I should have read more reviews. food was mediocre quality for Italy and they were trying to pass off spaghetti as Pici. I ordered the Pici carbonara and it was frankly terrible. I had amazing Pici in Siena 2 different places, this was not even close. Avoid if you care about food food. The staff was very good kind and accommodating and they did remove my barely eaten dish from the bill so they do operate with integrity. We had a very nice lunch here after touring the main sites nearby. The service was great and the restaurant was nice and quiet and cool, a welcome reprieve from the busy, hot streets outside. We shared a ravioli and a pesto pasta dish, both very fresh and delicious. The meal comes with delicious bread and olive oil for dipping. The restaurant features some amazing looking dry aged meats that we did not try. Just strolling by and this place caught our eye. It was packed but they sat us quickly. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. I got the bruschetta to start and my GF got the salad both were good. For lunch she got the chicken Parmesan which was very good and thankfully made with no cheese. It wasn't your typical heavy chicken parm that puts you to sleep just after! I went with the wild boar pasta and it was phenomenal. Highly recommend. My husband and I visited Ristorante Casa del Vin Santo for a light snack after our wine tour. We were a little put off that there was a €2 service charge per person just to sit in the restaurant. It is true that some restaurants do this in Italy, but they are usually the restaurants that are beside a tourist attraction or are on the water or have a beautiful view. I cannot say that Ristorante Casa del Vin Santo offered any of these aspects and we had eaten in the area prior and none of the other restaurants charged this silly fee. We took advantage of the free wi-fi and the bathrooms at the restaurant to justify paying €4. We ordered a bottle of water and a margherita pizza. The pizza was pretty generic and had no basil on the pizza. A Margherita pizza consists only of tomato sauce, mozzarella, and basil so it was very dissappointing that one of the three toppings were missing. This may have been the most disappointing pizzas we had during our vacation in Italy. read more

I am so shocked as to how these reviews vary. Let me first say I am stingy with 5 stars, but this place was totally worth it. Hands down our best meal in Florence. We ordered the spaghetti with fresh tomatoes and basil / and chicken with mushrooms. The best chicken dish during our 15 days in Italy. But the best thing? Homemade fresh minestrone soup. If I could give 0 stars I would. Steak was horrible and was barely chewable... I am talking about the dry aged bistecca (not sure how to spell it.) my daughters fillet was ordered medium and was very thin and well done and chewy like a shoe sole. The waiter was so nice to offer to redo it, but my daughter declined. The French fries were pretty good, but that's not why I came to Italy. The ambiance was ok, but have had a lot better. My father refused to eat the steak and ordered spaghetti with tomato sauce to play it safe. The spaghetti were undercooked and not even Al dente. Overall I would say skip this restaurant. Couldn't agree more with the other reviews. During our last stay in Florence we had dinner here. It was simply awful. The pizza was soggy, seafood risotto was too salty and not fresh. I would have liked an extra plate for the shells but was not given any. Staff was unfriendly and not paying attention to us at all, the pizza arrived within 10minutes wheras the risotto took about 24min. A pity to not be able to dine together. Overall, bad experience and overpriced for the missing quality. Definitely better places close by! read more

I always wanted to taste pizza from Italy. As soon as we walked in and I saw the brick oven in the back I knew we were in the right place. Let's start with the Air conditioning. It was excellent. They had fans making sure it reached every inch of the room. We sat in front of the area were the brick oven cooked the pizzas and did not feel any heat. Our waitress was sweet and helped me to add to extra ingredients to my pizza. Once it came out I dug in. Every bite was fantastic. Sitting here I realized something. Definitely a tourist trap. Anyone who says that the food is good here clearly hasn't had good Italian before. Me and 5 others scarfed down the food because we didn't want to be rude, but we all agreed the food was awful and it put a damper on the night. On top of that, we tried to politely send back one appetizer that was particularly bad but we were charged for it anyways, and to add insult, the waiter said we must not have good taste if we didn't like it. A shrimp cocktail (while obviously not Italian and thus we probably shouldn't have ordered it) shouldn't be drenched in ketchup and mayonnaise with one shrimp. We aren't from Italy and won't be back to this spot, but I just wanted to alert interested tourists. Go somewhere else; Italy is full of great food. Was walking around looking to grab a quick bite. The place was empty so we decided to try. The waiters were waiting by the door and offered us outdoor seating. Beware, they charge you extra to sit outside. I ordered the chicken with mushrooms it was a tiny piece of chicken with a few mushrooms in a cream sauce. It does not come with sides and not worth the price. My friend ordered the porkchop but the waiter brought out roasted chicken with potatoes. When they take your order, they just watch you point to something on the menu and do not repeat back what you ordered, probably because they don't speak English well, so if you do eat here, make sure you repeat back what you want. My friend was going to keep the order but the chicken looked dry and like it had been sitting there all day. They finally brought the porkchop out. It was juicy but again, just a porkchop.. We ate here last night 9/19/2015. The service was pretty horrible. The food however was good. We had a t-bone steak which was overcooked but still good, and tortellini with bolgnese. We waited forever for our antipasti, more than 30 minutes after that our meals finally came. After we finished our main course, we sat there forever waiting for our server, we see him run in the restaurant from down the street, God knows where he went.
