So love this group of folks. Talk about honest and trustworthy. I left my car there this morning due to transmission issues. Once they checked it out and realized there was a sensor they wouldn't be able to replace, they didn't hesitate to call me and let me know. They recommended I go to a transmission shop and when I asked for a recommendation, they had one for me. I was able to pick up my car and head over to the other mechanic before the shops closed. The best part is I wasn't charged a crazy price like I would've been if I had gone to the Mazda dealership. I'm grateful for honest, hard-working mechanics who look out for their customers. If you need a great mechanic, this is the place. They won't take advantage of your circumstances and will do their best to get you the best deal around. read more

I will not go to any other car shop in Honolulu besides Oscar's. Now that I got that off my chest, I'll give you a couple anecdotes and some of my opinions. My first experience with Oscar's came when I first moved to the island and I needed and I needed a car inspection. As someone who first moved to the island I didn't know anywhere to go, every shop I went to had a three week wait for a simple inspection. Finally, in comes Oscar's who was able to get me in the same day (actually only a 30 minute wait) that I requested an inspection. They got me in and got me out in a quick fashion. Alright, second short story. My third time at Oscar's came after I noticed a knocking noise under my 4Runner which ended up being my muffler and piping being eaten away by rust from a couple years in Connecticut. I asked for a quote, the attendant said that they could only replace it with stock parts which would cost roughly $700 in parts and labor. Without me asking, he suggested I go up the street to a shop that specializes in muffler systems that would be much cheaper and, he added, provides a quality product. So I ran up the street and got a quote for $400, saving me $300. With all that being said, I think Oscar's proved to me that they are a trustworthy local business that presents their services in an expeditious and quality manner with integrity. Every person I have met there has been very friendly (including Oscar, who is the man) and honest. The prices are fair, and they won't hesitate to provide you with a better option if they believe someone could do it better, this alone ensures me that they operate with integrity. Anyone needing car service shouldn't hesitate to head to Oscar's. I would like to add, I did go there to replace all my shocks (also eaten away by rust from Connecticut) for a cost of about $400, parts and labor included. Just something else to hammer this review home. read more

I was having trouble with my Lexus and the Lexus service department was too busy to help me. I Yelped Battery Service and Oscars Auto Service cane up. I called and Oscar told me to bring the car in. It was pretty busy when I got there but Mike helped me right away. Although they weren't able to change my battery as my car is a hybrid, at least I knew what the problem was. Lexus Service never called me back that day! I had to call them the next day and gave them an ear full. Never going back there again! Oscar's service was supreme! Thank you Oscar & Mike! read more

My mom referred me to this shop. This is a small business located right across Pu'uhale Elementary School. They have always been very honest with the work that needs to be done. Just yesterday, I asked if I could get a safety check. The worker, Roger, explained to me that my tire was just about ready to blow & that since it's from Lex Brodies, I should head there to get it changed and see if they could get my safety check done at once so I don't need to keep going back and forth. That was very thoughtful of him, but I refuse to go to anywhere else other than Oscar's unless I HAVE to. They've been very good with time management each time I brought my car there. They also have a waiting area with strong AC just in case you're waiting around for a little ;) read more

Finding a good mechanic for ones car is more often a game of Russian Roulette. There's always a chance you're going to shoot yourself in the head. Over my 42 years in outside sales, driving many of my cars to the junkyard, I've been culled and gutted by many mechanics. My father had used Oscars for many years but I never thought to give them a try till this week. A friend of my mine also had some very "un"mechanic compliments so I thought, I may as well try them out. I highly recommend Oscars Auto Service as having the most honest, friendly, and sincere people I've ever dealt with. They know what they are doing and my car, I know finally, will be in good competent hands, even better than that ad that says "Your cars in good hands at "All____te."" Lastly, even better for my ol' pake' peace of mind, Oscars prices fairly. A job I would have to win the New Jersey lottery to pay the car dealer to handle, Oscars gave me a fair and affordable bill. I saved at least $200!!! Viva Las Vegas, here I come! read more

