Service was terrible. We stopped in to get a bite after walking all morning. We were greeted quickly and sat quickly. However that was the only good part of this experience. In Florence we expect a more laid back approach but this was not laid back this was non existent! We ordered drinks and that was an inconvenience. The server was too busy looking at other guests bodies to pay us any attention. We ordered water no glasses were given to drink it with. We had to get our own glasses. The we had to flag him down, which took a good 10 minutes to order. Then when we went to order he helped the male person in our party and completely disrespected and disregarded the female person in the party as if her order or what she has to say is nonsense. Highly disappointed in this place. I have to say it is the first time I've had a bad experience in Italy. Most places are great! This place is not.
Deliciousness - 3/3 Happiness - 3/3 We stumbled upon this osteria while looking for lunch and... it did the job. While nothing stood out, it was affordable and perfectly fine. The service was typical of the area (a bit slow and takes a long time to check out). I got a pizza and I liked that this was one of the few restaurants that allowed you to customize the toppings. I got mine topped with chicken and eggplant. The chicken was nice and tender, although the eggplant was a bit too thickly sliced and bitter. Of all the pizza I had in Italy, it was the least memorable. My wife got the cacio e pepe (basically a cheese and pepper pasta) that was perfectly fine. I think it could have used more pepper to maximize the flavor (although when you got a bite that was fully peppered it really was exquisite). I also ordered a hot chocolate that came out real thick - similar to drinking chocolate (but a bit grittier). It was a bit disappointing as it came out too hot to drink, but then cooled into a pudding-like consistency that wasn't particularly pleasant to eat. So, my hunger was abated with a perfectly acceptable meal. But particularly in Florence, I think there's many better restaurants to try out.
This spot was a few steps from out hotel (Grand Cavour) and happened to be our first meal in Florence. We arrived around 3 -so late lunch, not busy and we sat outside. Al Fresco dining is the only way to go out here if the weather is nice-the interior spaces stay empty which was what we saw during our trip. We shared a mixed/side salad and got a draft Peroni. Salad was fresh and light, Peroni was crisp and cold. For main it was the Tagliatelle Alla Norcina. Sausage and Truffle Sauce were delicious! Also, Bistecca Di Maille Alla Griglia. Grilled Pork Chop was seasoned just right and pure comfort. We made the mistake of asking for details when asked if we wanted Dolce. We had to go for it when our Server told us the Tiramisu was house made. Oh my! Amazing Tiramisu and must try! Cappuccinos were excellent. That said, really difficult to have a bad cup of coffee out here. Service was friendly and attentive. Apparently they are known for their pizza which we missed (next time). That said, don't miss the Truffle Tagliatelle and Tiramisu!
The family came here on our first trip to Italy from the US. I chowed down the tagliatelle alla norcina, it was delicious: the sauce, the sausage and the pasta all delicious! The calzones were good, but nothing to brag about. The chicken was a hit with my mother in law who is quite picky. The chocolate soufflé was a bit over cooked but yummy. It's a good atmosphere inside and in a plaza on the outside. The service is friendly and speaks English.
While shopping around the leather market, I got nauseous from the smell and decided to have lunch instead. My husband saw seats open at Osteria de' Peccatori in the plaza, so we ate pizza there. Though I'm grateful for the umbrellas keeping us shaded, it's annoying how many tables and chairs are crammed together and wobbling around. Anyways, service was pretty fast. Makes sense with a high turnover of customers in a heavy tourist area. My husband wanted to keep our meal simple and light, so he ordered pizza with prosciutto and mozzarella. It was okay... putting stuff on top of Florentine bread doesn't enhance the taste that much, but it was a good serving size. Everyone around us was having a spritz, and I didn't understand why until a few days later when I got addicted to them. Dangerous to have 1 or 2 at lunch and wine at dinner! These Italians are crazy awesome. Anyways, it was a nice view on the plaza while enjoying "real" pizza with my new husband!
My first impression of the Osteria de Peccatori was that it could have been a tourist trap with its boldly displayed "Menu Turistico", but my feet hurt and the smells were so nice. I couldn't have been more mistaken. What I had taken for the typical, cynical "come-on" was a reflection of how far the staff would go to make a visiting tourist feel comfortable. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. Sitting outside was a great experience with the life of a vibrant city passing by only meters away.

