My son and I were wandering around Florence near our hotel one evening and found this incredible restaurant that we keep talking about. Neither of us can recollect what the name of it is or where it is! This became too frustrating. So, using forensic analysis of our Google timeline from December 2016, we finally figured out that this was the restaurant that we loved! My son and I went for dinner; had the Bruschetta with black cabbage and cannellini beans as an appetizer. It seriously blew our minds! Unbelievably good. We each got a pizza - looking at the menu I probably got the quattro formaggi; no idea what my son got. They were extraordinarily good. And inexpensive! This is a destination restaurant. Not a great start. I know it's a busy Saturday night but there is absolutely no order here. If you're not going to bully your way into getting attention here you'll never be helped. I'm not an aggressive person so if it's busy ofc I'm going to wait until host has time to help me. But here they reward all the people who aggressively stop the host or waiters and demand when they can be seated, then are added to his waiting list?? I found this place on the "10 best" list for pizzas in Florence. Since we were staying in Santa Croce, we were happy to check this place out especially since it was a "top 10" pizza joint. I love, love italian pizza. I made us have one nearly every day of our trip so my review is based on an expectation that the pizza should be delicious because 1. we are in italy and it's hard to make a bad pizza! 2. it was a "ten best" list for pizzas..... So, it's in a central location within a square, we sat outside to people watch the view was great! We had the house wine (which was very good) and started with the caprese. The caprese was excellent - fresh ingredients and the olive oil and basil were divine. We both ordered pizzas - I got a pizza with salami and my friend ordered a margherita pizza. Both were.... alright. Better than american pizza, for sure but not that tasty for italian pizza - almost bland (how is that even possible?). The service was ok a bit slow but it's a busy place so that can be expected. Somewhat pricey but we also expected that. I did notice that 90% of the patrons were tourists so if that gives you any indication of the food.... well, there you go. I'm giving them 3 stars for the house wine and caprese. My cousin used to eat here all the time when she studied abroad & since we were all back we had to see what all the fuss was about. We stopped in here for lunch, what a nice lunch. We both had a starter and main dish. All the food was very fresh, and perfectly prepared. I started with the radicchio pasta, had a delicious creamy sauce, my second course was the roasted chicken and potatoes, was so delicious, made like I make. My husband had the red based pasta, it was excellent, and than chicken fillets over veggies. The lunch was really good. We picked a half liter of their house white, not a good choice, was too sprity. A red wine would have been better. The neighboring table had a pizza and calzone, both looked so good, we will try to get back there this week for the pizza. One of my favorite spots in Florence! I've been to this place over 20 times and my two favorite dishes are the pear and blue cheese pizza and the pear and pecorino ravioli. They also have a very good margherita pizza if you're feeling simple. The staff is very nice and helpful. Also, get the house wine! The sparkling white wine is refreshing, delicious, and inexpensive! The best restaurant in Florence!! Not only is the food phenomenal, but the staff goes above and beyond. The staff are all so kind, fun, friendly, and accommodating. The setting is lovely and quaint, they also have an outdoor patio in this picturesque town square. The restaurant is in the perfect location, there are plenty of shops surrounding for before dinner, and plenty of bars for an after dinner night cap. They have delicious house wine! We've have been here to eat so many times and some of our favorite dishes are: the pizzas, parmesan gnocchi, bistecca Fiorentina, fried zucchini, L'impasto fritto, and my favorite: ziti with asparagus in a bread bowl (I forget what it's called). And the best part is that all of the dishes are so affordable! A great place for a date night or a large group dinner. read more

It was my last night in Florence and We Came Upon This Place randomly walking around and exploring the streets. It was right across from another restaurant that was equally busy and someone who noticed I was looking at both menus came up to me and said that this restaurant was outstanding and she had come back twice because it was so good. As we sat down outside I noticed that the server was extremely attentive to everything we were doing. We had a child at our table and he brought toys. He noticed that I was looking at just the vegetarian options and he went ahead and told me all the other options I had. He was extremely friendly and extremely generous. The food here was unbelievable. The gnudi was outstanding and definitely not to be missed. The pear ravioli was also decadent, I thought it would be overpoweringly sweet however it was not it just had a slight subtle sweetness to it and overall was extremely delicious.
