Fried chicken, chicken livers, fried green tomatoes, rutabagas, lima beans, mac and cheese, green beans - it was all good. Nothing overcooked or lacking n seasoning. Portions are large so we brought food home and had no room for desert. In this day of higher and higher prices, they have done a great job of offering tasty, plentiful food at a good price. I read other reviews: people focused on quantity not quality, so there's that. I'm just the opposite: quality is more important than quantity. My order was one meat & two veggies, which comes w/ drink & bread (a Parker Roll or Southern Style Corn Bread). Meat choices that night were Fried Chicken, Fried Fish & Salisbury Steak. I asked for a Fried Chicken Breast which was two small pieces. Outside was nice, crunchy & greasy & inside was moist - so the only thing I ate. My Cheese Grits were gloppy & flavorless. The Rutabagas had been cooked to death. The Cornbread was super dry. Covid-19 Safety Protocols: all the employees were masked up. About 9 out of the 10 other customers wore NO masks. I ordered the 1 meat combo, comes with 2 pieces of fried chicken, wing & breast, 2 sides- fried okra & collard greens, bread roll & a drink. It's cheap and fast southern style food. It's good for what it is. And the menu changes daily so you're never bored with it. But I will say they put next to no salt, pepper, or seasoning in anything they serve. Understandably because the food is made to serve many people, most of which may have high blood pressure or need low salt diets. Like today... the Fried Green Tomatoes were a little dried out in the warmer pan... I can only guess they prepped a bit much for the initial dinner rush. The premise of FGT Centerville is to allow you to choose your main meal item and accompanying sides to go along with it. There is also a veggie plate option that I think is great for those of us who sometimes run out of side dishes and don't feel like cooking mid week. The sitting area within is inviting and you also have access to get your own refills. Not sure what their limitations are on this but I do not know of a limit on the refills from my experience at our other local FGT spots. They have a weekly rotation of their menu, you can also get a daily update of their menu as well in case they do vary from their normal rotation of offerings. The sauce for dipping the tomatoes was good, too. The peach cobbler is really good. We were pleasantly surprised to discover it isn't as sweet as you usually get; that's a huge plus in our book. It seems restaurants throw too much sugar in everything now and we like it with less. But the use of plastic and styrofoam for everything, even when you're eating in?! Bruh.
