Stopped by New Orleans on Carroll Street and had a great meal. The fried chicken over creamy grits with gravy isn't on the menu, but it was recommended by a former worker and it did not disappoint. Crispy, flavorful chicken with smooth, buttery grits made for a perfect combo. The egg rolls were also solid with the dipping sauces. Overall, good food and a nice vibe. We ate here last evening and I want to start with the good first: the restaurant itself is stunning! Very sleek but warm at the same time. The outside is beautiful all lit up at night. It is very upscale! Our server was nice but not intrusive. We received refills on time and requests were honored very promptly. My daughter ordered a mixed drink and it was good, she also ordered the Chicken Avery and she really enjoyed it along with the garlic green beans. The not so good (in my opinion): I ordered shrimp and my husband ordered the ribeye with accompanying mac n cheese and baked potato. The Mac N Cheese was so soupy you needed a spoon to eat it. Soupy in a watery way not a cheesy way. Baked potatoes were just alright. The skin was great with salt & oil. The inside was either overcooked or not fresh. Several of us ordered the potato and we all felt the same. The $50 ribeye was bland and chewy. My shrimp were comparable to Captain D's . I hate to say that but when I tasted of them that's all I could think of. I think it had more to do with the breading than the actual taste of the shrimp themselves. It was my daughter's birthday and she ordered the crème brûlée. She enjoyed it. The top was nice and crunchy but not warm. The entire thing was cold which was odd. All of the food we received wasn't hot it was warm at best. This is probably a one and done for me just bc the price doesn't reflect the quality of the food. This is a nice spot in downtown Perry for a fancy dinner. The inside appears newly renovated and spacious. The only downside was that it could get a little loud inside and could use some additional noise insulation. Service was quick and really helpful. Our waiter was able to provide us with helpful recommendations on what to order and make side substitutions. The food was also delicious, especially the grouper, hush puppies, and garlic green beans. The fried fish basket however was a bit lacking and definitely not worth the price. The cocktails were average, would have appreciated more options. read more

This restaurant is in a small town and it might just be the best one in the area. I'm very leery of seafood in cities not by the water but they did an excellent job with the flavors. It truly tasted like upscale New Orleans cuisine and the restaurant itself was beautiful. They have live music as well. We of course had to try the beignets and I wanted to order a second one they were so good. As well had the blackened salmon that was perfectly cooked and not dry. The sides were absolutely delicious and the veggies were fresh and seasoned, not a mushy afterthought. My fiancé had the Cajun bbq shrimp lo mein (I believe the was the name) he absolutely loved it. His shrimp was seasoned so well. The server although a little slow, was really nice. Overall did have a welcoming staff as well. This is a great Southern and Cajun Food restaurant. The atmosphere and decor at the restaurant was great, and my sever (Richard) was incredible. I began my meal with the Fried Green Tomato appetizer, it was outstanding. I tried two drinks, The Hurricane and an Old Fashion; both drinks were outstanding. The Old Fashion was one of the best Old Fashions I have ever tried. For an entree I ordered Shrimp Étouffée, with a side of gumbo and red beans and rice. The entree and sides were exceptional. First off the waitress was good and tried her best to make our dinner pleasant. They gave us our menus, one which was a specials menu. I ordered their surf and turf. Well, several minutes later a lady, manager I suppose, told me they had given me the wrong menu and that they didn't have a surf and turf ‍. The waitress says I can get you a filet and a couple grilled shrimp. That's literally what the surf and turf was. I cut into my filet and it was as rare as rare could be. Appetizers were decent (fried okra spears and crab cakes) , entrees were meh ( chicken and sausage penne pasta with Cajun cream sauce, etoufee, jambalaya, shrimp and jalapeño grits). Limited draught beer options and pretty basic cocktails. Average food with average taste. Nothing to really make a person want to return again. The quality just did not live up to the price. It's a beautiful restaurant and it hasn't lovely atmosphere especially on a Friday evening. I like to sit at the bar because I think it's more social and the bartenders are very friendly. Today I sat at a table/booth with my daughter and her husband. I used to go to New Orleans Quite often with my husband. I was glad to see a restaurant with Orleans flavors. tonight, I had the Creole shrimp over rice and it was just the right amount of spice to give it heat but not overpowering. I like the tomato based broth with nice chunks of tomato. The shrimp were a nice two bites size. I also tried the gumbo and I really enjoyed that and the spice was just right as well. I ordered in fried green tomato appetizer, but I would say, I prefer mine fried with flour and not cornmeal. The cornmeal makes it a bit tough, and less flavor of the tomato but that's just my taste. We also had the crab dip which I thought was kind of plain tasting, but my daughter said she liked it. The chips were a bit over fried and greasy. My son-in-law ordered the fish and he said it was delicious. I did take a bite of his fish and I have to agree. It was very good. I would say I might order that the next time. Overall, the restaurant is lovely and the staff is very friendly and I'm glad they're here and will try more dishes. read more

