I love going to Oslo because it's the only Americano that literally tastes like candy in my mouth. Sometimes a barista will pull one a little off, but mostly they're champs. I used to be a barista myself at a small gourmet shop too, so I'm super-appreciative of someone who can work that kind of magic. Plus, good beans. I'd give 5 stars except that their regular coffee for some reason is not delicious at all when you buy it there. If I make it at home, or when I had it once at M. Wells in LIC, it's good - maybe they burn it somehow? The baristas themselves are generally like other small-shop baristas: non-talkative, business-like, and uber-hipster. One girl who recently started working there smiles a bit more - love her. They've got Blue Sky Bakery goods, and recently started carrying new and exciting looking pastries as well. They don't toast bagels - that's sad, but I've heard that that's sortof a no-no for real NY bagels anyways. read more

I have to give credit where credit is due. My second time here and I got an iced cappuccino and it's so good. It must be the brown rice soy they use. I never had brown rice soy before but I will say the staff turned me on to it. The simple sugar is amazing. Ditch the sugar packets. One of the main reasons I joined Yelp was to write a review of Oslo. Even though I no longer live in Williamsburg, I make the trip out to Oslo every Sunday morning. They make the best soy latte I've ever tasted. Hands down. From what I understand, they use a special kind of soy milk made especially to be steamed so it doesn't get too watery and it actually foams. Their muffins are also fantastic. (I especially like the ones with cream cheese). Something you should know: there aren't outlets I know the no outlets thing drives some people crazy, but I love it. People actually talk or read instead of just sitting in front of a computer screen like a zombie. For the most part, Oslo also plays decent music, which is nice. read more

The most dog friendly coffee shop ever, there is always a scene of tiny dogs mulling outside. This delights some folks, I am not one of them. Owned by ex-Seattle coffee folks, Oslo has a decent pedigree. I've stop by many times but the lack of ac doesn't make me linger. The iced latte (too thick) and the iced tea (too bitter) are a bit pricey for what they are. I prefer to save myself for Manhattan caffeinated concoctions. read more

The service is quick and if you come often-- they take pretty good care of you. I often go to get my morning cup of coffee and an almond croissant. Even my friend who comes to visit every other week from Pennsylvania became a fan of this spot. The regular coffee's great. The one thing that really stands out is the soy latte. I also like how they make a cute decorative design with the foam. It's so sad sometimes to have to drink the coffee and destroy the artwork they did. The ambience is amazing and my ritual is to sit down on the benches under the japanese pine trees and enjoy every single sip. While in the winter, it's nice to sit down at the large table and read the new york times. I love Oslo Coffee. The coffee itself is always amazing and delicious. I have never had a weak cup in 6 months of frequenting the place. The atmosphere is nice and relaxing -- I can always find a place to sit and read/write. I actually even like the big communal table in the front and prefer to sit there rather than at a solo table. The pastry shelf is always well-stocked and never leaves me wanting. There is just one thing that prevents me from giving Oslo five stars. The coffee is too hot to handle -- literally. They don't have any cardboard holders for the hot coffee cup, so the thin paper cup is the only thing protecting my hand from scalding coffee. It isn't enough. Oslo is too good and too convenient not to go there for the hot reason, so I bought a re-usable coffee cozy and it seems to have solved my problem. I still think it is inconvenient that they don't have the cardboard holders, though. read more

With multiple new-to-me coffee shops in the area, I did my (yelp) homework before settling on Oslo. I opted for a decaf iced coffee since I read their brew packs some super strength. Initially, the flavor was good & strong, but the aftertaste had an awful bite. Still not as bitter as other decaf iced coffees I've had, but not something I'd order again. Add to the fact that they're cash only & I'm skipping past them to get to the other cafes in the vicinity. read more

Oslo has very good coffee, and the staff is very pleasant. The main problem I have with Oslo is the owner, who seems to think he owns the place -- often walking in and bumping into customers and not even seeming to notice -- he once walked a filthy bicycle tire right into my leg without apparently being the wiser. Most annoying, though, are his kids -- whose annoying practices he actively abets. It is not uncommon for him to place his three year old on top of the communal table. The kid's shoes are on the table! Where people eat! Isn't that, like, some sort of breach of basic hygiene! Some of the customers seem to think the owner does all of this out of passive-aggressive spite, and their argument is persuasive. I just don't understand how anyone can give each of these small children a large doughnut, or croissant, every day. Isn't that, like, poisonous even for adults? Predictably, after consuming these large treats, the children go haywire. What is especially irritating, is that their parents make virtually no effort to mitigate their ear-piercing shrieks, or to stop their incessant toy-throwing games. Frequently, in the afternoons and on weekends, the owners' children, along with other toddlers, run around literally screaming as their oblivious parents drink coffee and chat. It is a tremendously annoying spectacle. What is wrong with these people? Anyway, if you want to drink a cup of coffee in a cafe, and not in a nursery school, stay away form Oslo. read more

Found this place on yelp and decided to give it a try. I first want to say that they have a huge selection of things to drink, from smoothies to coffees hot and cold to refreshers. They also have a big selection of desserts. Wasn't too crowded when I went, I ordered an iced caramel macchiato with a flan and my boyfriend had the Nutella cappuccino with a party cupcake. It's like...you never know what to expect when you come in here. Sometimes the batistas look miserable and have attitude, other days they're super smiley and friendly. The coffee is good but they all have different ways of preparing it. Sometimes it's flavorless, sometimes it's too strong, sometimes luke warm, sometimes too hot..but it still works and gets the job done. The tarts and chocolate croissants are yummy but they need to get a tighter display case to avoid the random flies that bust up in there and chill on them. read more

This place sells a limited menu but all of it is solid. The workers are almost always friendly or at least polite, and the coffee is as good as any on Bedford. For some reason there are sometimes daily newspaper horoscopes taped to the side of the espresso machine, so you can see all the silly predictions as you wait for your drink. A pretty good coffee shop. I ordered coffee and a cookie. The coffee was strong and gave me the caffeine boost I needed, and the cookie was a good snack. The place was bigger than I expected (from the outside I thought it would be smaller). It's a clean organized cafe and the cashier was friendly and rung up my order quickly. There are plenty of tables and the music was chill and wasn't too loud. So this is probably a good spot to chat with a friend or get some work/reading done. I didn't stay here long, so don't know how if their wifi is fast and I didn't see if they had plugs. I will get coffee at Oslo again when I'm near the area. read more
