    When in Italy.......
    Sandy M.

Lovely spot in the Piazza di Santa Maria Novella, perfect for our first night in Florence. The menu features pasta, salad, pizza, etc, so a very good choice when one is unsure what they want. We sat outside in the cool shade ~ the view was beautiful! The restaurant was out of several things including Rosa and the ravioli we wanted to try, so we opted for pizza. The crust was so good, thin and crispy, one was a spicy sausage ~ delicious, and the other a margarita. We also had great Aperol Spritzes, cold and perfectly made. Overall a great casual experience.

Stopped here while strolling around in florence. The hostess/server wasn't the friendliest. Next, we ordered the beef meatballs with mashed potatoes to start and the 4Stagioni pizza with 2 caffe lattes. The pizza was a 2 out of 5 in my opinion. It was soggy from the olive juice and canned mushrooms that looked like they just slapped on the pie. The ham tasted like grocery store quality. The meatballs came out cold in the middle, and were burnt, probably from when they first cooked it yesterday. Our fault for not doing more research.

The good: - dining outdoors during a brilliantly sunny (and shockingly warm) November afternoon - my frigid generic birra (likely Moretti or Peroni) - the accordionist in the piazza playing a solid rendition of Pachelbel's Canon The bad: - crunchy uncooked bits of pasta in my pesto linguine - the impossibility of flagging down a server for 15-20 minutes after delivery of my food The ugly: - obnoxiously loud elderly foreign tourists at the next table over; if I ever become one of those, please hit me in the face... hard ---- Given its location right on Piazza Santa Maria Novella, Vincanto is a tourist flytrap. Its welcoming umbrella-shaded outdoor seating and superior people-watching locale can't be missed. However, don't go in expecting cheap eats (or good ones, for that matter). With some banked expectations, you can get away at least satisfied, if not impressed.

My family and I had to kill some time before checking into our Airbnb and we stopped here for lunch since it was close to the train station. The server was very nice and stored our luggage for us while we dined. I ordered the spinach and cheese dumplings, my mom had the pumpkin soup, and my friend had an omelette. The portion sizes were much smaller than we expected, especially for the price. My spinach and cheese dumplings were disappointing, I got 4 small cheese balls. It just wasn't what I was expecting. It want bad but it wasn't great. I left hungry

Risotto with sausage and spinach was soooo good

The food was absolutely delicious! I like variety and I love to sit and people watch. They have outdoor seating. You can smoke plus the music playing around you (unk source). About the food... I started with the meatball and mashed potato appetizer, soooo good! Peferect! Then I had the lasagna dish and a risotto dish too ( I like variety ) both DELICIOUS! The service is a bit rushed. And a tad forgetful but it is also a Saturday night. Go akd enjoy yourself. I'm sure your tastebuds will dance :)

Nastro Azzurro and steak, one happy guy.

May 8, 2017 Monday - 6:30 PM for a dinner 4 adults Atmosphere - 5 stars Food - 5 stars Service - 5 stars Background - Another restaurant close to the hotel that did not disappoint us. Atmosphere - Did not even step inside to eat. They took over some of the plaza in front of their restaurant. The space is covered with large patio umbrellas, draw back the sun was sneaking under it as the sun was setting. Great for people watching while waiting and talking with your friends. Food Drinks - Nastro Azzurro and some sparkling water Dinner - Tagliata fiorentina con patate al forno (Steak, boneless and sliced, Florentine style). That was a mouthful. I have never had this style of steak before. They did not ask how I wanted cooked but it was a beautiful medium rare. Once piece, the thicker piece, was getting close to rare. The seasoning was excellent. The steak was served on top of cubed season potatoes that rested on top a hot iron plate on a wood base, fajita like. Service - Our waiter did not speak much English but we all got through it. We were able to read the menu as it was in Italian and English. Future - Yes.

This place should have a 10 star rating, it is that awesome! The prices are standard fare (€€ not €€€) and quiet honestly is a steal for the quality you get. You can't beat the outdoor seating area smack in the middle of the park and they seriously have some of the best food I have tasted in Italy - and I have been here for a while. We came for their wine selection and spritz for aperitivo. We ended up staying for dinner. I had their thinly sliced beef baked with truffles (spianata di manzo del vincanto) for appetizers and the T-Bone steak (vera bistecca) for dinner. To die for. My friend (vegetarian) got the flan di carote (carrot and zucchini flan) and was super happy. The salsa di lamponi (ricotta cheese with raspberries) was yummm. Highly highly recommend.