Good service. Only downfall is no AAA or military discount. Fast service with a smile though. read more

Fast friendly service. I got my safety check done on a walk-in basis with no hassles and with smiles all around. If you're looking for a great place for safety checks or general repairs, go to Oscar's! read more

The guys always fit me in the same or next day when I call. Prices that would be more than fair even on the mainland, especially considering how expensive things usually are on the island. Super polite and honest service with Bryan! read more

Hands down the BEST auto shop... ever. Oscar took me in as a walk in and went straight to work replacing my alternator/drive belt. He was patient, pleasant, and a good talker. Definitely unlike all the other grumpy mechanics at the other shops I've taken my car in to. Thanks for the honest and quick service Oscar!! read more

Visiting my son At Hickam AF base I noticed his 2011 Durango was leaking a lot of oil. Called Oscars auto service asked he could possibly get this fixed on Monday 8/16 because I was leaving back to mn Tuesday and he needed someone to pick up car with him . Hector was awesome got the car fixed Monday afternoon the bill was less than he quoted and he topped off all the fluids. I Highly recommend Oscars auto service. I'm a retired mechanic and he was awesome. Thanks again to Hector and his team. Sincerely, Mike read more

I've been coming here for a few years now and was never disappointed. I found this place though my friend who is Oscar's niece haha. I absolutely have no idea about car maintenance and what not, but Oscar and his staff always took care of my car. I had to change my brakes one year, and a timing belt at another, then my tires this past year; all of which they gave me a reasonable and affordable price for their service. They are all pretty chill people too! Always friendly, especially Uncle Oscar. I come here every year to get my safety checks too. Great people and service :) read more

I was lucky to have learned of these guys. Mike is my guy and I feel he can be trusted after the service I have received from him. The rest of the staff there that I noticed in passing seems like a great team of guys that do their best to take care of the customers as an all around team. It's nice to see a group of hard working guys enjoy what they're doing and work together. I had a shop that I went to PRIOR to knowing Oscar's and I received decent care, but defective parts and then a long hassle to get the parts replaced out to correct the issue! That shop still hasn't replaced the parts! I rather get it replaced at Oscar's but need to wait due to budget. Long story short, I don't feel like I would ever have this experience with Oscars :) I have been referring people to these guys and look forward to continuing my car care needs with them! Thank you for everything Oscar's! read more

I had our work truck break down(dead fuel pump)and got turned down by a couple of other shops in the area but oscars came through and did it no problem. Also the price was actually a lot lower than competitors. read more

I've been here a couple times already and I never wanted to post about them because I wanted to keep them my secret. However the service is so fabulous that I have to share! They are quick and amazingly priced but most of all fabulous service. Hector is the guy to see! Thank you as always! Nice to feel assisted by someone honest, helpful and kind. read more

Helped me out with vehicle safety on my lunch break on a walk in basis! Even loaned me some tools to make a minor correction in order to be in compliance. AWESOME! Going back with my second vehicle, will keep supporting these guys, because they gave me support. read more

I love Oscars! They're very reliable, very quick, and the workers are friendly. My mom first recommended them to me because they were good and their prices were affordable. I don't know anything about cars, so I like that they always explain to me what's wrong or what I need. Also, there were several times I took my car in to get serviced, and they found out something needed to be replaced or fixed. Each time, they've always had the replacement parts my car needed on hand in their warehouse, so I've never had to leave my car at the shop overnight; they were able to pickup the part and fix my car in the same sitting. I will definitely keep bringing my car here! read more

Came here with a truck that's been sitting for a while and Bryan helped me out and fixed it up with no bullsh** charges. He's a top class mechanic in my book and would recommend him to any friend or family. Can't speak for the rest of the shop but the service with him was great from start to finish. read more

It is so hard to find an honest mechanic and those at Oscar's Auto Service are definitely not very honest. I called and asked them how much it would cost for them to refill my freon for my air conditioning and they told me "a few bucks". My bill was actually almost $100 for a task that I believe most mechanics would not even charge half of that. And it took them nearly five hours for completion. This is not a place I would ever visit or take my business to again. I recommend that no one go here. It was a mistake since my regular mechanic was off island on vacation. I should have waited. read more

