Unfortunately this little restaurant has been off our RADAR screen for the past couple of years. But, returning a month ago we've now been here twice and our original 2022 review still holds up as their food, service and ambiance are all top notch. Only seven tables so the noise level is nonexistent, which is much to our liking. Terrific soft background music adds to the dining pleasure as well as their no rush service delivery. We've had chicken, steak, pork and seafood dishes recently as wells as several of their creative delicious salads. We are already planning our next visit, but they are on winter hours and only open Friday and Saturday with reservations required. Bottom line: Very decent dining experience and value as well. read more

I love this restaurant. The food is fantastic with excellent specials. The owner and his sister run the restaurant and are both personable and attentive. The decor is non-descriptive and the location is unfortunate - - on bridge Avenue in a strip with a tattoo parlor - - but you need to look beyond that. I would love for this restaurant to catch on. Found this place on yelp and it sounded great. It was up to the challenge . Food was outstanding and delicious . Presentation was top notch. Place was not crowded yet it was very intimate, seats about 20 people tops. All food freshly prepared : had the lobster corn chowder and coconut chicken with marmalade and pork chop and lobster with asparagus pesto. Everything is organic and outstanding!! Absolutely one of our favorite restaurants in Ocean & Monmouth Counties. Went to Origins last night for dinner. My husband got the mussels special & a New York strip which was cooked perfectly (medium rare). This one man show is second to none! The chef/owner at origins often acts as host, waiter and chef so not only does he take your order, but he cooks it to perfection. The restaurant is very small, as is the menu. Weekly specials add to variety, my recent favorite is the flat bread special with rare beef (as requested) and melted gorgonzola. The lobster Mac and cheese is the best around and it is FULL of lobster meat. For entrees you can't go wrong with one of the steaks on his menu or if you're looking to go lighter, the tuna over zoodles is also a crowd pleaser. The calamari it was decent, but undercooked in some pieces. The pork chop was extremely bland lacking seasoning. The filet mignon was returnable couldn't even eat it. Fillet itself was unseasoned and over cooked. I ordered it to medium. It came medium well like a hockey puck. Did you say put with it was undescribable and bland as well. The blue cheese mashed potatoes tasted like soap. Unedible. I had a higher expectations disappointed. read more

The chef/owner goes above and beyond to attend to all details for an amazing dinner. The gas fireplace was burning, the tea light was illuminated on the table, and the artwork added to the lovely ambience. Delicious rolls were served warm, with whipped butter. Each course was served on plates that had been heated to keep the food and sauces warm. The drunken clams were outstanding. The sauce was incredible!!!! We just discovered this spot. Amazing service and high quality food. I have my faves in the Squan/Point Pleasant area, Charlies, Shipwreck Grill etc, but the food here is the star. I had the drunken muscles in a flavorful broth. Ask for more bread. Then the Seared Tuna. Crazy! I am going back for the lamb, and seafood capellini which were ordered by my friends and would not share very much. So glad this is here and is somehow surviving this COVID crap. I don't know how this place does not have more reviews. This restaurant is an absolute GEM and I have never been to another place like it. This is the type of place where you walk in and feel like you're seeing somebody's dream of being a chef become a reality. The menu is small and carefully calculated. You can tell that the chef only includes the dishes that he is confident cooking- and damn, does it show on your plate. To start, the waiter is also the head chef and the kitchen is smaller than most house kitchens. You have to run a fine-tuned machine to be able to attend to tables and cook top quality food without a ton of help. It's a very intimate setting with only a few tables, which is definitely a surprise when, from the outside, it looks like a small coffee shop in a strip mall. All of the food - and I mean all of it - was absolutely delicious. We have extremely high standards and every single dish was knocked out of the park. The shrimp scampi was super light and so flavorful and delicious. My boyfriend got the lamb chop and it was the best he has ever eaten. I'm typically not a fan of French onion soup but it was done so incredibly well that we could not put it down. The burrata board was fresh and included a few different components that worked perfectly with the cheese. The calamari was fried to perfection. And for an added bonus, the restaurant is byob. One star because I had no option for 0. Dining nightmare. Was very specific about my food allergies and they completely disregarded them. How difficult is it to leave tomatoes and Parmesan off of a salad when specifically instructed? The balsamic dressing was clearly from a bottle evidenced by the flavor. Gross! The service was functionally inept and unapologetic. We left before getting to the entrees for self preservation. The salad made me sick after not realizing they had not left out the cheese. First time try tonight. Small place about 10 tables. 15 yr old boy greets you at door. Asks you if you have reservations even though no one makes them! Waiter was good, especially since he was serving 8 tables at once! Ordered the beef flatbread, it was excellent! Ordered the swordfish bites, also very good! Ordered the beet salad, not good- beets were very hard. They only put 5 leaves of arugula! Raspberry sauce was good. Not worth the money. Ordered dinner; Lamb was fantastic cooked medium, was excellent! My wife ordered the lobster capellini in cream sauce, pasta was over cooked and lobster pieces were tough to chew. House salad was small and had some type of lemon dressing on it- was not good! read more

My husband and I found this restaurant on yelp on Saturday night. When you walk in there is about 8 or 9 tables. The ambiance is so cozy and inviting. I would recommend a reservation as there is limited seating. We ordered the lobster corn fritter lollipops and they were absolutely amazing. Crunchy on the outside and soft and flavorful on the inside. For our entrees we both ordered the surf and turf, which is a 8 oz filet mignon and a crab cake with roasted asparagus and creamy mashed potatoes. Excellent food and nice ambiance! We ordered the swordfish bites which was delicious! I had the scallops and my husband had the gluten free pasta with shrimp, both were yummy, even the gluten free pasta was really good. The service was excellent too and one of the owners came by to welcome us. It's BYOB which is great for us since we like good wine and can bring our own. Went to Origins for the first time last night. It's exceptional! The tuna is the best I've had - anywhere. Lentil soup was amazing. Everyone enjoyed everything and from a food perspective, I don't have any suggestions for improvement. Oh, and the chef came out to check in on us. Really nice guy. Must try! We found this restaurant on Yelp based on reviews and were so happy with our choice. It's BYO! For starters we had the Lobster Lolipops. The app came with three very large pops that were so light and fluffy and had a ton of lobster meat. They were fried but not greasy AT ALL. Seriously so amazing. The sauce they came with was also so flavorful and light. My dad had the mushroom ravioli. He LOVED the sauce. He dipped our side of asparagus (very fresh and flavorful) in the sauce and refused to let the waitress take his plate away he loved the sauce so much. My mom had the crab cakes and couldn't stop taking about how much crab was really in them. They weren't all bread crumbs like lots of other places. Just huge chunks of crab with some scallions and red pepper. The aioli was also very good but still on the lighter side. My ahi tuna was awesome.
