Exceptional customer service. Staff was super friendly and attentive. Associate even came to our table and thanked us for stopping in. My first experience with Tommy's was the original Beverly/Rampart location when I was an SC student. Throughout the years I have gone every now and then mostly to the one in Fountain Valley. Came to this location for the 80th anniversary special. Came by just a little after 2pm and waited about an hour. Got my 3 chili cheeseburgers added bacon on them and of course I ordered a chili cheese fries with onions and chili peppers. Not for the weak stomach. Yummy just like I remembered it. Unfortunately this is the third time I've been to this location where they allow Johnny shopping cart to lounge in the dining area. The first time he was sleeping hunched over the table... The second time he was sleeping in the corner on the floor... and this time 7/ 10 10:50 AM he was hacking with some kind of flu or cold that sounded terrible... The food is greasy and heavy and has little nutritional value and that's just the way I like it!!! My fav chili burger ever. And they're pretty generous with the chili too, we got chili cheese fries to go and it was fricken stacked. A quiet location, but it's always clean and the employees are always friendly. Lake Forest location is very clean with no leftovers sitting on tables or trash on the floors (inside or out). Located off the 405N using the El Toro Rd exit toward the mountain side of 405. Waze or Google Map it. The service is quick, easy, fast, and accurate. Let's face it, it's Tommy's! So have to order a cheeseburger and chili tamale!!!! I know some ppl think this is "heart-attack-city" type food, but for us diehards, IT'S TOMMY'S and when you crave it, there's nothing one can do to stop us! Highly recommend THIS location. I don't like leaving a bad review for this location as I normally get good food here. However, yesterday something was definitely off with the food. I ordered a chili cheeseburger and something in it was off and made my stomach sick. 24 hours later and am still not 100 percent. Corporate needs to evaluate what is going on here. I don't think the food was spoiled. Maybe the cleanser in the chili container wasn't cleaned out well? I don't know, but I am scared to take my chances at this location again. Very awkward, but the male cashier came out after a few seconds, took our order and insisted we take our food to go because they were closing in 30 minutes. I declined and said no, it's for here and we have plenty of time to eat before you close the dining room. Don't get me wrong, I love Tommy's. But this location is under par. I get the sense that since they are located in a secluded area off the main road, the staff has become lazy. Unfortunately it doesn't look good when that happens. Twice I had to ring the bell to get their attention. I asked for a basic chili cheese burger with extra chili and they could not make it right even after the second time asking them to make it right. I just don't get why this location in Lake Forest isn't as good as the one off the 15 freeway in Barstow. I stop at that one on the way to Vegas almost every time I make that trip. This one in Lake Forest has served me luke warm burgers with no flavor and limp french fries for the last time. At double the price of In n Out, I expect more! I didn't even mention that they forgot one order of fries last time and we had to drive back and request them. read more

I love Tommys but this is the most depressing location I've been to. Walked in and saw 2 gen Z kids behind the counter that seemed to be new. That should have been a sign to walk right out but I was craving Tommy's. Bad customer service. Me and a couple of friends stopped in to sit down and order, one had to use the restroom and was told the bathrooms was just cleaned so it's closed now. Hours are from 9am -11pm and the restroom was supposedly closed at 8pm. After that we refused to order and spend money with them. read more

I ordered their chili cheese fries and it was like $8. Its pricey but it definitely fills you up. It looks small but you'd be surprised how filling it can be and its plenty of chili on there I order their chili cheese fries with onions. I add ketchup to it. If you haven't tried it with that, give it a try by adding the ketchup on the side and dip your fries mixed with chili and see if you like it. I did drive thru and it looked super empty inside and at the drive thru too. There was one car ahead of me but it must have been almost 10 mins waiting for them to get their food and then like 30 seconds to get my food. I'm not sure if they're just slow at getting your food or the person before me had a huge order. Over all, this location didn't seem busy on a Sunday afternoon. I used to really like this place I haven't been for awhile, but it's really gone downhill. Absolutely terrible. The portions the burger patty is so small and so thin I got Chili fries too they didn't pack it right it made a mess everywhere and the chilli. It feels like it's from a can The paper towels what they gave me to wipe my face they belong in the bathroom then napkin in the food bag This place was legendary now it's trash. One of our friends asked for no cheese on their chilaquiles and it accidentally came out with cheese. The staff handled it so kindly. They took it back immediately and as an apology one of the owners or cooks came out personally and brought us complimentary pancakes. That small gesture really showed how much they care. The owners were incredibly sweet and kept checking in asking if everything was good and sharing how much care and time they put into making everything homemade. You could genuinely feel that passion. The chicken sandwich was juicy and the cut was thick. The fries are cross cut tempura battered, and the brick style includes the mom's special sauce, grilled onions, and cheese. If you look at the menu from years past, you'll see that the price has only changed by $1 in the past 5 or 6 years. It's very impressive that they can keep the prices low so the average joe isn't priced out of a humble burger joint. Much respect to the family that owns this place. Y'all just earned a customer for life.

Well, it looks like we all have a love-hate relationship with good old Tommy's. I have just a love relationship. I can't help it. Loooooove Tommy's. Yes, it's scary looking when you open the wrapper and yes, you could suffer a stroke/heart disease just from looking at the chili, but DAMN it is tasty. The best part, to me, is that they put a big tomato slice on there. Really?? Is this the place for that? Is the tomato necessary, or do you just feel guilty for trying to kill us and this is your way of making reparations? Anyway. I don't let that bother me. I just take the tomato off. :D read more

My bf got a chili cheeseburger. It was 80% chili, 10% bread, 5% patty, & 5% toppings. The bread was extremely soggy and the patty was minuscule. He had tummy issues immediately after eating it and it continued to have tummy issues the next day. I would fully give zero stars if I could but I would give .5 stars. This is because the float and ice cream were decent especially for what they were priced at, but everything else was absolutely disgusting. read more

Popped back into my favorite burger place, Tommy's in Lake Forest. As usual, received the best burger and the best service from Zach and Jayden behind the register. Upon ordering the club sandwich the male behind the counter told her they were not serving any sliced meat sandwiches. She asked do you mean cold sandwiches and he replied yes. He then proceeded to make the cheesesteak and the italian but not the club. He never cooked any fries and they appeared in a metal to-go container. The two sandwiches he did make were ok but the fries were the nastiest fries I have ever tasted in my life. They were clearly old fries, not even reheated. You should be ashamed to serve a human being that garbage. Now on to why we will never be back. Your posted hours of operation are 10:30 to 6pm on Saturday. You should be open those hours, not putting stuff away and telling customers you cant make them food because you want to close up shop early. Furthermore the bs excuse you gave was clearly a lie as you made the Italian sub which has 3 different kinds of sliced meat and I have never once seen anyone slice meat on the spot to make a sandwich at Philly's. You had no problem making 2 more sandwiches for the gentleman that came in as our food was being bagged up so logic says the time she came in wasnt an issue. That was before your posted closing hours. I felt like crap because I talked them out of getting The Hat, your competition right down the street and then your service and your food SUCKED. As I said, we wont be back. I hope you closing up shop early was worth it.
