A pretty good coffee shop. I ordered coffee and a cookie. The coffee was strong and gave me the caffeine boost I needed, and the cookie was a good snack. The place was bigger than I expected (from the outside I thought it would be smaller). It's a clean organized cafe and the cashier was friendly and rung up my order quickly. There are plenty of tables and the music was chill and wasn't too loud. So this is probably a good spot to chat with a friend or get some work/reading done. I didn't stay here long, so don't know how if their wifi is fast and I didn't see if they had plugs. I will get coffee at Oslo again when I'm near the area. read more

I've spent the last 2 years or so wondering why my dad drove all the way into Williamsburg to buy coffee. And by "all the way," I mean from midway through Long Island... a good hour away. The supermarket's offerings always sufficed when I was still around. Now, please don't get me wrong... I'm very particular about my java. I'm that "type" that prefers spending the extra $5 for my Venti Starbucks over a large Dunkin' Donuts brew anyday of the week. Black with 2 Splenda... when I'm feeling dangerous, a little soy milk. Well, after moving into town about 2 1/2 weeks ago, I decided to venture over to Oslo to see what the hype was all about. Let me just tell you: THOR is what it's about. Just as the name implies, I feel as if the God of Thunder hits my body with every sip. What a way to wake up. Sorry, Starbucks, but you'll never touch my 2 travel mug drip coffee maker again. Minor Threat spinning on the record player (complete with abrupt speed changes?) A small personality cafe with good coffee. The guys behind the counter, while very hipster, also very skilled at pouring a cup, right down to the careful double mixing of my kids' hot chocolate. There's a reason people wait around the corner to squeeze inside. Cash only is tough, then again that seems to be the case in Williamsburg, though plenty of ATMs. read more

I live in the neighborhood, so I stop by pretty often. Coffee is nice and strong, and I like buying beans to take home as well. Great soy lattes too. Customer service very much depends on who happens to be working at the time, but besides a couple of duds, I've always had good experiences. The space itself is nice, but I think I've actually sat down only once or twice. Cons: cash only and they don't provide cardboard cup holders, which means that if I get my coffee hot, I'm bound to either burn my hand, spill the coffee while trying to switch hands, or both. read more

I honestly wouldn't survive without their fantastic iced mochas. Unfortunately the so-called croissants leave a bit to be desired, but I dare not complain and in any case they taste good even if they look and feel like pap. WOAH. I just saw whom I believe to be Oslos manager totally freak out on a lady for being on her cell phone about a half hour ago. It was kind of scary and I definitely won't be patronizing an establishment with such a lunatic running it. There was a small line and the lady in front of me ordered a latte and a bran muffin. It seemed like both the girls working there whom weren't the crazy manager lady(short with short brown hair and hairy arms) were new but now I realize they were probably just scarred to death. The girl at the register had to ask everyone twice what they wanted because she seemed so stressed. The lady on the cell phone told her twice she wanted a bran muffin and a latte before the girl rung it up and then it took her a few seconds to punch it in the register. As the lady on the phone was paying the crazy manager freaked out on her and started yelling at her for being on her cell phone and for holding up the line. First of all, if anyone was holding up the line it was the girl running the register. Second, I was behind the lady in line for a good 3 minutes and didn't even notice that she was on a phone until the girl started freaking out on her. I do agree that it is rude to be on a cell phone at the counter, but if your going to be a Nazi-b**ch about it, you shouldn't be running a coffee shop. How 'bout politely asking her to get off the phone and then mocking her when she leaves. Seriously, it was SCARY! I've never seen anyone freak out like that, especially at their own customer over something so stupid. It was like she was possessed. I'm not going back for fear that she'll freak out on me for not saying "Large coffee" fast enough. Good bye Oslo, please learn some manners. read more

Small, quiet (at the right times) and perfect window seating to watch the interesting folk of southern williamsburg walk by. I love how theres usually multiple newspapers littered throughout and usually other event magazines lying around. I may be one of the only people who approve of this, but I was glad to find there was no wi-fi. There are already dozens of spots in the area and it gets old walking into a hot spot where everyone in tap tap tapping away and plugged into their laptop. I've only had the drip coffee their, but have heard great things about their espresso. Their drip is decent and have never had a poor cup, but nothing that amazing. The price is right though, at two dollars a cup, you'll be searching a long time to find a cheaper, better cup. To top it off, the counter staff has always been super helpful, friendly and informative. They know the area and will be more than willing to recommend things to do or chat about whatever you choose, which is always a plus. read more

