What a fun place to be! The food was absolutely amazing. When we saw them slicing the salami right in front of us, we decided to order the salami plate and we were so glad we did! The zucchini flower and saffron pasta was bursting with flavor and the pasta was so perfectly cooked. I couldn't get enough! The duck ragu pasta was also hearty, rich, and delicious. The sauce was so good, my family soaked up every last bit with our bread. The ricotta spinach ravioli was also amazing!! Again the sauce was such a standout. The ravioli was so fresh with the perfect amount of bite. The green pepper sauce steak was soooo good. Cooked perfectly, with such a unique sauce that the whole peppercorns added perfectly to in texture and spice. Finally, the raspberry tiramisu. We were so full, but when they set these down our dessert stomachs were ready. They were amazing! Not the strongest raspberry flavor, but still such a delicious end to the meal. Side note, you MUST have a reservation to eat here, and they only take reservations by call. Because I didn't have a way to call them, I asked my Airbnb hosts who did it for me (also amazing people). We had our hotel call for us when we checked in and were lucky to grab a 1:30 lunch slot on a Thursday afternoon. We saw the fat physical reservation book when we went, and also saw an attempted walk-in get turned away. We wanted to go for dinner, but I'm just glad we were able to get in at all. Vini e Vecchi Sapori was easily my favorite restaurant in Florence. I loved the cozy, vibrant dining room, snug and eclectically decorated. We were at a table so tiny, I worried about pulling a muscle when I crossed my legs. It was nestled amongst other tiny tables, and abutted a counter where plates were put out for service and the reservation book set down in its glory next to my husband's head. Service was warm, efficient, and attentive. Our waiter basically told what to order and we obeyed him, with excellent results. The one-page handwritten menu, helpfully available in English, presented the day's offerings and this preemptive list of disclaimers: No Pizza No Cappuccino No The Fork No Ice No Spritz No Ketchup FUCK CANCER There was a brief selection of Italian wines by the glass, and we got the Chianti Classico and the Bruno de Montalcino, both lovely. The food was delicious, starting with good bread and good olive oil. We ordered the mixed Tuscany salami and the beef carpaccio as appetizers, and they were both superb and not in the least bit redundant. There were four or five types of salami, every one of them fantastic, and I loved the thin, silky carpaccio, served with rucola, parmesan, olive oil, and black pepper. We shared two splendid pastas, spinach ricotta ravioli in a creamy rose tomato sauce and a hearty pappardelle with duck ragu. For dessert, we had the lush, irresistible raspberries tiramisu. I plan to come back to Florence one day, and will make a point of coming back to Vini e Vecchi Sapori. It's a special restaurant, the kind you hope to find in Italy, a welcoming place with lively ambiance and wonderful food.

While everything we ordered was delicious, nothing at Trattoria Giovanni felt like a dish you couldn't find elsewhere... and honestly, that's perfectly fine! It was traditional, comforting, and exactly what we were craving. The plate of cured meats and cheese was phenomenal, a great start to the meal.