We enjoyed lunch here during our afternoon in Florence. We had the cacio e pepe and pasta with meat sauce. The sauces and the pastas were high quality and very much enjoyed. Our server was abrupt but sufficient. I do wish they gave us bread with the meal and would waive the "cover charge." read more

Great service made our first meal back in Florence a warm welcome. Osteria de Peccatori is just steps from our apartment, so after a long international flight we kept it simple--pizza, cacio e pepe, a Florentine steak, salad, and chips. The steak was just okay, but everything hit the spot. Honestly, the friendly, attentive service made all the difference when we were tired and hungry. read more
We love it here. Cannot beat the happy hour and it's in a beautiful plaza. Outside is lovely with heating lamps, important as we are here in March. Five euro drink menu. Cannot beat it. Service is really nice (English speaking), and the bathrooms are clean. Highly recommend. Thank you! read more

We ate here two times in May when we visited Florence. The first meal was a very tasty vegetable soup (it was a chilly day), and the last meal of our last evening there was a very, very! delicious spaghetti with meat sauce for me. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

Walked in, was acknowledged and welcomed by host. Small restaurant with good ambiance, there's indoor and outdoor seating. Beautifully served cheesecake, it was a delicious dessert. read more

Just a quick stop for a snack, but we enjoyed the loveliest pizza---prosciutto, mushrooms, and mozzarella. The cruise was thin and the edge bubbled. The kind of crust you eat completely, leaving no "pizza bones" to take home for the dog! Why can't i find this pizza in Austin?? read more

Ordered a pizza with onions, marinara and cheese. And the ravioli in pink sauce. The pizza had way tooooooo much onions and the crust was very hard. Overall not a great pizza experience. The ravioli was fresh and tasted well, however, the sauce was not enough and felt less seasoned. read more

We just had a quick lunch there. I had the Macheroni Alla Boscaiola. It was only €8, very fresh and flavorful. Meat sauce pasta was good as well. A great place to grab lunch on the go. read more

Talk about an incredible dining spot! This place definitely lived up to the reviews. We ate lunch here outside and loved the scenic cathedral views around us. Our waiter was funny and accommodating to my request for no oil since my stomach was acting weird. So much to chose from on the menu. They offered loads of gluten free pasta and pizza. My mom got the spaghetti and meat sauce and I opted for the grilled chicken and grilled vegetables. Both of us agreed it was FABULOUS! My chicken was lean, cooked perfectly and so full of flavor from simply being grilled! The eggplant, zucchini, and bell pepper were some of the best grilled vegetables I've had in my life. Astounding pretty much sums up our experience. Their dessert menu looked amazing as well but we were stuffed! Hope to visit again! read more

Great find despite its size and touristy appearance. Service is fast and efficient. Menu is expansive. Nice focused wine list. All food was freshly prepared, hot and tasty. The pasta is homemade. Nice al fresco seating. Great experience. read more

Quick service, low prices, good sangria, and gluten free options! After our original place was full, we stopped by here for dinner on a Saturday night. We sat outside and enjoyed a great meal. They offer gluten free pizza and pasta to substitute in all options. They even have seafood pizza! Overall, good experience read more

