Pale microwaved chicken and rice with no crispy bits or char.
    Britt B.

Osaka served me absolute garbage today. I am quite certain that if I had eaten it, I would have gotten sick. I used to live nearby and Osaka was known to be the crème de la crème in the Mill Creek area. They got so popular that the owner had to sell because she felt like she was getting carpal tunnel. I know that because I found her in her new restaurant a couple towns over and she told me. She also said that they sold the recipes to the new owner. Granted this was about 3-4 years ago that I talked to her, so I'm not sure if these are still those same "new" owners or someone else, but figured how different could it be? Suffice it to say that this was nothing like the Osaka I used to know. When I walked in, it was completely empty, and I stood there for several minutes until someone finally came from the back room and asked for my order. I ordered chicken teriyaki which was $13.99 - which may be on the high side for lunch time but still reasonable. I wanted to upgrade to brown rice but they charged a whopping $3.50 so I stuck with white rice. She then asked me to pay cash to avoid a surcharge for using a card. One lunch teriyaki and a can of soda plus tip was $20 because I paid cash. As soon as I sat down, I heard the unmistakable beeping of a microwave. Oh, I thought... "I hope that's not for me"... But sure enough within seconds, my food came out. It wasn't even minutes, it was seconds - I hadn't even gotten my jacket off yet. Osaka used to serve dine-in orders on largest ceramic white plates, but this came in a plastic containers just like take out. I opened it and I IMMEDIATELY smelled the off putting smell of microwaved chicken. It smelled putrid and had no discernible char on it. Normally, I'm someone who will talk to the restaurant before blasting them on Yelp, especially if it's a small family owned restaurant, but this was so egregious that I just walked out and here I am. I left the chicken completely untouched and on the table just like in this pic. The rice also smelled funky. I ate the salad but it was over the top watery and I wish I hadn't. I'm certain I was sold the leftovers from yesterday. I know that smell and I heard them nuke it. And as I now sit here at Thai Bistro down the street, I'm still sickened to think that they sell food in that condition to people.

Beer can teriyaki container comparison. I'm not crazy. It's a tiny box.

Updating review to 5 stars. The guy is funny. He has funny pricing. But he's the only one I've ever found who makes a chicken breast katsu. His food is good too. And I've learned he a nice man. You have to order large size if you want traditional big American portions.

For the price its soo much food. The food quality is good and when you buy one entree you get a free soda! So every entree you get one free drink each. It is so good! Hope you guys try it out and enjoy!

YUM. I was in denial about this place right up until the food was brought out. I didn't think it would be that good. But it was! Portions are really big and the presentation of food is on point. I got the chicken teriyaki and it was wonderful! The chicken is fresh and cooked the right way. It has that slightly tougher outside with a soft, tender inside that is juicy and full of flavor! That's how chicken should be. They know how to do it here. The sauce is perfect too. It comes with sticky rice that you can tell is cooked the right way without shortcuts. So tasty. It also comes with a basic salad. All for just under $10. Great deal. I will be back to try the Mongolian Beef! Authentic place but not my favorite atmosphere. I give this place 4.5 stars.

I repeat. DO NOT GO HERE!!!

Horrible I tried to order DoorDash again from this place and found bugs in my food. Literally I sound fruit flies in my rice please absolutely disgusting do not go here!!!

Bento box and chicken breast teriyaki ... Great teriyaki!!

I thoroughly enjoyed my teriyaki! It's not very often I gamble with teriyaki, but decided to with Osaka. I ordered the chicken breast teriyaki which was on special for $8.49. Normally I would find this expensive for teriyaki. My local teriyaki prices their chicken breast at $7.99 and the portion seems to be bigger than Osaka. That's the only reason I'm knocking it down a star. Overall the quality and flavor was great. I quite enjoyed it. It was a good change, and I found it to be very tasty! I will be back, but next time I will try the spicy!

And the only staff member serving that day was so efficient, and in spite of her load, she was still very friendly. All decked in smiles! The food was also outstanding! I have always seen Japanese shows where the characters always eat potato salad (poteto sarada). I can scratch that off my bucket list... LOL! Everything else just tasted so good! In fact, we recommended this to two close families of ours in Seattle and they also sampled the food and loved our recommendation! The place is beautifully decorated. With enough light from the storefronts that won't make you squint at the menu. Lots of room on the tables and to move around. My family and I love this place... We're sure you'll love it too! Come try them out!

The noodles were probably…read moremy favorite part--cooked perfectly with that chewy, bouncy texture you want from good udon. The Japanese curry was flavorful with a little kick, and it was nice and thick. Personally, that's exactly how I like Japanese curry, and many other things. The interior is clean, modern, bright, and open, which makes the restaurant feel comfortable and welcoming. Service was just okay. My lunch date wanted a substitution, but there seemed to be some confusion and we ended up being charged for an additional side of potato salad. Normally, no big deal, but nearly $8 for a scoop of potato salad felt pretty steep. Overall, I enjoyed the food, but pricing is definitely on the higher side for what feels like a quick lunch. With tip, we were pushing $75 for two people, which makes it harder to call this a casual lunch spot. Also, street parking around here can be a bit of a challenge during the lunch rush. Good curry and udon, nice atmosphere, but bring your appetite--and your wallet.

In short The vibe is all friendly neighborhood joint, but…read morethe fish (especially the sashimi) is excellent. Hard to beat this place. In long We've been meaning to try it forever and finally dragged our carcasses in here when we were coming back from an afternoon up north. Quiet Sunday night on Thanksgiving weekend, and we scored perfect parking and got a table instantly. So we're already in a great mood, right? It's a shoebox-shaped room with a few extra tables in one corner. Newish strip mall construction. You can come in from either end, which I would not have guessed. It's sparkling clean and well lit with some nice warmth to the lighting. Big flatscreens behind the sushi bar, probably tuned to the ballgame or the news or something. The menu feels comfortingly familiar. The usual apps, solid list of sashimi, lots of classic rolls and then a couple full pages of specialty rolls. Matcha for later. So far you don't feel like you're in crazy territory, though they do list hamachi collar as an all-the-time hot dish, which is cool. So many places run out of it right away and list it only as a special, but not here. The sake list is just enough--a couple of each type, some solid and reasonably-priced house options, a couple really nice picks. You get your sake right away and the miso doesn't take much longer. The takoyaki was delicious and beautiful. Lots of garnish, boiling hot, great flavor. Nice tako bits in there, lots of creamy filling. They garnish the seaweed salad with daikon and load it with cucumber. More places should do both of these things. The cucumber in particular enhanced the flavor a ton. Once the rolls showed up, things got better and better. The Love Hunter and the Amazing were both fantastic. Great combinations of flavors and textures, generously portioned and topped. We got some classic taki too, and that was a great contrast. I love it so much when places nail the classics and the modern. I got the deluxe sashimi dinner. For $36 this is such a value. The hamachi and the other tuna were both super buttery, the salmon had tons of flavor, and there were a couple other nice fish on the plate as well. It's great when you find a place you're super happy you tried, but this immediately goes into the rotation as an any-night sushi spot. Affordable enough you don't have to wait for a special occasion! Dig this place hard.