My husband and I live on Kauai. We were trying to decide whether or not to purchase a used car from a dealership in Honolulu. We needed someone to check it out for us and Bryan came highly recommended. We asked him to check it out and he was kind enough to accommodate us on very short notice. He was very professional, polite, thorough and, in the end, saved us from purchasing a vehicle with a massive oil leak that would have been VERY costly to repair. Seriously! If I could give Bryan more than 5 stars, I would. I really appreciate his honesty and candor and will absolutely send any business I possibly can to him in the future. read more

Oscar's is great. Hector was our mechanic and he took good care of us. There was good communication between us and them, and they fixed the terrible screeching problem with our starter. Definitely nothing to complain about here. We will be (and have been) going back! read more

I'm not a rich woman but I needed a ton of work done to my 12 year old pickup. These guys are really knowledgeable and aren't out to rip you off. Everyone is personable and go out of their way to give you excellent customer service. OR maybe that's just the way they are! read more

Friendly staff, reasonable rates and always excellent customer service with great time service! When you pull into Oscar's, they treat you like family there! I have, on several occasions, pulled into their lot while they were cleaning up for the evening (actually closed) to have them check out something "suspicious," in my opinion, and they always stop cleaning and tend to my needs... if they find something that is awry and there is a "quick fix," they will do it, when if they've closed for the evening - if they can't, they will do what they can for me to come back the next day! read more

Here for my bi-annual servicing, oil change, fluid checks, the usual. I am never disappointed when I leave this place. The staff is super friendly and knowledgable. The prices are reasonable and one of the main reasons I keep coming backing is the owner Oscar. He is very personable and compassionate, very friendly and eager to help. Always remembers your name and seems to genuinely care how you are doing. Everyone should definitely some here for the auto issues!! read more

I bring my vehicles here for everything. There was never one time where someone wasn't available to diagnose my vehicle on the spot, no matter how busy they were. They've fixed literally everything on my car, because let me tell you, there's everything wrong with my car! They're very quick with everything they do no usually don't have to wait too long. And they're all very friendly. I have to mention Brian because he is always there and usually is the one that checks out my car. He's the best! read more

This is my friendly neighborhood garage with honest, skilled, courteous employees giving me a great value. What a keeper.

Oscar's auto is an excellent shop that I've been using for ten years. I know his prices are good, because he charged $100 less than Lex Brodie's for the exact same alternator repair I needed done on an old Honda. Very friendly, professional, on time, and I've recommended him several times. read more

Oscar's is great! This place was recommended to me by a friend. I've driven in just to ask a question, and they immediately come to take a look. Needed some major repairs done and they gave me an estimated price range, depending on where they could get the parts. Cost came in at the low end, and my vehicle has never driven better! Mike, Brian and Hector have all been very professional and helpful. And I've never been treated like a clueless female, here. I will definitely bring my car back, and I'll certainly be recommending them to anyone who needs work done! read more

Brought my truck on for safety check. Had my windshield wipers changed, and got my tire pressure sensors reset. Quick and good.

Honest mechanics who know what they're doing and won't cheat you. What more could you want? Smart, honest, and hard-working. And they're honest mechanics. Did I say honest yet? You get the picture. read more

Awesome customer service. Loyal and honest employees. Highly recommend this place. They're so busy and short staff, but still willing to check the problem of my car and fix it asap. LEX Brodies ripped me off big time. read more

Came here to have a pre-purchase inspection completed on a vehicle I was considering buying. I was greeted by Oscar and was immediately impressed by his attitude. He knew I was considering buying the vehicle and asked about the overall vehicle history and purchase before even inspecting the car. I truly felt he had my best interest in mind. After inspecting the vehicle he had one of his mechanics take it on a test drive with me in the car to make sure it had no other issues. All-in-all it was a quick and easy inspection that left me much more confident in my purchase. Most surprising was that, as a first-time customer, Oscar did not even charge me for the service. I recommend this shop to anyone in town looking for honest, exceptional service. We will be back whenever we need auto services in the future. read more

