Sweet & Spicy Meatball
Rob A.

This is my go-to when I want a satisfying, fulfilling submarine sandwich. Usually it's in the mode of meatball, and I always go with the medium-sized because the small is a little too small, and the large is really big. They make the sandwich kind of fresh when you order, so if you order at the counter, you're gonna wait a few minutes, but it's worth it. From my latest visit I went with the steak and cheese. It turned out to be another good choice. Truth is, if you have a favorite or a type of sandwich you typically lean to, it will most likely turn out to be a good choice for you too. You're always greeted when you walk in and the place is always clean.

Dirty floors
Stephany M.

Came here in Saturday for lunch around 11:30am-12pm. There was no one sitting and eating but it seemed like the place was really dirty. The soda machine was sticky and I didn't get a drink bcuz of that. The floors were dirty and the place seemed to smell like B.O. What is cool about the location is that they carry hot sauces that would pair well with the sandwich. The guy behind the counter was nice and seemed to care about the service provided.

Hook & Ladder
Kevin C.

Tried the Hook and Ladder sandwich. Bread was light and fluffy and the best part of the sandwich. Meat was a less than other sandwich shops but still reasonable. The toppings were fresh. I like that they included a slice of pickle. The ambience is fire department themed. Plenty of seating available inside and outside.

I love this place very much because the sandwiches here are delicious, there was good service, and nice ambiance.

My meatball sandwich was burnt!!
Teresa H.

I went earlier this week to get a meatball sandwich. Normally the food is great. But on this day it was disappointing to find my bread and meatball got way too toasted. It was burnt. I would've said something had I known at the time. The two guys were nice enough they'd probably help me? But I'm wondering how it happened in the first place?

Firehouse Hero. Lifted the sub top off to show the beautiful messiness of all the meats and vegetables.

Firehouse Subs is legit. I buy subs from them every so often and I feel like I get my money's worth with the abundance of ingredients piled on. I also just signed up for their rewards club so just waiting for my free medium sub when it's my birthday - February isn't that far away *silent sigh* THE FOODS | Subs and salads with a few select sides for those who need more than one thing on their plate (me). A few notable tid bits - they steam the meats and cheeses, and the bread is toasted (warm & fuzzy vibes). I pigged out on... - Firehouse Hero | Lots of meats and vegetables in this sub. It comes with roast beef, smoked turkey breast, Virginia honey ham, provolone, lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo, and deli mustard. I added jalapeños and caramelized onions at no additional charge. The flavors are a combination of savory, a little sweet, and the added jalapeño spice. One thing I will note is the bread tends to become really soggy on the bottom if you don't eat it quickly and because of this, I probably wouldn't save any for leftovers. - Oatmeal Cookie | The cookie is wrapped in cellophane and quite firm when I bit into it. Not a deal breaker with me. The raisin ratio is sufficient and I enjoy the oat and sweet flavors. THE ORDERING LOGISTICS | Ordered through DoorDash and had it delivered. WOULD I COME BACK? | Yes, their subs are deliciously filling!

Pastrami
Will S.

I must say that this was the best sub I ever had from Firehouse out of 3 states. Christian was extremely professional even though an issue came up with a customer that was under the influence. My wife tried Firehouse Captain Club and I had the pastrami. We will definitely be back. May God bless this establishment in the name of Jesus Christ

Order clearly says: No tomato, No onion, No ham... as you can see the sandwich has all 3 on it.

Prices are insane. $20 for a medium sub, chips and drink. Portion sizes are small too. I'll go to Chipotle instead.

$16.74 for a sub and chips (no drink). They had a Spanish broadcast of a soccer match on the TV with the volume way too high.

We got there at 8:30 pm, and they were already cleaning up, so we asked if they were still open before we ordered. They were so kind to let us order our sandwiches even though they were cleaning up the kitchen. We love their Dutch crunch bread so much so we bought two loaves to have at home. They made the sandwiches quick and we took ours and ate it in the car. Hubby got the whole Baja Cheesesteak with Dutch crunch bread and the meat was pretty red and the sauce was a bit spicy. He enjoyed his sandwich and his free cookie. I got the Sammie French Dip with Dutch crunch bread and the meat was too red for me. I like my meat cooked a little more, so I decided to wait to cook it more at home. The dip had a horseradish flavor which was too strong for me, so I will probably not eat it. I loved my free cookie! I really liked the Mr Pickle sandwich last time so I will definitely try another cold sandwich next time. I can't wait to make sandwiches with the Dutch bread we got!