After a full day of exploring and shopping (maybe too much) in Florence, we wanted to end our trip with a delicious Italian dinner. Determined to save our wallets, we avoided the touristy restaurants close to the Duomo and found Osteria after some wandering. We walked in and were greeted by Giovanni, who would turn out to be our welcoming and endearing server. The decor is beautiful and rustic, and you can find everything from vintage books to old keys on the walls. The atmosphere was warm and homey, just like I imagined my perfect Italian restaurant should be. We ordered the lasagna, which was hot and still bubbling upon arrival. One little bite revealed the perfect combination of mozarella, fresh tomato sauce, and flavorful meat pieces. The addition of fresh oregano and homemade Beschemel, or cream sauce, made it the best lasagna I've had to date. Giovanni was accommodating and funny, teaching us phrases of Italian and making sure we were satisfied between every visit. We chose strawberry panna cotta for dessert, and it was surprisingly delicate and not overly sweet. Panna cotta is like gelatinized whipped cream, super rich and oh so creamy. The whole meal came out to be 15 euro a person, a steal for such a magnificent meal in a city like Florence. Though it's not custom to tip in Europe, our service was so exceptional that we had to. If you're in Florence, please give Osteria de' Peccatori a try! read more

We had the sausage pizza and green salad. Our server was very nice and patient with us (Americans) the pizza was good, sausage tasty, thin crust and delicious cheese. The pizza is big enough to share with two people. The green salad was not so green a little bitter but of course enough olive oil, balsamic vinegar and salt and pepper and it's good to go. Tiramisu was not what I expected however maybe what I've had was not correct. The tiramisu was sweet lots of cocoa powder on top which was good, not a lot of cake in the center and it had bits of chocolate chips. Great inexpensive place for lunch or dinner. read more

We ordered four pizzas and a bottle of Coke here for lunch after wandering around the Uffizi for a few hours. There wasn't really anything bad about our food--but nothing stood out about it, either. We had four different pizzas--one margherita, one with sausage, one with spicy salami, and one with ricotta, mushrooms, and ham. And, again, they okay, kind of what I'd expect from an American restaurant trying to do Italian food. Our waiter was good, did the bare necessities of his job. He did steer me clear of the pizza with speck and I think marscapone. I don't know if it was because it was do different that he was worried I'd complain when i got it or if he really didn't like it like he said, but I kinda wish I tried something different. I have to say the place was family-friendly. But overall, although we weren't offended by the food we also didn't think it was remarkable, either. read more

I'm sure this place is a tourist trap but I didn't care all that much because the food was awesome! After our walking tour, my husband and I were looking for a place to eat lunch and stumbled upon this place. I chose the restaurant because it had tagliatelle with bolognese, which is my favorite Italian dish. The food was delicious and probably one of the best meals we had in all of Italy. I ordered my favorite pasta dish while my husband chose to go with a signature Florentine dish which was their huge steaks. Our guide had informed us about how famous Florence was for their steaks and how it's suppose to be cooked rare. Overall the steak was delicious and very simply flavored but definitely not the best steak we've ever had. The meal was wonderful and I still think about how delicious my tagliatelle with bolognese was! Our whole meal costs us just under 50 euro, which included a half liter of their house red wine, an appetizer, the two main dishes and the usual Italian service charge. read more

Fantastic find. We veered left instead of right and the rest of our guided tour got lost...oh well. This is a perfect spot to have lunch. Authentic feel from the minute you walk in - though you can opt for outside seating as well. They have a wide variety of pasta dishes and pizza. Everything they served was fresh including the bread and olive oil. They offer kids menu which includes a drink and ice cream. But if you order anything for your bambino outside of the kids menu the ice cream is extra. Portions are large and this is not fast food. The experience is best if you have spent the day walking and have built up a good appetite. Good wine, beer, soft drinks, and bottled water. Our waitress was very pleasant- and spoke just enough English to get by- while the runner spoke no English at all...completing the experience. read more

Touristy spot. Quick lunch service with wifi. The vegetarian pizza (eggplant, artichoke, mushrooms on red sauce minus cheese) was good though the crust was thicker than the ones that we found in Rome. The ham and olive salad was really nice. The balsamic vinaigrette was especially tasty. Service was attentive. The price of the food being in a touristy spot was good where the vegetarian pizza was €7.50 and the salad €8.90. There is a €1 cover charge for a sit-in lunch. read more