On the way to Florida from Atlanta I found this little or rather big gem off 75. Upscale vibe mixed with casual had us feeling right at home. Our server, Stephanie was truly the highlight of the evening. She was fabulous!!! The sweetest and most helpful server I've ever had. She checked in frequently to ensure we were enjoying ourselves and made excellent recommendations! The mashed potatoes with chicken stock gravy was delicious! So savory and flavorful, I was thrilled with this side! We also go the Shrimp Po Boy and Perch Po Boy. Both items were so tasty! The perch was cooked to flaky perfection! Another great experience at this restaurant. The food was delicious, service was timely, and ambiance was calm. This visit I ordered to grouper special. To be honest, I wish the dish had a bit more fish, however, it was still very good. I ordered another Orleans sour which was my favorite on the drink menu. Finally, since I had some more room after my main, I ordered the banana pudding which was a big serving but the perfect way to end my meal. Bar tables are first come first serve and you are not seated by staff. Hostess with the least-est told me to move back. Uh, no. I just sat down and no one had waited on me at either table. The hostess then proceeded to drag my slightly larger table away to the other spot and drag the smaller table over to me. Rude. $7 beer no glass. Do I look like a bar slut? Bring me a glass. $14 small bowl of soup was ok. Annoyingly 3 waiter staff cover your table. Prepare to repeat yourself. One of them suggested the PoBoy with shrimp fried. Yuck but ok. $20 for a sandwich with a loaf-of-bread-sized bun that you want to remove half the bread from the sandwich. Was not quality bread and why so much? I love fries but couldn't choke down these cold hockey pucks. Down to dessert - crème brûlée. The best thing about this dessert is the caramelized top. When you dump soggy strawberries and a half a cup of whip cream on top, that pretty much dissolves the crunchy top making it Flan. $20. $100 for 2 soups, 2 domestic beers, 1 sandwich and 1 Flan. This isn't in Atlanta or N'awlins. New York prices in nowhere Perry, Georgia. Save yourself some bucks and an evening of subpar food. read more

In Perry for another RV function and had an evening in the town supporting the local establishments. Orleans was highly recommended by other attendees that had been there in previous years, so off we went. Took about 15-20 minutes to be seated, and patio seating to boot. Could have brought the pupper had we known. And apparently smoking is permitted on the patio, which caused us to relocate due to wind direction. Just be forewarned if you elect to sit outside. I ordered a Fall Line IPA that was very, very good and the server took our order. That's where things started to drift out of 5 star territory. Took quite a while to get the drinks for the table (Another couple sat with us since we had open chairs and there was a wait, so what the heck, right?) and we placed dinner orders. I ordered the shrimp and grits and Mama went for the Bangin' Bayou Shrimp. Again, took a while to be delivered but both items were delicious, especially the gravy on the Shrimp & Grits. Then our server disappeared for about 30 minutes. I even asked a manager if he'd been fired and nobody had let us know. She had another server take my order for a second IPA, and our regular server delivered it soon after. Then another disappearing act before we could get our checks. Again, a wait to get the checks back to us so we could leave. Excellent food, but the service left a lot to be desired. read more