Laguna Hills, Ca. Upon entering I saw that the line to order…read morewas 6 customers. I just left but soon found the other two eateries in this shopping center had much longer waits so I came back after about 15 minutes and the line had not moved at all. I decided to be patient and stood in line. Eventually the line moved at a decent pace even if on the slow side. The two gentlemen doing all the prep and waiting on customers were very fastidious and professional. I ordered corned beef on rye which came to my table hot. It was an impressive one inch thick stack of corned beef. The only downsides to this sandwich was the physical size of the rye bread which was very small so the thick stack of corned beef rapidly tapered off to a minimum. The other downside was that the corned beef was much more chewy than what I like. It was thinly sliced to try to account for this imperfection but failed. Unless you have very sharp incisors, when you bite in, a large amount of meat comes dragging out. I really don't care for that, never have, never will. I was expecting the beef to have a bit more brine to the taste as well as a bit more cooked, but it was decent and I did indeed eat it all. The rye bread, while tiny was excellent with great flavor. I think overall it is not an $18 sandwich. The fries are awesome and you get a lot of them. They use large potatoes when cutting so some of the fries are 8 inches long. Not at all greasy or oily, very nice. Upon returning on another day, the wait time was well over 30 minutes. You will have to decide if the food is worth it. Today I tried the Rueben. It was very good. The corned beef today was tender and moist. The sour kraut was excellent, tasted home made but could have been out of a jar, I don't know. The rye bread is the same tiny size as used on the corned beef Sammy, making for an expensive sandwich. The amount of meat makes up for it a bit, for lunch it is a good portion. No fries today, the "Machine" is broken. The bag of chips was ok but not a perfect substitute. The gelato bar was totally meh. Almost no flavor at all. I'm not too keen on trying a different flavor. Upon opening the wrapper I found the bar covered in freezer ice, like it had been in there for a long time. Yuck. On a third visit I found the brisket on rye to be excellent. Very good flavor and plenty of meat. I tried another gelato bar and found the variety with chocolate had good flavor and not tasteless as the dolce leche was. However, this bar also had freezer frost. On yet another visit I had the pastrami. It was a generous heap of pastrami on the same small rye. I'm getting accustomed to that now. The pastrami was just a bit too fatty for my liking but it was delicious and surprisingly tender. Today's gelato bar will be my last one, I now know they all probably have freezer burn. The texture is altered also, the bars have been thawed and refrozen. Avoid.

I have heard of this place for years and finally tried it out. The service is great and was impressed with the overall cleanliness. The breakfast burrito was average sized at a decent price. I came right at opening, and I think I must have been the first customer in the store! I quickly ordered a bacon breakfast burrito and was asked if I wanted green or red salsa. I opted for both. The wait was reasonable, and I ended up getting my food after about 5-10 minutes. During the wait time, I perused the wine selection, and, while I don't know much about wine, it seemed like a great selection at a glance. I guess they also operate as a wine bar in the evening hours, because there was seating and in the place. Anyways, onto the burrito itself. It came with thick bacon, which I like, eggs, cheese, and tater tots. A simple, but tried and true method. I thought it was alright. It was acceptable for a breakfast burrito, and i thought the portion was reasonable. It didn't wow me, so it doesn't go higher on the rating. However, let's talk the salsa. I actually really enjoyed the salsa from here. Both the green and red were delicious, and it made the whole meal. The green was a creamy avocado (not spicy) that was rich and vegetal, and the red was a pretty spicy fresh-tasting one. I was meh on the burrito, but saved by the salsa for sure. Maybe I came on an off day, because I'm convinced with salsa like that, you've gotta be making a quality product.

WHY DOES THIS BAKERY HAVE A 4.5+ RATING?…read more This is our first visit. Clearly the pastries are a very high level of quality and french cuisine. We had breakfast - an omelette, some bacon and lamb sausage, potatoes, and a cappuccino. we also had some pastries. All excellently prepared. We're going to try something else besides the omelette next time...it was OK but not "out of the park" so we'll try something else next week. Service - after we ordered at the counter our food was delivered to the table which are all located outside on a well-shaded patio. We always split our dishes - my wife and I can't eat an entire plate of food. It's not "table service" - they don't come back and check you or help with water or drinks, etc. Whatever you want you must return to the counter. But service at the counter is very friendly and helpful. The ambiance is an outdoor cafe....noisy neighbors, wind when it blows, dogs, all the regular stuff - good seating and umbrellas with some areas naturally shaded...lots of tables relative to the size of the shop. Very friendly staff. Why do my reviews get over 1,000 views every time we visit a new place? We don't know but it seems consistent. We feature very critical reviews - we rate high but include serious critiques. Maybe that's it.