Now, I unfortunately think Oslo's drip coffee is just okay. But, I am admittedly a snob. When the right person is working (like the Venezuelan lady), the americanos are perfect and delicious. Some other employees make them tasty, but just seem to let the espresso pour too fast. One of the main reasons I go here (other than the fact that it's a 5 minute walk-- but I do pass several other places for coffee to get here) is that it's a really nice place to hang out and chat or read. Unlike other neighborhood coffee shops, there is no wifi, which is awesome. This means: no creepy dead silence, save the quiet clattering of macbook keys, making you too uncomfortable to say a peep. Also, there is usually plenty of seating, because people aren't camping out in there "working" all day long. The only complaint in this department is that the baby contingent can't get a little overwhelming. I don't blame the parents-- I'd probably like somewhere to hang out with child if I had one-- but it just means there are certain times I can't stand to be in there. Oh, as for the beans for sale-- go for the limited run batches. They tend to be far better than the Freya/ Odin/ etc they always have on offer. Oslo, I really really like you. Oslos coffee is so good and so strong, its hard to drink anything else after you take your palette to this level. However, about the shop itself: It's not a place I'd ever sit down to chat or read, etc. The space is cold and looks cluttered and messy. There is no storage space or something, so all the boxes and supplies are are strewn throughout the cafe and the giant roasting machine? looks like it collects dust and is a just another surface to put stuff on. Minus one star for not having wifi. Everything else is awesome about this place. They have a big table at which you can sit for hours. The coffee is INCREDIBLE. And I had an unbelievable zucchini/mango/peach muffin there the other day. It might sound weird, but it was out of this world. Ever since a friend introduced me to this place, I've been walking here no matter how cold or rainy it is. And when you really want to get things done (i.e. not writing reviews on yelp or surfing facebook), it's a great place to work. read more

i love this place. i always take the time to develop a rapport with my local baristas as i like knowing whose vibe is getting downloaded into the cup of coffee that holds my personality hostage at the bottom of the cup. austin rocked a cortado my way one early afternoon and i've been in love ever since. i had NO idea what i wanted so i just said, "you choose." and he did and now i feel, like, jim jones kool-aid nervous every time i see him: "should i get one? should i not? should i get one? should i not?" the rest of the staff kills it too. i'm a roebling-ite, i rarely hit south bedford for fear of death by a DMB fixed gear delivery geek. i recognize that my chances of getting a cortado from greg allman are higher if i go over there... thanks to the oslo tribe. and who are these pedantic whiners who claim the staff is rude. i love oslo - fantastic iced coffee and some good iced tea selections. their iced soy latte is my go-to. they have odwalla juices, but it would be perfection if they carried some small yogurts (fage or chobani, maybe?) in addition to pastries. i'm only giving it four stars given how many children tend to be running around... also it's cash only, which can be a minor pain. read more

This is probably ground zero for hipsters and they don't take credit cards (Hello...have you heard of Square) along with no wifi and very little seating. Olso is an awesome little coffee shop in Williamsburg with excellent decor, staff, and drinks. Their iced tea is amazing, their iced chai tea latte is even better! The only downside to Oslo is that I have to exclusively drink tea because their coffee is way too strong for me! It is so caffienated that I either get a stomach ache or I'm bouncing off the walls! Oslo has the best coffee in Williamsburg. And the big tables near the front are a great place to spread out a newspaper and hang out.

I don't know much about coffee so I can't say much, but the prices are reasonable and it tastes good to me. My only complaint is that the lids don't stay on the cups very well which is SO annoying. I spilled coffee both all over myself and onto someone on the train yesterday because of it. arg!! read more

i always enjoy a cappucino or americano from oslo. it's a standard component in my weekend strolling and dog walking regime. Completely unrelated sidenote... their logo (an oval containing 'Oslo' in sans serif type) resembles 'Stewie Griffin'.
