Don't go here. Got a regular manicure and the instruments weren't sanitized, and the nail tech didn't wipe down the table or even put down a paper towel. She didn't wear gloves or sanitize her hands before either. My nails were uneven and the paint job wasn't great, smudged in places. The nail tech was brusque and answered my questions with grunts as if she was annoyed at having to do my nails. After the last visit to another salon, I decided to walk into Oscar Nails for a nail repair and acrylic fill. I was seen by Brenda who was very kind, sweet and attentive. She convinced me to return to powder gel nails after getting acrylic for the past 4 months and she truly recommended it based on what was best for my lifestyle and health for my nails. From that first experience, Oscar Nails won me over. Before the end of my appointment, I became friendly with the owner and a few of the other nail technicians through friendly conversation and I was pleasantly surprised as it is so rare to find a business that provides that human connection anymore. Since then, I have been a loyal customer of Oscar. Everytime I walk in, I am recognized and greeted by my name and I only go once a month! Speaking of once a month, the quality of the work speaks for itself. I am able to go 4-5 weeks max on my powder gel manicure and the price is extremely reasonable. My Biggest issue was when I asked her to fix my nails she No. and that the issue I had sometimes happen and not to touch it HUH???? Mandatory temperature checks and hand washing station upon entering, along with appointment only scheduling which reduces the chance of cross contamination. Gigi is my go to girl and she is so thorough with any service she provides whether it's a regular mani, powder nails, UV gel or acrylic. They also talk bad about customers in their language right in front of them. It's easy to tell they just want your money. I didn't expect or deserve any rudeness with the service. At Oscars, I have never once experienced poor service, poor quality of nails or poor treatment - keep in mind I have been coming here for well over 10 years. Even if you have to wait 10+ minutes it is worth the wait, and they will also let you know a time later that day if you'd like to schedule an appointment to ensure you are seen/cared for. The staff is always willing to meet my personal preferences. The amount of times I've switched a nail color mid-paint and not been penalized is truly appreciated. The facility all around is always in pristine condition which is essential when getting your nails done. Recently, the salon was updated to make the overall experience more relaxing and to adapt to more modern nail technologies (the powder gel) To sum it up, I have an incredibly busy schedule and what makes my overall experience a 5 star rating is that the staff is ALWAYS willing to accommodate me and my hectic schedule. ** I am so sorry for those of you who have had a negative experience while at Oscars. I AM NOT A PETTY PERSON. I really am one to respect those of any profession because working and grinding for money is HARD, no matter what you're doing. On that note, I came with my mother (who is visiting from the other side of the world), so I can treat her to get our nails and toes done. We were told to pick out colors and the wait would be short, but after 10 minutes, they took in 3 people ahead of us. Extremely disappointed. I walked in with my girlfriend because we were looking at all of the places in Francis Lewis Blvd to compare the prices and see what brand nail polish they use. As soon as we walked in we asked for a brocure/menu that we could look at and we were pointed towards a menu on the wall. I can understand if its slow and theres a wait but girl, at least have the decency to let me know how long itll be and go to the back and play Then when she actually started working on my nails, she over filed the nails that had no product left, and under filed the ones that needed more attention. THEN she pulled out cuticle cutters and a METROCARD????? To try to take off the glue from the tips that were left over?????? GIIRRRRLL. no. Hell no. AND she jabbed me with the cuticle cutters and metrocard so many times and never apologized once even when i was in visible pain. I'm giving this place four stars because I've been searching for a place that does good acrylics and at a decent price and Oscar Nails is definitely the place! I've had acrylics done there twice so far, once before going away to Paris and once during the holiday season. I was in Paris for four months and can say the first two and half weeks I had my acrylics on were amazing they looked perfect!!! Both times I've gotten them done with Jason and he's definitely the best, I didn't want them being too long because I hate when they look like too crazy but Jason did them perfectly both times!!! My friend made appointments for us to go there today to get gel manicures. When we got in, we were asked if we wanted pedis as well. We were unsure and were debating whether or not to get them. When we decided to get pedis as well, the nail techs brought us to the chairs and as we were walking, spoke mandarin to each other about how indecisive and dumb we were. I am Chinese and I was with a friend who was white. I told my friend what she said and although it was kinda uncalled for and were shocked about it, we were still understanding. We did take a while to decide what color and decide if we wanted a pedi. However, they continued to complain and talk about us. As they were doing the pedi, another customer tipped one of the ladies. She said thank you to her but then in mandarin complained how cheap the customer was and how $3 was nothing. They finished our pedis in 10 minutes, super rushed and almost not even caring. Once we were doing our gel manicure, they continued to gossip and complain about us IN FRONT OF ME. My lady would compliment my nail color and then in Chinese say how ugly it was. She would complain about how stupid my friend was and in Chinese say how "once dumb, always dumb". My nail tech told me to wash my hands and then quickly tell take it back. In Chinese she said "I'm not even going to let her wash her hands". Then my friends nail tech would say "if you're not letting her then I'm not letting her either". She finished my gel nails in like 20 minutes, told me to pay and when I was going through my bag to find my wallet she'll say "wow look at her and how she doesn't even want to pay". After our terrible experience, my friend told the manager that I could understand everything and it wasn't so nice. She didn't even look us in our faces and just said sorry with an attitude. I have never felt so mistreated and never received such TERRIBLE service. We were nothing but polite during the whole time but yet they were talking about us in front of me. We didn't even get the full service that we were supposed to (friend didn't even get cuticle oil, didn't get washed, pedi was sloppy, gel mani was glumpy) I will never come back and do not recommend this to anyone. read more

I want to start by saying that I've never left a bad review in my life, but if I could give Oscar less than one star, I would. Aside from the rushed and sloppy mani/pedi, the manager and nail techs were talking shit about me and my friend in Chinese the entire time. They asked us if we wanted a pedicure with our gel manicures, and we asked if we could have a few minutes to think about it. When they asked again and we said we wanted pedicures, they began talking to each other in mandarin about how dumb and indecisive we were. My friend is Chinese and understood everything they were saying. While painting my toenails, my nail tech received a tip from another customer and immediately began complaining about how cheap she was. During my manicure they told me they didn't have the color I'd chosen. I was talking to my friend about which color I should choose instead, and the nail tech began mocking me in Chinese, and continued to talk about how stupid I was and how ugly my friend's nail polish color was. Later on she gave me the instruction to dry my nails but I hadn't heard her. When I asked her to repeat herself, she told the other nail tech again that I was stupid, and she replied "Once stupid, always stupid". Typically during a gel manicure, the nail tech will have you wash your hands before the final coat. Our nails techs were talking about how they weren't going to let us wash our hands because of how dumb and clumsy we were. My nail tech also did not give me cuticle oil or lotion. When my friend was looking in her purse for her wallet to pay, they began complaining that she was taking too long and that she didn't want to pay. On top of all of this, my nails are uneven, the color is splotchy, and the entire process was rushed and incomplete (even though the salon was nearly empty when we walked in- there was no reason to be rushing through everything). I've worked many customer service jobs before, so I would never be rude or disrespectful to an employee. From the moment we walked in, my friend and I were extremely polite and very apologetic about any indecisiveness, but they continued to gossip about us right in front of us. I have never felt so disrespected, and will never return to Oscar Nails. read more
