Cajun BBQ Lo Mein
Rio M.

This restaurant is in a small town and it might just be the best one in the area. I'm very leery of seafood in cities not by the water but they did an excellent job with the flavors. It truly tasted like upscale New Orleans cuisine and the restaurant itself was beautiful. They have live music as well. We of course had to try the beignets and I wanted to order a second one they were so good. As well had the blackened salmon that was perfectly cooked and not dry. The sides were absolutely delicious and the veggies were fresh and seasoned, not a mushy afterthought. My fiancé had the Cajun bbq shrimp lo mein (I believe the was the name) he absolutely loved it. His shrimp was seasoned so well. The server although a little slow, was really nice. Overall did have a welcoming staff as well. All in all passes the vibe check and is perfect for a date night in a cute part of town. Will definitely be returning!

Fried Green Tomatoes

This is a great Southern and Cajun Food restaurant. The atmosphere and decor at the restaurant was great, and my sever (Richard) was incredible. I began my meal with the Fried Green Tomato appetizer, it was outstanding. I tried two drinks, The Hurricane and an Old Fashion; both drinks were outstanding. The Old Fashion was one of the best Old Fashions I have ever tried. For an entree I ordered Shrimp Étouffée, with a side of gumbo and red beans and rice. The entree and sides were exceptional. This restaurant and food are top-notch. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Had an amazing lunch! Our server, amethyst was really good. She answered all questions as well as checked on us several times to make sure everything was OK. The decor was very stylish upscale and comfortable. My food was delicious as well as everyone else in the party. My favorite was the jambalaya. I also enjoyed the hush puppies. I was delighted to find out the veggies were seasoned. Definitely recommend this restaurant.

It's a beautiful restaurant and it hasn't lovely atmosphere especially on a Friday evening. I like to sit at the bar because I think it's more social and the bartenders are very friendly. Today I sat at a table/booth with my daughter and her husband. I used to go to New Orleans Quite often with my husband. I was glad to see a restaurant with Orleans flavors. tonight, I had the Creole shrimp over rice and it was just the right amount of spice to give it heat but not overpowering. I like the tomato based broth with nice chunks of tomato. The shrimp were a nice two bites size. I also tried the gumbo and I really enjoyed that and the spice was just right as well. I ordered in fried green tomato appetizer, but I would say, I prefer mine fried with flour and not cornmeal. The cornmeal makes it a bit tough, and less flavor of the tomato but that's just my taste. We also had the crab dip which I thought was kind of plain tasting, but my daughter said she liked it. The chips were a bit over fried and greasy. My son-in-law ordered the fish and he said it was delicious. I did take a bite of his fish and I have to agree. It was very good. I would say I might order that the next time. Overall, the restaurant is lovely and the staff is very friendly and I'm glad they're here and will try more dishes.

I've been to Orleans on several occasions. Never had a bad experience. Ambiance is fantastic, clean facility, friendly staff, delicious food, exceptional wait time. We've gone without reservations & was seated in a timely manner. This is one of the few places we bring our out of town guests to.

Great place in Perry. Southern cuisine, we got to order and try 7 dishes. All of them were pretty good, personal favorites were the pork chop, perch, and the hush puppies. Jambalaya was pretty salty, but overall everything was good. Service was spot on and great prices were pretty fair.

The foundation is still there with the rooms and decor but with lots of tables set up, similar to hosting a gathering at home. Not only that, everyone here was really friendly! We really felt welcomed, and though the second time, service wasn't as outstanding, it was still good. I think they really nailed down the vibe of southern hospitality. For drinks, they have seasonal cocktails, which I think is fun, but I'm not around at a time where I would be able to chill and drink. I end up with a go-to sweet tea. Strong and sweet, that it kept me up, but not the strongest nor sweetest I've had. There's also complimentary bread that's mini muffin shaped and dense like a biscuit. It's buttery and salty, but I like it! Before coming, I saw so many things about the sampler, so I definitely wanted to get it and try out. Love the fried green tomatoes with the honey mustard. It didn't feel oily, and it held up pretty well when cut and dipped into sauce. The pimento cheese here is probably the best I've ever had, but I will admit that I have not had many (I tend to not like it). In fact, both these items stay on my mind enough that I do think about coming here more often than I thought I would. And this is just for the apps. The rest of the entrees are pretty standard. Some better than others, but that's due to preference. I haven't gone through the whole menu, but I do prefer their chicken to some of the other menu items. For their sides, I haven't seen or heard of some of them. I asked about them, and they were described p well, enough for me to not want to try congealed salad. I'm not a big fan of jello type things, but I did try the pear salad. Not for me. Absolutely not for me. I did really enjoy the collard green soup and sweet potato souffle though! They were great, esp the souffle. It was my first time having nuts in them, and I loved it so much. Everything else was alright, like I'm sure you've had or can make better mac. Overall, I'm glad to know this place because it's a good rec for the area if you're in the mood for Southern food. It's not a bad pick for vegetarians either, though they would only have appetizers and sides to pick from, but I liked them more than the entrees. There's a parking lot, and it's in a good location to see the rest of downtown Perry too.