It was about 11pm and we were starving! While everything else was either closing soon and/or closed we decided not to be picky at try this place. The decor is chic and the seats are comfy. The servers were kind and helpful. The menu was definitely different. Traditional dishes with a contemporary twist. I had the lobster linguine and my dinner mate had seafood gnocchi. It wasn't spectacular but it wasn't terrible either. The white wine we had was pretty good. I think at this point we were happy to have a hearty warm meal. The owner was kind enough to send over limoncello on ice. Which was kind!

Meat pizza and vegetarian ones as part of 11 euro deal. A bit drippy and nothing special really...

If I could give this place no stars I would. The service was absolutely terrible! There was one waiter who had a big puss on his face and refused to serve our table even though we were one of two inside the building. He gave short answers to every questions. Was impolite e.g. He bumped against me twice and didn't apologise even when I did. When it came to paying the bill I had to call over the manager because he refused to come to the table and I had to hold it down as it nearly flew off the table. The food itself was mediocre with the pizza being stranglely drippy. We got a deal for 11 euro for a pizza and a pint and the selection was very poor and you were stuck with bitter draft beer. All in all a terrible experience. And if the management is reading this please have a word with your waiter, he has some issues.

    Big drinks!

I will have to come back here for a real meal...but because of the service I received....I decided to go ahead and review. My initial thought was to just check in....but anyhow... We sat down and were greeted friendly and promptly. Always a good start for me. We stated we were just here for mid day drinks....I mean, we are on vacation. Lol. We noticed some restaurants had an issue with that....lunch with drinks only....by no, just drinks. So, if looking for a spot to refresh, this is a good spot. Like I said, service was kind. What got me was, them knowing we were just here for drinks....after 20 mins or so, they came and brought out this bread and meat platter as complimentary. Which was kind. So, I felt like they deserved a review. But hey, John Taffer says that customers who eat while drinking are likely to spend 33% more money on alcohol than those without food. So, I felt like we got "John Taffer'd." But I respect the game. So they get a review from me. lol. I will update my review when I really try the food....but fast service and good service...sounds like a good recipe to possibly a good meal experience ;)

This restaurant has the most beautiful atmosphere. The outdoor seating is right in the middle of the park, it's gorgeous. The service was 5 stars! The waiters were prompt, attentive and made sure we had everything that we needed. The food fresh and pleasant. The wine was great. A few street musicians started to play some traditional Italian music while we were having lunch and it was the perfect touch! It doesn't get much better than this... such a delightful Italian vibe, highly recommended!

We ordered the 2.6 lb dry aged Florentine steak and gnocchi. The Florentine steak is a must try steak here. It was very juicy, tender, and it was bursting with flavor. The meat was nice and chewy. The steak was gigantic and it is bigger than my head. They first bring out the raw steak and weight it in front of you. The steak is enough to share for three people. The gnocchi was also very delicious. It was cheesy and rich. It was also in a way creamy and the cheese just melted in your mouth. One of the best things I've ever put in my mouth and eaten. The cheesecake is very famous in this restaurant. We tried it and understand why. The cheesecake was super creamy and soft. I had a great time and experience here. Creamy and spicy, only if you mix in the hot parts. They come to table and weigh the meat in front of you so you know what you're paying for. It is cooked rare or medium rare. This is NOT like steakhouses in NYC. In its own category. It was presented with melting bone marrow, sea salt and cut off the bone. Extremely flavorful and tender. My only issue is that the fat doesn't render and there was silverskin in some pieces making it inedible, plus you've paid for this by weight. Great attentive service by Nick