Don't come to this place while they're on lunch, which is around 1pm. They'll turn you away. Went in for safety check, all 10+ workers eating and no one acknowledged. I asked about a safety check and they told me to come back. This is my second trip to them this week. I asked if it was going to be the same the following day. "We don't know. We don't know when we will be hungry again," was the response I got. Very unprofessional. Apparently not 1 of them could do what I needed until lunch was done. And there were no other customers waiting. Such a shame too. Been a loyal customer for all my car needs for the last 6 years with my car. read more

Never coming back here again. They are dishonest and overcharging. I had two more car problems since January. One of them involving my power steering pump after they just "replaced" my power steering hose. When i got it back, I noticed a super charge sound driving home, looking under my hood, my whole power steering line and pump was leaking and THAT needed to be replaced.. went to a different shop, and they said I got scammed $500. Anyway I got that done and I was charged again only $400. Never again. read more

Called for a ballpark on having my parking brake repaired - mind you, my brother is a mechanic. I would just take my vehicles to him if he lived on island. Was told "starting" cost would be $350-450. WHAT??? And if I needed my brakes adjusted it would be more! Rear brake adjustment uses 1 tool & takes 10 minutes! I don't know if it's because I'm female & the usual mechanics think females are clueless, but there is NO WAY I'd ever even consider taking my car here. Con/rip-off artists. read more

if someone is charging $350 to $450 to change the front brakes then you are getting ripped off. you can purchase a set of front brakes for $50 or less it takes max 30 minutes, now if you are changing the rotors and front brakes then the parts are around $150 - $200 takes about 1 to 1.15 hours max lets say even at $90 an hour then total should not be more than $300 -$325 max rear brakes are different for drums and brake shoes maybe $400 read more

Having now had 2 cars serviced at Oscar's (my car twice and my fiance's once) I can say with experience and confidence that their service is top notch. Just today I took my 91' Honda civic in (with no appointment) a little before 1pm. I called before I got there and asked for a rough estimate on how long the whole process would take. I was told by Hector that it would be around 3 hours. Not too shabby for no appointment and with it being a Friday. And what time was my car ready by? Just after 4pm. Mike (who was the main mechanic that helped me) had also called after his initial assessment of my car to inform me of what needed to be done, how much it would be, and how long it would take. He actually asked when I needed the car, instead of just telling me when it would be ready by. Both Mike and Hector were professional each time I spoke with them. They were friendly and informative without every making me feel like I knew nothing about cars--(which I have probably the most limited knowledge on). Also---for the work they did on my car today, another auto service company would have charged me at least $200 more! read more

I've been going to Oscar's for all my major car problems. They were recommended to me by a friend. Bryan has always been the one I go to for help and in the past they have always taken care of my car and treated me respectfully. Bryan always walked me through the work that needed to be done and showed it to me on my car when it was on the lift. I've always felt that they have given me fair prices as well. They even offered me a finance plan when the bill to change my brake/gas lines (they were leaking from rust damage due to salt on the roads from winters in Chicago) was too steep for me to pay all at once. Overall I've spent close to $2500 at Oscar's shop. It was only recently I've felt their service has declined. I had my car towed several months back to their shop because it wouldn't start. Oscar charged me $400 to put in a new starter. It seemed expensive to me, but it was either that or tow my car to a different shop. Today my car had trouble starting and I knew it was the alternator. I took my car in and this time Mike helped me. He told me it would cost $450 for the job. I asked him for a break down of the cost, which he gave me, but when I told him I wanted to take the car I got the vibe that he was trying to pressure me into getting work done. He told me the charge wouldn't hold (which I knew) and that it might stall on me while I'm driving and that I would get stuck. I said, "Okay, thanks," then he tells me he has to charge me $25 for diagnosing my car. I've never been charged at Oscar's when they diagnosed my car in the past. Even when they didn't do any work. I feel that I'm being treated as just another dollar sign. Sorry to say, I'd rather bring my car elsewhere. read more