Driving North from Florida, we wanted dinner and preferred not fast food, but good food served efficiently. Well we hit that out of the park by ending up at The Oil Lamp. My friend had the chicken & mashed potatoes (these are the real deal!!). I had the beef tips on gravy over mashed potatoes. We shared sides of braised cabbage that had a fair amount of garlic - I will be thinking about it, yes thinking about cabbage - first time for everything. We also shared creamed corn and this is NOT from a can. The corn was so sweet and there was a crunch to it, which only fresh corn can give. Everything looked delicious. I eyed those desserts, but I'd finished my plate and just no more room. I live like 4 hours away, but I'm hoping to time my return trip to return to this gem. We ordered the rib-eye meal which comes with a side and bread but you can add whatever you want! I think it was $29, which at first seemed a little expensive, but my brother and friends assured me was definitely worth it! We also grabbed a drink and some dessert. All of the employees were very kind and welcoming. We went right at 5 on a Thursday evening so there was plenty of seating. The tables were big and there was room for all 10 of us (that's why we went early!) The food...was amazing! The steak was PERFECT. I asked for it medium and it was medium. So tender and flavorful! My brother wasn't lying when he said it was worth it. I also had the loaded mashed potatoes - excellent, biscuit-yummy, and the chocolate peanut butter pie- OH MY! I will definitely be returning to this establishment. We really enjoyed it.

Disappointing, but I understand and quickly assessed my lunch options. We decided to order an appetizer and then split a lunch plate. For the appetizer we got the loaded fries, since they were hand cut as we were sitting there. Overall the loaded fries were okay. I think they went too heavy on the cheese and the other noticeable thing was that the cinnamon in the chili was a little stronger than I would have liked. For lunch it was a Big Sexy Burger which had a double burger, pimento cheese, bacon jam and maybe some other stuff. But those items mentioned sold me on trying it. My only criticism about the burger would be the pimento cheese, it seemed to be heavy on the mayo and not as much cheese, but overall a decent burger. I think the real star of the meal was the onion rings, I would definitely recommend these. Now that we tried their lunch, I am looking forward to trying their breakfast menu.

Three years, that's how long I've been driving past the giant billboards for Lane Southern Orchards…read moreon I-75 telling myself "one day we should stop there." Well, this past Saturday my husband and I finally did. The entire property felt like a scene straight out of a Southern postcard. Families were out picking strawberries in the patch, people were relaxing in rocking chairs on the porch with ice cream cones, the café was buzzing, and the roadside market was full of shoppers loading up on goodies. The place was busy but somehow still relaxing. We started in the roadside market where I immediately grabbed one of the little carts because self-control clearly wasn't part of the plan. I stocked up on fresh produce, preserves, ciders, wines, and somehow convinced myself I "needed" adorable wooden earrings from a local artisan. We sampled a few local wines and naturally left with several bottles. The market also has gifts, souvenirs, and and entire section dedicated to dogs/ furry pets. After shopping we headed next door to the café for dessert. They offer cobblers, cakes, pies, homemade ice cream, and enough sweet treats to make you abandon every diet plan you've ever created. My husband is a peach cobbler enthusiast, so ordering their famous peach cobbler was mandatory. According to him, it absolutely lived up to the hype. I went with the peach pound cake and it was moist, buttery, and delicious. Their breakfast and lunch menu also looked really good. If I were road-tripping through the area, this would absolutely be a stop for a meal. It's also definitely going on my list of places to take guests when they come visit Middle Georgia. What really tied everything together was the staff. Everyone we encountered was warm, welcoming, and full of genuine Southern hospitality. Needless to say, we won't wait another three years before stopping again.

Haha from wine to candy even to dog toys they have you covered! The place was clean including the rest rooms. However, they lost stars due to staff. I wasn't given a friendly welcome by the greeter he kind of just stared at me and my kids when I smiled and said hello. Another was extremely helpful when I asked where the rest rooms were but when I returned found him chatting with another female employee and the greeter who openly and loudly said "here they come" when we were walking out of the hallway followed by a laugh from the female who turned her back on us. While I was checking out one employee was running around the checkout counter frantically waving a fly swatter around me and other patrons (he certainly wasn't a kid so no "he's just a nitwit kid" age appropriate excuse) then the bag boy (separate young man who was the only teenager in this whole experience) accused me of snatching the bags out of his hands which was incredibly uncalled for and simply not true. It stopped me in my tracks I said "oh I'm sorry I didn't realize or mean to I just was picking up my bags and gathering my kids" and he snapped back "whatever" rolled his eyes and shook his head. The cashier I had no problems with and was joking around with just prior so his attitude was highly unexpected and jarring. Unfortunately the employees left a very sour taste in my mouth and made me feel incredibly uncomfortable being there. I wish I could say I would go back because the store was so cute and there was so many fun things I would like to try but based off how I was treated and I hate leaving less than positive reviews but honestly I would not return.