Not many places actually have yelp reviews, but this one had so many with great feedback. The food looked amazing. When we arrived we thought they were closed, but that is because they moved to a bigger restaurant a few doors down. When we arrived at the front, the gentleman asked if we had reservations, which we didn't. He directed us to the line with no reservations. The line was a bit long, but doubled in size almost immediately. It also started pouring rain during this time and we were ALL getting drenched even with an umbrella. The non reservation line was not really moving unless people left the line. We waited a good hour. As we inched closer and closer, the lines were now both outrageous and getting seated seemed like a distant memory. The staff came out and gave out Sangria and Bread bites to help those in line feel welcome. We did finally get seated and we were so glad we waited, it was worth it! We ordered the Spaghetti Carbonara, the lobster spaghettini and the chicken breast with roasted potatoes. We also ordered sangria. Everything was so good and our total was 83 €. Prices were unbelievable! We were amazed at the quality, the service and how large the restaurant they relocated to was. It was like a well oiled machine. The food coming out quickly and efficiently. I will 100% be back if I return to Florence!

The atmosphere alone is worth a visit, but the food is what truly makes it exceptional. We ordered the ravioli, pappardelle with wild boar ragù, the Florentine steak, a mixed salad, affogato, and fresh strawberries with mascarpone cream. To drink, we shared a small carafe of red wine and a Pinot Grigio. Everything was spectacular. The Florentine steak was easily the best--and largest--I have ever had. Perfectly cooked, incredibly flavorful, and remarkably tender, it was the highlight of an already outstanding meal. The pappardelle with boar ragù was rich, hearty, and deeply satisfying, while the ravioli was beautifully prepared and full of flavor. Every dish felt authentic, carefully executed, and memorable. The wine was another pleasant surprise. Both selections were excellent and very reasonably priced, making the meal feel like an even better value. Our waiter was friendly, attentive, and incredibly helpful. He patiently answered questions, explained the menu, and guided us toward some fantastic choices. Although we thought we were too full for dessert, we're very glad we changed our minds. The affogato was fantastic, and the strawberries with mascarpone cream were absolutely delicious. One of the highlights of the evening was watching our four-year-old happily clutching two spoons and enthusiastically scooping fresh strawberries and mascarpone into his mouth. It was one of those memorable family travel moments that you don't forget. A terrific meal, a unique historic setting, excellent service, and a wonderful atmosphere. This was one of our favorite dining experiences in Florence, and I highly recommend it.

I was advised to show up on time - even a 2 minute delay would make me miss my reservation. I can see why Trattoria Mario was strict on reservations. They open on the dot, and then a staff member calls out each reservation at 7:30pm like a roll call. Seemed to me that if you don't have a reservation then you're out of luck, because there was no waitlist and the restaurant small and space was limited. Service was great. Our waitress was highly attentive and got us in/out of the restaurant quickly, which was what we were going for. Food came out in a timely manner. We ordered the penne al ragu, salad misto, and a Florentine steak to share. The penne was perfectly al dente, and I liked the meat sauce. I did find the pasta sauce salty, but it could've came from the grated parmesan. The saltiness was not a fluke. The Florentine steak was just pure beef and a ton of salt... too much salt for my liking. I also decided that I'm not a fan of Florentine steak in general.

Am I the only one that thought steak florentine was supposed to be served this way? Maybe that's was my mistake but I thought that's how it was prepared in Florence. Anyways, I was immediately suspicious when our waitress asked how we would like our steak cooked and her suggestions were medium or medium well. Uhhhh what? That goes against everything I believe in! The steak came out on a hot stone slab on top of a wooden box. The slab obviously continued to cook the steak so I immediately took off a few pieces to prevent this. The steak was thick and tender with chunks of large salt grains. It looked nice all sliced up but that's where the compliments end. It lacked flavor and ended up cooking to be more medium rare when I grabbed my pieces and then even medium by the time my dad grabbed his second slice. Our waitress seemed annoyed when we asked for the truffle sauce to accompany our steak (my dad forgot to ask for it when we placed our original order) and walked away with a huff to go grab it. The fries came out cold and limp with flavorless truffle shavings on top. I'm not sure why this place has such great reviews. Maybe it got too big for its britches and the quality has declined? The one saving grace was the crema bruciata! And the very understanding hostess who gladly pushed our reservation from 7:30 to 8:00pm due to travel difficulties. Whatever the reason, this place definitely missed the mark. You can't walk three steps without seeing a steakhouse here in Florence. My recommendation? Try one of those.
